Chapter 98 Black Mist
She paused for a moment, then added in a serious tone, "But that's assuming there's enough time. If Huifang proves to be more troublesome than expected, or if the trackers get closer, then things will be bad."
"Moreover, the person who can follow Ise Kibō all the way without being discovered by him is no ordinary person. If the follower is Fujiwara or Kigur himself, then we will be in big trouble."
"So," Yuzu turned to look at Li An and calmly instructed, "the safest way is for you to go and hold off the trackers and buy me some time."
"Don't worry about me. My lightning completely counters his black mist. All his moves are just paper tigers in front of me."
"The only problem is that when he arrives at the designated location, he might not see you but only me, which might make him wary. But I can handle that; I have plenty of ways to put his guard down."
When she said her last sentence, her tone was full of disdain. Considering her previous description of Ise Kibo's "sycophantic" nature, Ang Lee could probably guess what the "solution" she was referring to was.
"No need, I have a plan."
After Ang Lee finished speaking, he reached for his waist with his right hand and untied the small black wooden puppet that was tied to his belt.
Moonlight shone on the intricate runes on the puppet's surface. Li An casually tossed the puppet aside, and it landed on the cement floor in front of him, where it began to emit black smoke.
The black aura of death was extremely dense, rolling out from the runes and red threads. The black aura continued to rise, forming an ever-expanding black cloud centered on the puppet.
From within the cloud of gas came the crisp sound of bones stretching, the clicking sound of joints snapping back together, and the sound of muscle fibers wriggling and expanding in the black gas, producing a wet and sticky friction sound.
From within the black mist, a human figure slowly stood up.
The black energy suddenly contracted inward, drawing everything back into the core, revealing the already formed body inside.
Qiguer crouched on the rooftop, his body covered in coarse, short black fur, with long, powerful limbs and sharp, hook-like claws.
Its body was tightly wrapped with red thread soaked in chicken blood and cinnabar, and the peach-shaped plaque hanging from the red thread swayed with its breathing.
The Bagua jade pendant on its chest gleamed with a cold, jade-white light, and the lower half of its face was completely covered by a mask made of five Emperor coins. The mask swayed in the night wind, making a slight metallic clanging sound.
"Go." Li An narrowed one eye, and his mental threads tightened in that instant, causing Qiguer to move.
"Bang—" The concrete ground beneath Qigu's feet exploded, creating a crater. His entire body, like a black cannonball launched into the air, traced a black line through the air, passing the distance between several buildings before disappearing into the night.
The cement fragments it crushed along the way were still suspended in the air and hadn't even had time to land when it appeared at the next landing point, then launched itself again, rushing towards the pursuer at an astonishing speed.
Yuzu looked in the direction where Chigur had disappeared, then turned back to look at Li An.
"Wow—you're really something! You have a backup plan I didn't know about, buddy."
"Don't tell me I'm being sarcastic," Ang Lee interrupted her. "I'm sensitive to that word."
Yuzu blinked, wanting to ask why, but before she could speak, her attention was drawn to something else.
Ise Kibo's bioelectric signals had entered the range and were slowing down. She immediately crouched back down on the edge of the roof, lowered her body, and gestured for Li An to look down.
An inconspicuous black car drove into the factory with its headlights off. The roof and hood were covered with a layer of black mist that blended almost into the night. The mist writhed slowly in the air, like some kind of living creature.
The car stopped in the open space in front of the factory, the engine was turned off, and the door was opened.
Ise Kibo stepped out of the driver's seat.
He didn't look like a professional assassin at all. Dressed in a stylish white suit, he was undeniably handsome, with a sharp jawline and pampered, almost jade-like white skin. He seemed completely out of place in the abandoned factory, like a rich young master who had wandered onto the wrong movie set.
He casually closed the car door, not in a hurry to observe the surrounding environment. Instead, he first bent down to straighten his cuffs and gently pulled his white suit jacket down to his waist.
His movements were relaxed and unhurried, like a scion of a wealthy family preparing to go on a date at an upscale restaurant.
In the palm of his right hand, a wisp of black mist was swirling silently.
The thick, inky black mist swirled and flowed between his long, slender, and fair fingers, like a living, black heart beating.
He casually fiddled with the black mist, as if he were playing with a lighter.
Ang Lee and Yuu looked down at the same time. The moonlight shone on the white suit, making it stand out starkly in the dark, abandoned industrial area.
Yuzu stared at the man in the white suit who was looking around in the open space, and said in a low voice with an almost sorrowful tone, "Wearing a white suit to kill someone, does he even consider himself a professional killer?"
Ang Lee didn't respond. He was scanning his surroundings out of the corner of his eye, mentally reviewing every possible escape route.
Suddenly, Yuzu slowly turned her head, looked at Li An who was squatting next to her, her lips moved, and her expression was full of physical discomfort.
"That's my handkerchief, isn't it? The old one... Why is it in his hands?"
The man in the white suit downstairs was taking out a handkerchief from his pocket and smelling it, then tilting his head back in a daze, before fixing his hair again in front of the car window.
Ang Lee did not answer the question. He brushed the dust off his knees and turned to walk towards the stairwell.
"Never mind what he's doing, go down and get ready."
Yuzu took a deep breath, buried her face in her hands and rubbed it hard a couple of times, trying to erase the scene she had just seen from her mind, before reluctantly standing up and following Li An downstairs.
On the first floor of the factory, as Ise Kibo walked through the main entrance, moonlight streamed in from behind him, casting a long shadow of himself in his white suit onto the dusty, industrial-waste-covered cement floor.
The abandoned production line was piled with rusty metal parts, broken conveyor belts hung in mid-air, and broken glass and waste plastic accumulated in the corners for who knows how many years.
The factory's power system had long been shut down, and the entire space was pitch black, with only a few rays of moonlight leaking through the cracks in the broken roof barely illuminating the general outlines of the objects.
The air smelled of dried engine oil and the stench of some small, rotting animal.
He held the phone up with the black mist and turned on the flashlight, the beam sweeping across the darkness.
Peeling paint on the walls, scattered trash on the ground, and a broken steel cable hanging from the ceiling flashed by in turn in the flashlight beam.
He walked along, lighting his way as he went, his pace neither hurried nor slow, showing no intention of concealment.
The spreading black mist is his eyes; any living creature within its radius will receive feedback from the black mist into his brain, making it more effective than his own eyes and ears.
Within this area shrouded in black mist, he is omniscient and omnipotent.
The beam of the flashlight swept across a broken concrete pillar and suddenly illuminated a human face.
