Wang Jinzhu followed Chen Tianfang, walking down the mountain one after the other.

It's called a small river, but it's actually just a stream flowing down from the mountains. The water isn't deep, and it's crystal clear, so you can clearly see the smooth pebbles on the bottom and the occasional small fish swimming by.

"Could there be any big fish here? They all look so small." Wang Jinzhu rolled up her trousers and tentatively put her feet into the water. The icy stream water made her shiver, but she quickly got used to it.

Chen Tianfang didn't say anything, but simply untied the bow and arrows from his back and the machete from his waist and placed them on the rocks on the bank. Then he rolled up his trousers and went into the water, his movements much more agile than Wang Jinzhu's.

Unlike Wang Jinzhu, he wasn't loud and boisterous; he simply squinted and searched the water. Children raised in the mountains have an innate sensitivity to these things.

Seeing his serious expression, Wang Jinzhu didn't want to disturb him any longer, so she found something to amuse herself. She stepped into the water and used her feet to turn over the stones, trying to see if there were any small crabs hiding underneath.

Instead of finding the crab, he slipped and fell backward with a cry of "Ouch!"

Oh no, I'm going to fall flat on my backside! Wang Jinzhu's heart tightened, and she instinctively closed her eyes.

The expected pain didn't come; instead, she fell into a strong embrace. A masculine scent, a mixture of sweat and grass, instantly enveloped her.

Wang Jinzhu opened her eyes and met Chen Tianfang's deep eyes. He had one arm firmly around her waist and the other supporting her arm. They were so close that she could feel his heartbeat, thump, thump, fast and strong.

"Be careful." Chen Tianfang's voice was a little hoarse, and he tried to let go of her hand after saying that.

Wang Jinzhu instinctively grabbed his arm, saying thank you.

There's something strange about this atmosphere.

She quickly regained her balance, stepped out of his embrace, and casually patted her clothes, saying, "This stone is too slippery."

Chen Tianfang hummed in agreement, but his eyes didn't leave her. After a while, he turned his head away, the tips of his ears turning slightly red.

Wang Jinzhu secretly rejoiced. This man, though tall and imposing, was like a block of wood. They'd been sleeping in the same bed for so long, and he still blushed when she tried to hug him.

"Well, you keep looking for fish, I won't move." Wang Jinzhu found a large rock on the shore and sat down, obediently watching him.

Chen Tianfang was very efficient. Unlike a headless fly, he didn't rush around aimlessly. Instead, he targeted areas with abundant aquatic plants or crevices between rocks. He had excellent eyesight. When he saw the shadow of a fish, he would approach silently, then plunge his hands into the water. When he came out, he would have a small, lively fish about the size of his palm in his hands.

The fish struggled desperately in his hand, and the water droplets from its tail splashed all over Wang Jinzhu's face.

"You're amazing!" Wang Jinzhu wiped her face and praised sincerely. This is a completely natural and pollution-free wild fish; it must taste delicious.

Chen Tianfang seemed even more motivated after receiving the praise. He used a flexible twig to skewer the fish he caught through their gills, and soon he had skewered four or five fish.

"Is that enough to eat?" he asked Wang Jinzhu, holding up the string of fish.

"That's enough, that's enough. If you catch any more, we won't be able to finish eating them all." Wang Jinzhu nodded repeatedly.

After the two went ashore, Chen Tianfang found a sheltered spot, skillfully used a machete to cut some dry branches, and then found some stones to build a simple stove.

Wang Jinzhu was in charge of processing the fish. Since she didn't have a knife, she found a sharp stone and, imitating Chen Tianfang, gutted the fish, scraped off the scales, and then washed them clean by the stream.

By the time she finished, Chen Tianfang had already started a fire. The orange-red flames leaped and crackled, instantly warming the surroundings.

Chen Tianfang skewered the fish with sharpened branches and grilled them over a fire.

Soon, the aroma of fish wafted out. No salt, no seasonings, just the pure, natural freshness and fragrance, making Wang Jinzhu's mouth water.

"Do you often eat like this alone in the mountains?" Wang Jinzhu couldn't help but ask, watching his practiced movements.

