Pei Hansheng led Qiao Wan into the bedroom. As soon as he put her on the bed, Qiao Wan wrapped herself in the quilt, covering herself from head to toe in a completely defensive posture.

Pei Hansheng was extremely agitated. He looked for a cigarette in the bedroom, put it in his mouth, lit it, and then, as if remembering something, broke the cigarette in half and threw it into the trash can.

He turned around and faced the small hill: "Qiao Wan, let's have a good talk."

Under the covers, Qiao Wan felt a dull ache in her heart, and her tears flowed silently and freely.

That familiar feeling returned. She had suffered from postpartum depression for three years, and her somatization was so severe that she needed to call for emergency help. She thought she had recovered, but tonight her emotions collapsed again, and she was at a loss.

Pei Hansheng noticed something was wrong and yanked the blanket off. Qiao Wan was curled up, hugging herself tightly, and trembling violently.

A flicker of fear crossed his eyes. He quickly opened a bottle of new medicine from the cabinet, poured out two pills, and pried open Qiao Wan's mouth.

Qiao Wan shook her head in resistance.

She opened her mouth and bit his finger. He took the opportunity to put the medicine in his mouth, his index finger swirling around her tongue. Qiao Wan swallowed hard and swallowed the pill along with her tongue.

Pei shouted as he unscrewed the bottle of mineral water and fed it to her.

"The medicine was prescribed by Fu Yuanzhou; it won't kill you."

Qiao Wan pushed Pei Hansheng away, splashing water from the bottle all over him.

"Didn't I feed you enough tonight? Why are you arguing with me again?"

Pei Hansheng stood up, took off his shirt which was wet from the water, and faced Qiao Wan with his bare chest, his face somewhat gloomy.

Qiao Wan lay down with her back to him, closed her eyes and waited for the medicine to take effect. Her physical discomfort gradually improved, but the pain in her heart lingered.

That's not something that can be solved with medicine. If she doesn't leave here soon, she'll go crazy sooner or later.

Pei Hansheng stared at her cold back, his tone icy: "Qiao Wan, do you hate me that much? You don't even want to look at me?"

Qiao Wan answered weakly, "Yes."

Pei Hansheng's arms hung limply at his sides, his eyes filled with defeat.

Do you remember what happened when we first got married?

Qiao Wan raised her eyes, her dark pupils filled with a layer of cold mist.

If time could turn back, she would want to rip out her heart and never fall in love with Pei Hansheng, and gouge out her eyes so she would never fall into his drowning eyes.

"I remember, it was terrible."

"You think it's terrible?" Pei Hansheng's voice was hoarse, and the light in his eyes dimmed. "You don't feel anything at all?"

"Yes, it's terrible!" Qiao Wan was extremely averse to the topic and turned around to yell at him:

"Wasn't that your carefully planned revenge against me? You wasted your sincerity, then abandoned me and went abroad. Your revenge was so successful! Now, whenever I think back to those months, I curse myself for being such an idiot. How could I have fallen for a scumbag like you? You should be locked up with your murderer's white moonlight forever, never to harm good people again, and disappear from my world forever!"

After saying these words, Qiao Wan's tears kept flowing down her face.

She suddenly realized that the image of a madwoman that she had tried so hard to get rid of could always be easily exposed in front of this man.

Pei Hansheng's handsome face was filled with suppressed emotion, but his usually indifferent mask gradually cracked, revealing a hint of disarray.

Qiao Wan hugged herself, staring blankly into space.

He no longer had the strength to speak.

Pei Hansheng stood to one side, watching her quietly.

He was at his wits' end, and his heart was numb. Qiao Wan's words were always so hurtful, pushing him out of her world with all her might.

There was a long silence, and the air felt suffocating.

Pei Hansheng went into the dressing room, changed into his pajamas, and was about to lie down on the bed.

Qiao Wan threw the blanket off onto the floor.

Pei Han asked her calmly, "What will you cover yourself with at night if you throw it away?"

Qiao Wan didn't want to say a word to him and turned her back.

