Ghost Immortal

Chapter 4 Meat Tendons

Li Feng's heart suddenly raced; there was something behind the Buddha statue.

The contents of that wooden box are likely not simple.

Li Feng took a deep breath and tiptoed around to the back of the Buddha statue.

The dilapidated temple was silent, except for the Iron Guard who stood motionless on the stone steps, his empty eye sockets following his direction.

Li Feng had gotten used to the guards' watchful eyes. Over the past two months, he had figured out the guards' patterns of action. As long as he didn't get close to the door or make any attempt to escape, the guards wouldn't react.

There is indeed a crack in the clay sculpture behind the Buddha statue, about two fingers wide, extending from the shoulder blade all the way to the side of the waist.

Li Feng reached in, the rough mud at the edge of the crack scraping against his arm, but he gritted his teeth and continued to probe deeper.

My finger touched something hard.

Wooden, square, palm-sized.

Li Feng was overjoyed and hooked his fingers around the edge of the wooden box, pulling it outwards.

The wooden box was stuck too tightly, and it took him a lot of effort to pull it out of the crack.

This is a lacquered wooden box, exactly the same as the one the old man brought back from town three months ago.

The box was coated with dark red paint, and some crooked runes were engraved on the surface, giving it a slightly raised texture.

The lid of the box was secured with a small brass lock, but the lock was so badly corroded that it broke easily with a gentle pry.

The bald old woman was so confident that she didn't even bring the treasure with her.

Perhaps in his view, these things were safer to keep in the dilapidated temple than to carry on his person.

After all, Li Feng's spiritual root hadn't fully developed yet, so even if he got this thing, he couldn't escape it.

Li Feng excitedly opened the box.

A strong medicinal smell wafted over, like the smell of dried meat.

There was only one dark red thing in the box.

It is about the thickness of an adult's index finger and about a hand's length long. Its surface is dry and covered with fine wrinkles, like a piece of dried beef tendon.

Unlike beef tendon, this thing glows faintly in the dim light, like congealed blood slowly circulating under the veins.

Li Feng poked it a few times with his finger; it was hard and felt like rubber.

He picked it up and brought it to his nose to smell.

The smell was faint, but it definitely came from this thing; it had a bloody smell and a hint of sweetness.

This is definitely not an ordinary herb, but the flesh and tendons of some kind of creature, and a creature imbued with spiritual energy.

This stuff is definitely the material that the bald old man uses to refine pills.

Holding the meaty tendon, a bold idea instantly popped into Li Feng's mind.

What if he boils this thing in a cauldron?

Herbs can be boiled to extract spiritual energy, and brown rice can be boiled into spiritual rice. So what will be cooked if you put these spiritual materials, which inherently contain spiritual energy, into a cauldron?

Since the old man is going to refine him into a human pill anyway, he's going to die either way, so he might as well take a gamble.

He walked to the cauldron, lifted the wooden lid, added half a cauldron of water, threw in the meat tendons, and then put the wooden lid back on.

Then he squatted down next to the tripod legs, took some dry firewood from the woodpile, and piled a small pile under each of the three tripod legs.

A moment later he lit an orange-red flame, which licked at the bottom of the tripod.

Just like when I cooked the spirit rice last time, a faint red light appeared in the groove at the bottom of the tripod. As the flames continued to heat it, the red light became brighter and brighter, as if magma was flowing in the groove.

Immediately afterwards, the entire cauldron trembled and emitted a low humming sound.

The temperature inside the cauldron remained unchanged, but the water inside began to churn strangely.

The water surface spun, forming a whirlpool. The whirlpool then dipped inward, as if an invisible giant hand was stirring the water.

Li Feng stared at the changes inside the cauldron, his heart pounding so hard it felt like it was going to jump out of his throat.

After about the time it takes to drink a cup of tea, the whirlpool suddenly stopped.

A wisp of white steam billowed out from the gap in the lid of the cauldron, like the smoke wafting from an incense burner, its aroma filling the air.

It was so concentrated, like a liquid essence, that after entering his nasal cavity, it made Li Feng feel as if he were soaking in warm water, his pores opening greedily to absorb it.

Just by smelling the aroma of the meat, Li Feng felt the Qi in his dantian rotate much faster, and his spiritual power increased slightly out of nowhere.

He dared not delay and eagerly lifted the lid of the cauldron.

A thicker plume of white vapor shot into the sky, enveloping the entire dilapidated temple in a milky white mist.

The mist was dotted with tiny golden lights, like floating fireflies, slowly moving through the air.

The meat tendons inside the cauldron had completely changed.

The originally dry, wrinkled, dark red tendons have now fully stretched out, becoming plump and elastic, with a layer of lustrous sheen on the surface, like fine jade.

The broth around the meat tendons turned milky white, thick like rice porridge, with a layer of golden oil floating on the surface, exuding a strong spiritual aura.

Li Feng picked up a wooden bowl next to the cauldron and scooped it full.

The soup was scalding hot, but he didn't care about the heat and tilted his head back to pour it into his mouth.

The moment the broth enters your mouth, a burst of pure spiritual energy explodes in your mouth, like a small sun exploding in your throat.

The warm current rushed down like a flood bursting its banks, flowing down the throat into the chest cavity and into the lower abdomen.

The vortex of energy in his dantian began to spin wildly, more than ten times faster than usual.

The spiritual energy surged through my meridians like boiling magma—scorching but not painful; instead, it brought a sense of exhilarating pleasure.

Li Feng felt his meridians creaking and groaning as this violent spiritual energy forcefully expanded them.

He didn't have time to savor it; he picked up the entire pot and shoved the meat and broth into his mouth like a human-shaped glutton.

The meat tendons melt in your mouth, as soft and tender as boiled tendons, with a rich meaty and medicinal aroma filling your mouth.

After swallowing the entire tendon, the energy vortex in his dantian transformed into a chaotic vortex, with golden light extending from the vortex into various meridians.

A spiritual root of three inches arrives in an instant!

The broth was quickly digested, and the speed at which his spiritual root extended continued to surge, soon breaking through to the four-inch level!

The golden light grew brighter and brighter, and the cyclone expanded continuously, from the size of a sesame seed to the size of a soybean, and then from the size of a soybean to the size of a pigeon egg.

Li Feng was enveloped in a faint golden light. He sat cross-legged on the ground, his body drenched in sweat, which contained black impurities and oil, emitting a pungent stench.

But his mind was clearer than ever before, and his senses were several times more acute than before.

The spiritual root had extended to the inner thigh, and now it had finally stabilized.

The spiritual root is five inches long!

Li Feng slowly opened his eyes, a golden light flashing in them before disappearing in an instant.

He looked down at his hands, the skin covered with a thin layer of black grime, but beneath the grime, the skin had become fair and delicate, much smoother than before.

If he were to rely on his own diligent cultivation, even with the help of the cauldron, it would take at least five years for his spiritual root to grow from three inches to five inches.

This mysterious tendon caused his spiritual root to grow by two inches in one go.

This is definitely not the flesh and tendons of an ordinary monster!

Li Feng glanced at the empty bottom of the cauldron and thought to himself that it was a pity.

If he could get a few more of these good things, he might be able to grow a seven-inch spiritual root.

A seven-inch spiritual root is definitely a genius in the Taoist sect, and once it appears, it will be fought over by various sects!