"Hmm." Chen Tianfang nodded as he turned the grilled fish. "Sometimes when we get back late from hunting, we just grab a bite in the mountains."

Wang Jinzhu felt a pang of sadness. She could imagine a silent boy, alone in the deep mountains, tending a campfire, eating roasted prey. How unbearable that loneliness must be.

The fish was quickly grilled, its skin golden brown and sizzling with oil. Chen Tianfang handed the best-grilled fish to Wang Jinzhu.

Wang Jinzhu took it, not caring that it was hot, blew on it a couple of times and took a big bite.

"Mmm...delicious!" The fish was tender and had a pleasant aroma of firewood. It was so delicious that she wanted to swallow her tongue.

She ate until her cheeks were bulging, like a little squirrel stealing a bite. Chen Tianfang watched her eat, his own fish untouched for a long time, a smile in his eyes that he himself didn't even realize.

After finishing the fish, Wang Jinzhu felt a little bland in her mouth. She stood up and wandered around the neighborhood, looking for some wild fruit to eat.

She actually found it. There was a patch of wild strawberries not far away, bright red and looking very tempting.

"Tianfang, come and see!" she waved excitedly.

The two picked a handful of wild strawberries, washed them clean with the stream water, and sat on a rock to share them. The sweet and sour fruit perfectly balanced the richness of the grilled fish.

Sunlight filtered through the leaves, dappling the two of them. The sounds of flowing water and birdsong filled the air. Forget the troublesome people and events of the Chen family; it was just the two of them.

Wang Jinzhu felt that this was the life she wanted: peaceful, tranquil, and with a handsome man by her side.

She looked at Chen Tianfang's profile beside her. He was eating strawberries with his head down, his Adam's apple bobbing up and down with each swallow, giving him an indescribable sexiness.

A thought suddenly occurred to Wang Jinzhu.

She leaned over and quickly kissed him on the cheek.

Soft and warm.

After kissing her, he tried to pull away, but his wrist was grabbed.

Chen Tianfang suddenly turned his head, his eyes wide open, like a startled rabbit. His face turned red from the base of his neck to the tips of his ears at a visible speed.

"What...what are you doing?" he stammered, but the strength with which he gripped her wrist was astonishing.

Looking at his innocent appearance, Wang Jinzhu's little schemes all turned into blatant teasing.

She blinked, feigning ignorance: "I didn't do anything, I just saw there was something on your face and helped you remove it."

Chen Tianfang's mind went blank with a "buzz".

Is there something on my face?

He subconsciously raised his other hand and touched the spot where he had been kissed. A trace of warmth and softness remained there, clearly reminding him of what had just happened.

There was nothing there.

She's lying.

Does she like him or not? If she doesn't like him, why did she kiss him? If she likes him, why won't she become his wife?

Chen Tianfang's heart was pounding like a drum, making his chest numb. He looked at the woman in front of him; her eyes were bright and sparkling. He wanted to kiss her like she did, but he wondered if she would hit him!

Thinking about it, Chen Tianfang slowly moved closer to Wang Jinzhu and kissed her lips. They were so soft and bouncy that he didn't want to let go and only wanted to continue exploring inside her.

Wang Jinzhu was almost breathless from his kisses. You little rascal, you've learned so quickly without any instruction!

Pushing Chen Tianfang away forcefully with both hands, Wang Jinzhu took a deep breath of fresh air. Looking at his wife's lips, red from his kisses and glistening with saliva, Chen Tianfang wanted to kiss her again, but Wang Jinzhu glared at him and stopped him.

It's alright, it's alright, there's plenty of time in the future. Chen Tianfang was as happy as a cat that had just stolen some fish. As for his wife thinking that sixteen was still too young, he would just wait and see!

After all, his wife is so pampered in her own family that she might still be treated like a child by her mother-in-law even at 16.

On the way down the mountain, Chen Tianfang held Wang Jinzhu's hand the whole time, and the air seemed to be filled with a sweet fragrance.

This pleasant atmosphere only dissipated when he arrived home and saw his parents. He turned to leave, knowing he had to put pressure on them, otherwise their immaturity would hold Jinzhu back.
