This newly opened club certainly has a lot of creative options.
The billiards area is equipped with professional Star brand billiard tables, the KTV rooms have top-of-the-line sound equipment, and the spa area reportedly employs technicians from Thailand.
The other rich kids who came with Gu Qin had already dispersed. Some were with their companions in private rooms, while others were flirting with newly acquainted girls at the bar.
Huang Yi was like a mouse that had fallen into a rice jar as soon as he entered, his eyes darting around furtively, but he kept his attention on Gu Qin's expression.
He watched as Gu Qin leaned back on the sofa, listlessly swirling a wine glass in his hand for a long time without taking a sip. The irritation on his face not only didn't subside but actually grew thicker. So he waved to the girl next to him who was pouring him wine to leave first, and then mysteriously came over.
"Brother Gu, do you think these things are too plain and uninteresting?"
Gu Qin glanced at him and put her wine glass on the coffee table: "Spit it out."
Huang Yi chuckled and lowered his voice.
"This club also has a hidden underground casino, located on the basement level, which most people have no idea about. I only discovered it last time I came here with my friends. The games inside are much more exciting than upstairs—Texas Hold'em, Baccarat, dice, you name it."
Gu Qin raised an eyebrow, somewhat surprised.
It's not unusual for a club to open a casino, but to do it in the heart of the city means the people behind it must be quite powerful.
However, he was already used to this kind of thing. Before he returned to the Gu family, casinos were one of the places he frequented most often.
Those smoky underground spaces housed all sorts of people; the casino was more familiar to him than the banquet hall.
But going to the casino is also an option.
He stood up and gestured for Huang Yi to lead the way.
The casino was indeed extremely well hidden. It was located at the very back of the club, through a dimly lit corridor and down a flight of stairs. There were two men in plain clothes who looked menacing guarding the entrance.
Huang Yi gave his name and bribed someone before being allowed to pass.
Inside, the place was filled with smoke, the sounds of dice rolling, chips clattering, and gamblers shouting all mixed together. The air was thick with the smells of smoke, alcohol, and cheap perfume.
Gu Qin casually strolled around, looked at the cards on several tables, but none of them seemed interesting.
Midway through, someone looked up and saw him, and was intimidated by his aura, which was different from that of ordinary gamblers. They tentatively tried to strike up a conversation to find out where he came from.
He gave a few perfunctory words and then turned and left.
He'd been to these kinds of places too many times in the Northwest; this one just looked more upscale and organized, so it wasn't anything new to him.
He was about to tell Huang Yi to leave when he found that the guy had already squeezed into a dice table, excitedly shouting "big" along with the other gamblers until his voice was hoarse.
He clicked his tongue and planned to go to the restroom first before coming back to pick up the person.
He finished using the restroom quickly and walked back aimlessly, but then a small figure suddenly appeared at the corner and bumped into him like a headless fly.
The other person was wearing a baseball cap with the brim pulled low so that his face was obscured, and he was wearing a large, dark hoodie and had a slender build.
Gu Qin subconsciously grabbed the other person's shoulder, trying to push them away, but felt that the bones under his palm were too delicate, and the touch did not feel like a man's.
And this smell...
He frowned and glanced unintentionally under the brim of his hat.
Then a hint of surprise flashed in his eyes, and he narrowed them.
Just then, a series of rapid, aggressive footsteps echoed from the end of the corridor, accompanied by several men shouting gruffly, "Where is he?" "Which way did he run?" "Split up and search!"
Upon hearing the sound, the short man visibly trembled, his fingers instinctively clenching the hem of his coat before quickly releasing it, as if he had been burned.
Gu Qin stared intently at her, then suddenly lowered his voice, his tone carrying an ambiguous meaning that was neither a threat nor a tease.
"Warmth, I can help you. But you need to cooperate with me."
The short, gentle woman suddenly looked up, her almond-shaped eyes under the brim of her hat widening in surprise and bewilderment, as if asking, "How did you recognize me?"
Before she could ask, the footsteps grew closer, and several burly men appeared at the end of the corridor.
She could only grit her teeth and nod at him.
Gu Qin deftly reached out and pulled out her long hair from under the brim of her hat. The black hair fell from the edge of the brim and cascaded over her shoulders, but the wide brim still covered most of her face.
Then he pulled her around, pinning her back against the corridor wall. He braced one hand against the wall near her ear and the other around her waist, then lowered his head to get close to her face.
The distance between the two of them was instantly shortened to an extremely close distance, close enough that Wenqing's lips could feel the warmth of his breath, close enough that she could see her own panicked reflection in his deep eyes and the curve of each eyelash.
She instinctively tried to back away, but his arm was locked firmly behind her waist like an iron hoop, and he wouldn't budge.
Several burly men rushed to the corner at that moment, but upon seeing what was in front of them, they abruptly stopped.
The group was taken aback at first, then exchanged knowing, lewd smiles.
One of them whistled, while the other nudged his companion with his elbow and winked, saying, "Hey hey hey, this guy's got some wild stuff, let's get started."
Gu Qin pretended to be annoyed that her plan had been ruined, turning her head to glare at them, her tone fierce and impatient: "What are you looking at! Haven't you ever seen someone get things done? Get lost!"
Seeing his arrogant demeanor and tough attitude, the leader, not wanting to cause any more trouble, raised his hand to restrain his men and told them to stop looking and leave.
However, as he passed by the two, he couldn't help but glance at the person in the man's arms. Her long hair was draped over her shoulders, and her entire body was obscured by the tall man in front of her, so he couldn't see her figure. Half of her face was hidden in the shadow of the brim of her hat, with only a small part of her fair chin showing, which was dazzlingly white.
However, he felt that the figure looked somewhat familiar, but after being glared at by Gu Qin's cold eyes, he dared not look any longer and quickened his pace.
Once the footsteps of that group of people had completely disappeared, Gu Qin released his hand from behind her waist and took half a step back to create some distance.
Wenqing immediately jerked away from his embrace, her back pressed against the wall, her heart pounding as if it would jump out of her throat.
She raised her hand and pulled her hat brim down even further, her voice filled with confusion: "How did you recognize me?"
Gu Qin leaned against the opposite wall, arms crossed, a half-smile playing on his lips: "I can smell you from far away, and with your height... it doesn't matter what you wear."
Wen Qing paused for a moment, then subconsciously raised her sleeve and smelled herself.
The smell? How come she can't smell it?
At this moment, Gu Qin spoke again, his tone shifting from playful to serious.
"Wen Qing, what are you doing here? And being chased... Who are those people?"
