Pei Hansheng sat on the sofa. The sky outside the window was just beginning to brighten, and shadows were cast on his profile, making him look like a sculpture.

He slowly lifted his eyelids, revealing a deep crimson in his eyes.

"A bunch of good-for-nothings, they want me to go and bring that woman back myself."

He got up. Having not slept all night and overwhelmed with anxiety, his vision went black. He rubbed his forehead, and once the dizziness subsided, he strode outside.

Goldman Sachs asked worriedly, "Mr. Pei, where are you going to look?"

Pei Hansheng got into the car, feeling terribly empty inside.

Goldman Sachs chased after them, holding Qiao Wan's phone: "Mr. Pei, isn't this your wife's phone?"

"Where was it found?"

"It's right under the sofa in the living room."

Pei Hansheng tried entering the password. The first time he entered Qiao Wan's birthday, but it was wrong.

The second time was on his birthday, and it was opened.

He was somewhat surprised.

He thought the woman wouldn't remember this day. Except for his first birthday, she prepared longevity noodles for him and an incredibly tacky couple's bracelet. He reluctantly accepted it because she made it by hand.

People always start to miss things when they lose them. Those were the happiest months for them, even though Qiao Wan was the one who caused that low period. But he was happier every day.

Until the time Qiao Wan fell ill with a fever, she called out Ye Jizhou's name.

She kept crying, and Pei Hansheng held her in his arms, listening to her reciting all the little things they had shared in Hong Kong.

Pulling himself out of his thoughts, he opened Qiao Wan's phone. She had applied to work in the South China Sea in the group chat and had even checked the latest flight tickets to the South China Sea.

Pei Hansheng gave a low, cold laugh, his eyes full of mockery.

He was planning his future with her, but the woman was desperately trying to escape.

As he laughed, tears welled up in his eyes. His gaze gradually turned sinister, all his emotions cooled, and his eyes reddened, leaving only a damp, obsessive look.

"Mr. Pei, if Madam was leaving, why didn't she take her phone? Is it possible that something happened to her?"

Pei Hansheng's eyes flickered slightly. He calmed down and stared at Qiao Wan's phone, noticing that there were scratches on the edges.

Images of conflict flashed through his mind, and his heart suddenly clenched.

He drove to the property management office, where the night shift staff were dozing off. The gusts of cold wind he brought in woke them up, and they quickly stood up and saluted: "Good morning, Mr. Pei."

Pei Hansheng went straight to the control room: "Check who entered and exited Tanshu in the past 24 hours, and check the surveillance footage."

The property management staff dared not slack off. Tanshu has a strict security system with surveillance cameras that cover all angles. They quickly magnified the surveillance footage from dozens of angles on the big screen.

I checked the visitor records again: "Your mother came yesterday around noon. There were three black Mercedes-Benz vans. She said she brought workers to do a thorough cleaning."

Pei Hansheng slammed his fist on the monitor, which showed a group of men in black carrying two black garbage bags from the villa to a car.

A rush of blood to his head, he wiped the blood from his fist, turned and left.

"Goldman Sachs, to the old house."

"Yes."

Goldman Sachs floored the accelerator the whole way, gripping the steering wheel so tightly it creaked.

Two adults and a child were kidnapped in broad daylight, right in their own home. Madam Rong and Qiao Wan have always been at odds, but this time, what they did was a bit too much.

The car sped into the Pei family's old house like an arrow, startling Rong Wenying's poodles into barking wildly.

Pei Hansheng was dressed in black, exuding the chill of a winter morning, like a demon crawling out of hell, sinister and menacing.

Rong Wenying descended the stairs, her gorgeous nightgown loosely tied: "Oh my god, it's so early in the morning, they won't even let me get a good night's sleep."

Upon recognizing Pei Hansheng, she yawned, slowly sat down on the sofa, and crossed her legs.

"You've come to pay your respects so early?"

Pei Hansheng stood to the side, his face cold, and asked her, "What did you do at Tanshu yesterday?"

Rong Wenying tidied her newly permed, elegant curls and said casually, "I sent someone to your place for a thorough cleaning for the New Year, but no one was there when I went."

"Qiao Wan is missing."

Rong Wenying scoffed, "If you lost her, go find her yourself! You're coming to me asking for her back, as if I did something to her."

Pei Hansheng stared at Rong Wenying, annoyed by her nonchalant attitude.

"You normally call the police when your dog goes missing, but this is your attitude when your daughter-in-law goes missing?"

Rong Wenying sneered: "Can Qiao Wan compare to my few darling dogs? Dogs know how to make me happy, but she will only make me so angry that I'll have a heart attack."

Pei Hansheng grabbed a fruit knife from the table and pressed it against his heart.

Rong Wenying was horrified: "Hansheng, what are you trying to do? Put the knife down right now!"

"I'm asking you, where is Qiao Wan? If you don't tell me—" He pressed the knife down hard, blood gushing out and soaking his white shirt.

"Son! Do you want my life?!"

Rong Wenying lunged forward to snatch the knife, but the blade was already deep in flesh and blood; pulling it out would be fatal.

"Is Qiao Wan that important to you that you'd risk your life for her!"

Pei Hansheng's face was deathly pale, and he bled more and more, staining the knife red: "If anything happens to her, I won't live on alone."

Rong Wenying was stunned, her face filled with disappointment: "Her body is probably floating on some high seas now, so you might as well go and be buried with her. I'll never have a son like you again!"

A touch of desolation appeared on Pei Hansheng's handsome face.

No one cared whether he lived or died; they wanted him to succeed and become a useful successor. Only Qiao Wan stayed by his side day and night while he was paralyzed in bed, and only she cared whether he was happy or not.

But now even she is going to abandon him.

Pei Hansheng's eyes went unfocused, his vision blurred, and the surrounding sounds disappeared. A howling sea wind came from a distant direction, and Qiao Wan's voice rang out clearly.

Pei Hansheng, save me.

The ambulance arrived and took Pei Hansheng to the hospital. When he woke up, he pulled out the IV needle and had only one thought in his mind: Qiao Wan needed him, and he had to find her.

The nurse stopped him: "Mr. Pei, you still have wounds on your body, you can't get out of bed."

Fu Yuanzhou came over to see him throwing a tantrum: "His wound isn't fatal, tell him to be discharged."

Pei Hansheng sat on the edge of the bed, looking utterly lost.

Fu Yuanzhou sighed: "The gangsters in Hong Kong are involved in smuggling and travel by water all year round. Try contacting Yi Yanzhi and work with him to find Xiao Wan."

"I don't need anyone to find me a wife."

Despite the excruciating pain from his wounds, Pei Hansheng contacted the customs police department and dispatched a land, sea, and air rescue team to search for the missing person.

Fu Yuanzhou's expression was solemn: "After this, even if we find her, I'm afraid Xiaowan won't be able to stay with you."

Pei Hansheng felt as if a piece of his heart had been ripped out.

Xiao Bao was also kidnapped. He was Qiao Wan's most precious treasure, more important than her own life, yet he allowed this to happen, and on his own turf no less.

A resolute smile flashed across his eyes, like a madman heading towards his doom: "She has no choice but to follow me. She'll be entangled and tormented by me for the rest of her life, and she'll be buried in the same grave with me when she dies."
