Chapter 121 Saint Michael

Chapter 121 Saint Michael

After Li An finished speaking, he activated [Code Psychic].

The phone screen in my pocket lit up, and a colorful light emerged from it, condensing in the air into a translucent little ghost emitting seven colors.

Veteran Boone exclaimed in surprise, "What is this?!"

Li pretended to reach out and grab the little ghost, holding it in his palm. The colorful light dyed his palm a soft, holy, warm hue.

He walked up to the veteran, squatted down, and hovered the hand holding the little ghost above the veteran's old boot on his right foot.

The little ghost danced gently in my palm, and colorful light shone on the old soldier's instep, making it look holy and warm.

Under the cover of this colorful light, several fine cracks appeared in Li An's palm, and flesh fibers emerged from the cracks, severing their connection with Li An's body and silently slipping into the old soldier's old boot, onto the injured foot that had been deformed for more than forty years.

The veteran was flattered by Ang Lee's treatment. He sat upright on the worn sofa, his hands on his knees, his fingers unconsciously picking at the tattered fabric on his knees.

Ang Lee lowered his head in focus, his hands stained with blood yet his movements were gentle. It had been many years since anyone had treated him so gently, the old soldier thought to himself.

"It will hurt a little," Li An said, looking up. The colorful light in his hand still enveloped the veteran's feet, and the flesh fibers pierced into the veteran's soles, beginning to fill the gaps.

Veteran Boone paused for a moment, then laughed. "It's nothing, Lord Saint Michael," the veteran said. "I've been blown up on the battlefield more than once back in the day. This little pain is nothing."

,

As soon as he finished speaking, intense pain surged up from the soles of his feet like a tidal wave, and the atrophied and necrotic muscles were replaced layer by layer by the detached flesh fibers.

The veteran's body tensed up instinctively. Li An could feel the muscles in his calves twitching violently, but he remained motionless, his expression as calm as a stone, with only his eyelids twitching occasionally.

The work of filling the soles of the feet was completed, and the flesh and blood fibers had all shrunk back into the palms under the cover of the light of the colorful little ghosts.

The veteran lowered his head and looked at his right foot, which had been damaged for decades. He tried to move his ankle and was surprised to feel a solid sensation of stepping on the ground!

The veteran's breathing quickened, and he eagerly tried to stand up by holding onto the wall. His right foot landed steadily on the muddy ground, and his heel touched the ground.

He is no longer lame; he walks on two feet like a normal person.

The old soldier stood in the bridge arch, his feet sinking into the mud, looking down at his right foot for a long, long time. Tears streamed down his wrinkled face.

He clasped his hands together, looked up at Ang Lee, and kept saying "thank you," "thank you," and "thank God" over and over. By the end, he was incoherent, his voice a mix of crying and laughing.

Ang Lee opened his palm and scattered the remaining colorful light in the air. The little ghost wobbled around once and then crawled back into his pocket.

After he finished performing the whole act, he waited for the veteran to calm down before speaking in a gentle tone.

"Russell Boone, do you have another friend who's sick right now? If you don't give him his medication soon, he might not survive the night."

Looking into the old soldier's eyes, which were exceptionally bright from being washed by tears, Ang Lee asked, "Do you want to save your friend?"

Upon hearing this, a fire ignited in the old soldier Boone's cloudy old eyes. Without hesitation, he nodded vigorously.

"I want to save him, I really want to. He is my comrade-in-arms. We have supported each other for several years, from the battlefield to the streets. I can't lose him!"

""

"Lost sheep, I will go with you to heal your poor friend."

Veteran Boone took a deep breath, straightened his chest, zipped his old jacket all the way up, straightened his collar, and then took a half step back with his right foot, which he could stand normally again, heel to toe.

He raised his right hand, fingers together, pointing at his temple, making a standard military salute.

Before God's angels, he expressed the highest respect he could offer in the most familiar way.

"Alright, alright." Li An raised his hand and pressed it down, signaling the veteran to put his hand down.

He said, with a mix of helplessness and embarrassment, "There's no need for this. I came down to earth to save you all; it's what I should do."

Veteran Boone lowered his hands from his temples, but his back remained ramrod straight.

Ang Lee pulled his phone out of his pocket, swiping the screen as he looked up and asked, "Is this the tent area in nearby V Park? You and your friends have been living there?"

"Yes, Lord Saint Michael," the veteran Boone replied immediately, his voice carrying the solemnity of a subordinate reporting to a superior.

"We are in the northeast corner of V Park, behind the grove of trees near the children's playground. The park rangers there don't come to chase people away much, and the trees are dense enough to block the wind."

""

Ang Lee looked up at the veteran and said, "There's no need to address me like that. I'm just an ordinary person now, just call me Ang Lee."

Veteran Boone immediately shook his head, his expression serious. "No, absolutely, it's a sign of my respect."

"You healed my leg, so you must be Archangel Michael. No matter what you look like or what clothes you wear now, you are with me."

He poked his chest with his withered fingers. "You are the Archangel!"

Ang Lee didn't continue the conversation. He lowered his head and quickly operated his phone screen, first opening the ride-hailing app, entering the address of V Park, and confirming that the pick-up location was at the intersection under the overpass.

The car was expected to arrive in seven minutes. While the veteran wasn't looking, Li An secretly switched to encrypted communication software, found the contact labeled "Scavenger Nigel," and quickly typed a message.

"Five underpasses, and one more in the K Park tent area behind the playground woods — location attached at the end."

The reply from the other end was three words: "Coming soon."

""

Ang Lee turned off his phone and looked up at the veteran Boone. The black oil drums in the bridge arch were still burning, and the light from the flames cast their shadows one in front of the other on the wall covered with graffiti and bloodstains.

Several more cars drove by on the overpass, the sound of tires rolling over the concrete coming from overhead before disappearing into the distance.

Ang Lee looked at the veteran standing solemnly in place and smiled gently.

"We'll get off the bus soon, we'll be there in no time."

,

Looking at the smile on his face, veteran Boone immediately became more serious. He felt that although the young man with blood on his face was indeed different from the archangel he had imagined, he was also not so different.
