Su Yilan glanced at the tall girl, her tone neither warm nor impolite.

"It's you. I remember you. You seemed to get along well with Xu Ling... Where is she? I haven't seen her today?"

When the tall girl saw that Su Yilan remembered her, a smile immediately bloomed on her face, and she answered hurriedly.

"Lingling is with Gu Shuang. We just went there to get drinks..."

The moment the name "Gu Shuang" left her lips, Su Yilan's expression visibly darkened.

The change wasn't drastic, but it was enough for Wen Qing, who was standing next to her, to notice.

The tall girl seemed to realize she had said something wrong, and her voice grew softer and softer until she finally shut her mouth in embarrassment.

Wen Qing glanced at Su Yilan and secretly guessed that, judging from her reaction, Su Su and that girl named Gu Shuang probably had some kind of grudge.

Just then, a small noise came from behind.

Wen Qing turned her head and saw several girls walking towards her.

The woman at the front was wearing a beautifully tailored white dress, the hem of which was adorned with tiny pearls that shimmered softly in the sunlight.

Her features were quite beautiful, but the arrogant look in her eyes made her look like a white swan with its neck held high.

Her gaze swept across everyone's faces, lingering a moment longer on the unfamiliar Wen Qing, before finally settling on Su Yilan, a mocking smile curving her lips.

"Su Yilan, didn't you say you weren't coming today? But you still came... It seems some people really are shameless enough to join in the fun."

Upon hearing this, Su Yilan's gaze instantly turned cold.

But instead of getting angry like she usually does when arguing with Su Yi'an, she smiled sweetly, her tone carrying a kind of obedientness that made people feel something was off.

"Gu Shuang, when did I say I wasn't coming? I clearly said—to see, to feel, to be with you. But when it got to you, it became 'I'm not coming.' Are you deaf, or are the people around you deliberately exaggerating in front of you?"

She took half a step forward, her smile undiminished, but her voice became even sweeter.

"Since you're so unwelcoming to me, I'll go tell Uncle Gu that someone here doesn't welcome me. I have no choice but to leave now."

As she spoke, she took Wenqing's hand and turned to leave.

Seeing that she looked like she was about to complain, Gu Shuang's expression changed, and she gritted her teeth and called out to her.

"Stop right there! You're already here, who are you trying to fool by leaving now?"

Su Yilan stopped and turned to look at her, her smile carrying a clear provocation.

"None of your business! I can leave whenever I want!"

Gu Shuang's chest heaved with anger, and the arrogant mask on her face finally crumbled, her voice becoming shrill.

"You think anyone cares about your attitude? Your mother brought you here just for business matters, didn't she? Don't think you're so high and mighty!"

Whether I'm aloof or not is another matter, but it's still better than some people... shouting and yelling like shrewish women in this kind of situation.

The two started arguing back and forth, and the tension escalated, drawing the attention of several guests nearby.

Caught in the middle, Wenqing looked left and right, unsure of who to advise first.

She reached out and tugged at Su Yilan's sleeve, lowering her voice to say, "Su Su, stop making a fuss, there are so many people watching."

On the other side, several girls around Gu Shuang were also quietly trying to persuade her, and someone tugged at Gu Shuang's arm to calm her down.

Su Yilan glanced at Wen Qing, snorted, and then actually shut up.

But Gu Shuang's temper was clearly not so easy to control; her anger needed an outlet, so the person who tried to mediate became that outlet.

She suddenly turned around and slapped the girl standing closest to her across the face.

The slap was crisp and loud, and several girls around gasped at the same time.

"Do you even have the right to advise me?"

Gu Shuang's voice was as cold as ice.

The girl who was hit covered her face, turned her head to one side, and a few strands of hair fell across her cheek.

Another girl with a ponytail next to her quickly helped her up and asked timidly in a low voice, "Lingling, are you alright?"

Wen Qing finally saw the face of the girl who had been hit.

It's Xu Ling.

At Su Jiqing's birthday party last time, it was this girl who took the initiative to walk up to her and talk to her, asking who she was.

Wen Qing still remembers the regretful and embarrassed expression on Su Yi'an's face after she was driven away.

She was also the girl who once mustered up the courage to hand Lin Zhiyan a gift in the hallway.

In the midst of the chaos, a deep, magnetic voice came from not far away: "Shuangshuang, what are you doing here?"

Everyone turned to look and saw two tall men walking towards them.

The man on the left was wearing a well-tailored gray suit. He had a cool and handsome face, and his brows carried a scholarly air similar to Su Jiqing's, but he had more of the shrewdness and aloofness of a business elite.

The man on the right was dressed in a black suit, wearing gold-rimmed glasses, with his usual gentle smile on his lips—it was Lin Zhiyan.

Upon seeing the man on her left, Gu Shuang's arrogant expression instantly crumbled, her eyes visibly reddened, and she cried out in a pitiful, coquettish voice, "Brother—that guy Su Yilan bullied me!"

Gu Ling walked closer, frowned slightly as he glanced at his sister, and then scanned the people present.

His gaze didn't linger on anyone for long, only pausing almost imperceptibly when it swept over Wen Qing, before turning to Su Yilan.

He bowed slightly, his posture dignified yet sincere.

"Ms. Su, I'm sorry. My sister is young and her words were somewhat offensive. I apologize on her behalf."

Gu Shuang stared at her brother in disbelief, her eyes still red, her voice filled with barely suppressed grievance and resentment.

"Brother! Why are you apologizing to her?"

"Gu Shuang".

Gu Ling's voice was not loud, even gentle, but the weight contained in those two words made Gu Shuang shut her mouth instantly.

He looked down at his sister, a faint line appearing between his brows. His tone was unhurried, yet it struck Gu Shuang's ears like a nail.

"What occasion is this? It's Dad's birthday banquet. Are you going to cause a scene here, make Dad angry, and make the Gu family a laughingstock among all the guests?"

Gu Shuang bit her lower lip, her eyes red and swollen.

She then glared fiercely at Su Yilan and stabbed Wen Qing in the eye, her gaze filled with resentment and dissatisfaction, but she dared not say anything more. She lifted her skirt, turned around, and strode away.

The girls behind her exchanged glances for a moment, then quickly followed.

Gu Ling watched his sister walk away before turning to Su Yilan, nodding slightly again in a sincere tone.

"Miss Su, my younger sister is young and spoiled at home. She speaks and acts inappropriately. I apologize to you on her behalf."

Su Yilan was not a petty person to begin with. Seeing Gu Ling's humble attitude, most of her anger subsided, and she waved her hand and said.

"It's alright, it's alright, I'm used to it. But Brother Gu Ling, you should still keep an eye on her when you get back. If she doesn't change her temper, she'll suffer a great loss sooner or later."

Gu Ling smiled slightly, not responding to the question, and his gaze naturally fell on Wen Qing.

"Who is this?"

He asked, his tone polite and gentle.