Pei Hansheng picked up the quilt and threw it on her, then got into bed himself, his long arms and legs pressing half of his body down on her.

Qiao Wan struggled, but he held her even tighter, making her sweat profusely. She didn't want to take a shower or sleep covered in sticky sweat, so she stopped moving.

Pei Hansheng sighed softly in her ear: "Qiao Wan, you can do whatever you want, just don't hurt yourself."

His tone was so helpless, as if everything was Qiao Wan's fault, and he was the model husband who tolerated everything.

Qiao Wan felt a surge of sarcasm and let out a sneer.

No one spoke again. Behind them came the sound of a man's even breathing; Pei Hansheng had fallen asleep.

Qiao Wan felt physically and mentally exhausted next to him, and she closed her eyes wearily and fell into a deep sleep.

Early the next morning.

Qiao Wan woke up naturally when Shen Yingtang called. Her voice was hoarse because she had cried the night before.

"Honey, your voice sounds off. Do you have a cold or have you been bullied?"

Before Qiao Wan could speak, Xiao Bao came over and said, "Call me Xiao Bao, Qiao Xiao Wan, what's wrong?"

"It's nothing, I just had a nasal voice after waking up and I'm a little feverish."

Xiao Bao was worried, so he sent over the video.

He and Shen Yingtang were putting up paper-cut window decorations at home, creating a festive atmosphere for the New Year.

"Mommy, are you coming home for dumplings tonight?"

Before Qiao Wan could speak, the bedroom door opened from the outside, and Pei Hansheng came in carrying breakfast. He walked in front of the camera and showed his face.

"What does this child call you? Mommy?"

Qiao Wan hung up the video call and put her phone behind her back.

You misheard me.

Pei Hansheng chuckled, his eyes cold.

He placed breakfast on the table.

"After dinner, come back to the old house with me. It's the New Year, and Grandpa wants to see you."

Qiao Wan also missed her grandfather, but since the divorce agreement had already been signed, it would be too awkward for her to go to the old house, so she didn't really want to go.

Pei Hansheng noticed and his expression darkened with displeasure: "Grandpa's been pressuring us so much, aren't you going to do anything about it?"

Qiao Wan rolled her eyes at him: "What's Grandpa rushing me for?"

"born."

"I will not have children."

Pei Hansheng lowered his eyes, his hand holding a ceramic spoon, his nails turning white.

He sneered, staring at the fish porridge in the bowl: "Why can't I give birth? Am I not hard enough, or is the quality poor?"

Qiao Wan said impatiently, "Stop acting crazy."

Pei Han slammed the bowl down on the table: "Eat quickly."

After saying that, he strode out of the bedroom, punched the wall, making Qiao Wan's shoulders tremble. He then picked up the bowl and drank the porridge.

A moment later, my phone rang. It was my grandfather calling.

"Xiao Wan, Han Sheng said you're not coming to see Grandpa anymore. What happened? Are you sick or something else got in the way? Grandpa is very worried about you. I know there must be another reason why you're not coming to the old house. It's definitely not that you don't want to come."

Qiao Wan bit her lip, feeling guilty: "Grandpa, I didn't."

Pei Xiongkai chuckled happily: "Alright, then Grandpa will wait for you to come. I'll tell you, Grandpa received a lot of treasures for the New Year, and I've been saving them all. When you come, you can pick one out, and take it if you like it. Xiaowan, Happy New Year, Grandpa thanks you for spending another year with me."

Qiao Wan's eyes were hot.

Every New Year, Grandpa would thank her and give her red envelopes and gifts. He loved her like his own granddaughter, but she always felt that his love was too precious and that she didn't deserve it.

Pei Hansheng didn't leave; he was at the door listening to the phone. He saw Qiao Wan with red eyes, not saying a word, so he came in and took the phone.

"Grandpa, I'll take her back now."

"Who told you to speak? I get annoyed just hearing your voice. I'm hanging up!"

Pei Hansheng looked at his phone, then at Qiao Wan, picked up the bowl of porridge she hadn't finished, ate it all in a few bites, and then arranged for the driver to take them back to the old house.
