Chapter 101 I Will Definitely Save You
Chapter 101 I Will Definitely Save You
Yuzu slowly descended from the sky. The arcs of electricity around her had not completely dissipated, and the remaining blue-white electric light danced between her shoulders and the ends of her hair, casting her face in alternating light and shadow.
Her feet landed silently on the edge of the hole, and she looked down.
Ang Lee walked to her side, his right arm still bearing the enormous, fleshy fist that hadn't yet deformed, and he looked down at her.
An irregular, large hole pierced through the ground, with several twisted steel bars protruding jaggedly from the broken cement slab, and gravel and dust were still falling from it.
Below the hole, several large concrete slabs and broken metal pipes lay on the ground. The dust had not yet completely settled, and the entire first floor was shrouded in a grayish-white haze.
A hand reached out from the ruins. Pushing aside the half-slab of floorboards that was pressing down on it, rubble tumbled down, and a human figure slowly sat up from the ruins amidst the dust and smoke, revealing a head split in two.
The head was split vertically from the center of the forehead to the upper jaw, with the two halves of the head symmetrically flipped open to the sides, like an open book.
The left and right eyes were each on one side, turning around blankly, their pupils unable to focus, each looking in a different direction.
On the inner wall of the cross-section, brain tissue was exposed, grayish-white and pale pink, all internal structures laid bare in the moonlight and dust. Blood continued to gush from deep within the wound, flowing down his palate in two streams.
Extremely fine black mist threads emerged from the brain tissue that had been cut in two, like countless black nerves and blood vessels, touching and intertwining with each other in the air, then suddenly tightening, pulling the two halves of the head together.
The two halves of the head were barely joined together by the pull of the black mist. The knife wound from the forehead to the upper jaw temporarily closed, leaving only a very thin line of blood on the skin, which could reopen at any moment.
"No—she wouldn't do that—" Ise Kibo sat in the ruins, his voice hoarse. His eyes were refocused in their sockets as he stared blankly at the devastated ruins before him.
Black mist slowly rose from his shoulder, gathering into a surging black halo behind Ise Kibo's head.
His two hemispheres finally closed completely, the brain tissue and skull reattached, and the black mist, like a stitch, transformed into a fine thread that sewn his brain back together.
Just as Ise Kibo's brain was completely stitched up, his eyes suddenly changed.
The tears in his eyes hadn't dried yet, and his eye sockets and nose were still red, but his expression changed from blank to an extremely fierce, as if he had found a reason to rage.
Ise Kibo suddenly raised his head, his gaze piercing through the swirling dust, fixed intently on Li An.
He raised a finger and pointed it at Ang Lee, his finger trembling violently with anger.
"You—you bastard—" Ise Kibo said each word as if he were gritting his teeth, carrying the pain of betrayal and the excitement of finding the reason.
"You have the ability to control corpses—Yuzu mentioned that in the hotel! Did you kill her and turn her into your puppet, controlling her to kill me?!"
""
As Ise Kibo spoke, his voice suddenly rose, transforming from a hoarse roar into an almost manic howl. He stood up from the ruins; his white suit was completely ruined, the tattered fabric stained with dust and blood.
His eyes had completely changed; they were no longer those of the wronged boy who had been wailing and crying, but rather those of a bloodthirsty thug who was willing to fight the whole world to protect the woman he loved.
"You want to break down my defenses this way, don't you?! Make me think I've been betrayed by the person I love most! To make me break down! To make me unable to resist, right? I won't let you succeed!!"
"Ise Kibo's voice echoed in the empty factory. Two black flames ignited in his eyes, and black mist surged from every pore of his body, spreading out a huge black curtain behind him.
"Pfft,"
Yuzu couldn't hold back any longer. She clutched her stomach, bent over, and burst into laughter.
She was laughing so hard her whole body was shaking. The tip of the samurai sword in her right hand was stuck into the ground to support her body, and her left hand was pointing at Ise Kibo, who looked righteous and awe-inspiring, in the ruins on the first floor. Her finger was also shaking because she couldn't stop laughing.
"Ha ha ha ha""
She laughed until she was out of breath, so much so that she had to use her left hand to wipe away the tears that had come out of the corners of her eyes. She then took several deep breaths before she could barely bring herself to return to a serious expression from her burst of laughter.
Her smile suddenly changed. Her innocent and lovely doll-like face turned down at the corners of her mouth, her brows furrowed, her round eyes quickly filled with tears, her lips trembled, and her voice was trembling with sobs.
"Help—it hurts so much, I'm being controlled! My body won't obey me—" She raised her katana, waving the blade wildly in front of her, making stiff movements as if she were being controlled by an invisible hand, her eyes deliberately vacant, as if she were truly being controlled by some evil force.
"Ise-kun—come save me! Kill the person who's manipulating me and rescue me from his clutches—"
She maintained that tearful expression for a moment, then immediately broke character, bursting into laughter and bending over again, laughing even louder than before.
Ise Kibo stood in the ruins on the first floor, looking up at Yuzuo, who was laughing so hard she was doubled over, by the hole on the second floor.
Her laughter and her "cry for help" reached his ears at the same time, but he only heard the latter.
His eyes flashed with a frightening ferocity in that instant, and the pain and grievance on his face were simultaneously replaced by relief and joy. Just as he had thought, it was exactly the same. Yuzu hadn't betrayed him; Yuzu had simply been controlled.
"I see! Yuzu, don't be afraid!!"
""
Black mist coiled around his body like a swarm of snakes. Ise Kibo clenched his fists and let out a deafening roar.
The surrounding ruins were all blasted away by the sudden burst of black mist. Shattered stones, steel bars, and broken pipes spun above him, forming a small storm of debris as they were carried by the black mist.
Ise Kibo stomped through the ruins beneath his feet, rising into the air, the black mist dragging him straight up through the hole leading to the second floor.
Yuzu retracted her hand, wiped away the tears of laughter from her eyes, and looked at the rapidly approaching dark figure below. With a flick of her wrist, the lightning on her katana lit up again, illuminating the smile on her face.
"Idiot."
Ang Lee nudged Yuzu from the side.
"Stop watching the show. How do we deal with these things that won't die even if you cut off their heads?"
Yuzu was elbowed half a step, rubbed her chest where she was elbowed, and pouted: "It's very simple, just destroy the spine. The reason we can break our heads and not die is simply because we transferred our consciousness to the spine and then regenerated it."
"The head is just an ornament; the spine is the real body. If you break his spine, his consciousness has nowhere to transfer, and even the strongest regenerative ability is useless."
"Oh—I see," Ang Lee said.
Before the words were even finished, the two of them jumped to opposite sides at the same time.
Almost at the same instant they left their original spot, Ise Kibo's body, enveloped in black mist, crashed down like a black meteorite onto the spot where they had just been standing.
The ground on the second-floor platform shattered with a deafening crash as his feet landed, the floorboards cracking open in a spiderweb pattern, and the entire second floor shook violently from the impact.
