Underworld Chronicles: Qiao Si's Strategist, Xiao Ke, and Wang Weifan

Chapter 19 Waiting for a Rabbit to Run into a Tree Stump

Zhang Guangyue wrapped the hunting rifle in a tattered newspaper, hid it in his clothes, crossed his arms, and ran back.

"Big brother, it's done." Zhang Guangyue peeked the end of his hunting rifle out of his pocket and showed it to Xiao Ke.

"Do you have bullets?" Little K asked.

That's a must, 10 rounds!

"Let's go, there are too many people around here, let's go check out a secluded place." Xiao Ke said, and he, Wang Zhi, and Zhang Guangyue went to a secluded place.

After looking around to make sure no one was there, Xiao Ke asked Zhang Guangyue to bring out the hunting rifle. Xiao Ke lit a cigarette, picked up the rifle, and examined it.

"Here, give me a bullet. Let me see if this damn thing works." Little K ordered.

Zhang Guangyue pulled a bullet out of his pocket and handed it to Xiao Ke. Xiao Ke, with a cigarette dangling from his mouth, loaded the bullet. "Let me see this damn thing..."

Bang! Just as Xiao Ke loaded the bullets, before he could finish speaking, the shotgun went off with a bang. Luckily, the muzzle was pointing upwards, so no one was hurt.

Xiao Ke, Wang Zhi, and Zhang Guangyue were all startled. Xiao Ke immediately threw the gun to the ground, and the three of them ran backward.

After running more than 10 meters, Xiao Ke and the other two stopped. Xiao Ke spat out the cigarette butt in his mouth and said, "Damn it, how could this piece of junk go off? It scared the hell out of me."

"That sound was pretty powerful. Look, the muzzle is still smoking," Wang Zhi said.

"It can even hunt wild boars, so you can imagine how powerful it is. My friend's dad once killed a 300-pound wild boar with it, and I even ate the meat. It was so damn delicious!" Zhang Guangyue said.

Little Ke went back and picked up the gun. "This thing is pretty good," he thought. "If those idiots really come looking for us, we'll use this to put them in their place."

Little Ke wrapped the gun up again with old newspapers, took it back to his uncle's house, and hid it under his own bed.

The three Yuan brothers did nothing but search all over Harbin for a person who was about 1.6 meters tall, with long hair, single eyelids, a round face, a sly look, and who was quite good at gambling.

Harbin is only so big, and there are only so many gamblers. After asking around, one of the gamblers said to one of the henchmen sent by the Yuan family, "Is the person you're looking for Xiao Ke? I ran into him at a gambling den in Daowai last time. He was pretty good at the game, and he won several thousand in Texas Hold'em."

"Do you know where this person you're talking about lives?" asked the younger brother of the Yuan family.

"Old Wang's house on the edge of Nangang, the one where they set up a few small mahjong games. You can find out by asking around. What do you want with him? I heard this guy isn't very tall, but he's pretty tough. The other day he chopped off one of some thug's ears and knocked out all his teeth, not a single one left. He's really ruthless," the gambler said.

"Really? Is it that good? Thanks, brother. Here, take this." The younger brother of the Yuan family took out a pack of cigarettes, stuffed it into the gambler's hand, and ran back to report.

Upon hearing news of Xiao Ke, the Yuan brothers' eyes widened. "Third brother," the eldest brother instructed, "take some men and go find out if it's him. If it is, don't act rashly. Come back and call for reinforcements; we'll go and take him down together."

"Okay, I'll go right now." Yuan Laosan said, taking two of his henchmen with him as they headed towards Nangang District. After arriving in Nangang District, they inquired about several local gamblers and, without much effort, Yuan Laosan found Xiao Ke's cousin's house.

Yuan Laosan and two of his underlings kept watch near Xiao Ke's cousin's house to determine whether the people living there were actually from their casino.

Not long after, Yuan Laosan saw a short man and two tall men come outside to smoke. The short man was none other than Xiao Ke, who had been to their casino before. Yuan Laosan had lost so badly the first time that he would recognize Xiao Ke even if he were reduced to ashes.

After confirming that it was indeed Xiao Ke, Yuan Laosan led his two henchmen back to Daoli District and informed Yuan Laoda and Yuan Laoer.

"Third brother, gather the men and go take care of him now. Second brother, stay home and recover from your injuries, don't go," said the eldest brother, Yuan.

"Brother, I have to go! Damn it, how did he do this to me? I'm going to pay him back tenfold, or I won't be able to get over this!" Yuan Lao Er shouted.

"Alright, don't do anything yet when you get there. Wait until we've taken him down, then you can go and get revenge," said Boss Yuan.

The three Yuan brothers gathered more than 20 people, carrying large machetes and batons, and rode eight motorcycles, with three people on each motorcycle, and swaggered towards Xiao Ke and his group.

At this time, Xiao Ke's cousin's family was playing mahjong, and there were more than 20 people watching the fun. They were playing enthusiastically, while Xiao Ke was sleeping soundly in the inner room, and Wang Zhi and Zhang Guangyue were watching the fun in the outer room.

Suddenly, the sound of a motorcycle came rushing in. It stopped abruptly in front of Uncle Xiao Ke's house with a bang, and the three Yuan brothers, along with a group of people, kicked the door open and entered.

Uncle Xiao Ke and the others thought that Hat had come to inspect the place, and they were all startled and hurriedly stood up.

When Wang Zhi and Zhang Guangyue saw Yuan Lao Er and Yuan Lao San, they knew they had come for revenge. They exchanged a glance, then crouched down and sneaked into the inner room.

Old Yuan walked in front, holding onto the mahjong table near the door with one hand. He flipped the table over with a whoosh, and the mahjong tiles fell to the ground with a clatter.

"Damn it, everyone stand still! Nobody move!" Old Yuan shouted, pulling out a large cleaver.

When Xiao Ke's uncle saw this, he wondered who this person was who had come to ruin his little place. He hadn't offended anyone recently. With a smile on his face, Xiao Ke's uncle took a cigarette and ran over to Boss Yuan's side in three steps.

"Brother, come on, have a cigarette. Is there some misunderstanding? Did you get the wrong person?" Xiao Ke's uncle said, taking out a cigarette and offering it to him.

"Fuck you, search him!" Old Master Yuan shoved the cigarette out of Uncle Xiao Ke's hand and ordered without even acknowledging him.

Yuan Lao Er and Yuan Lao San, along with more than 20 underlings, began comparing faces one by one to find Xiao Ke. After looking around, they found that Xiao Ke was not among them.

Seeing that the door to the inner room was closed, Yuan Lao Er kicked it open and prepared to lead his men to search the inner room.

But as soon as Yuan Lao Er took a step inside with his large cleaver, he stared wide-eyed in disbelief as a dark gun barrel was pressed against his forehead.

The one holding the gun was none other than Xiao Ke, whom they were looking for. Standing next to Xiao Ke were Wang Zhi, who was holding a baton, and Zhang Guangyue, who was holding a dagger.

Old Yuan was so frightened that he dropped the large cleaver in his hand. He raised his hands, but Xiao Ke held a gun to his head and slowly retreated to the outer room.

"All of you, put down your weapons, or I'll shoot him dead!" Little K shouted calmly.

Next, what will be the reactions of Yuan Lao Da and Yuan Lao San when they see Lao Er being held at gunpoint by Xiao Ke? Stay tuned for the next episode.
