Farming Life Starting in Africa

Chapter 99 The Whole Story

Upon hearing the name, Rosen's expression shifted from confusion to amusement. "Haha? You're hilarious! We've only met a few times and we're already boyfriend and girlfriend? That's too hasty! Okay, you're so boring. Stop hitting me, I haven't finished my meal yet."

As he spoke, he pretended to hang up the phone.

Big Daddy's voice suddenly rose, "Honey Badger! If you don't come, I'll find a way to catch your uncle and—"

"Stop bragging," Rosen interrupted him, his tone full of disdain. "He's floating on the sea off Ivia. Go get him, and kill him as soon as you catch him. Remember to let me know before you go so I can contact the estate lawyer—that way, all his property will be mine."

The old man was silent for two seconds.

Then--

"Smack."

The call was disconnected.

The bridge was quiet.

The people around were speechless, and they were all a little worried for the kidnapper.

Political Commissar Zhao Haiguang stood in the corner, his expression quite interesting.

Captain Gao Yun opened his mouth, then closed it again. He looked at Rosen as if he were looking at an alien who didn't play by the rules.

Rosen turned to Leng Feng and shrugged: "See, he hanged himself. It's not my fault."

Leng Feng took a deep breath and carefully considered his words, "Aren't you afraid he'll really make a move? There are dozens of Chinese people in the steel plant."

Rosen sighed. He wasn't a saint. What if someone kidnapped his neighbors, cats, dogs, or anything else and used them to threaten him? Wouldn't that be terrible? Would it turn the world into the ultimate version of the "Rescue" series?

He, Rosen, is not Liam Neeson, nor does he have a daughter who is so powerful that she needs to be saved.

But he also knew that the people in the steel mill were innocent.

"Are you crazy? Do you think agreeing to his conditions will change his mind about kidnapping us? His target is both of us."

Gao Yun thought for a moment before saying, "Tell me the whole story first, I'm completely confused by what you've heard." His tone was both the composure of a soldier and the curiosity of an ordinary person.

Rosen then recounted their entire experience of rescuing people at the Chinese-owned St. Francis Hospital, and also mentioned Dr. Chen and the Ramanla virus.

At this point, Rosen still couldn't figure out how these mercenaries had found the Hanbang Steel Plant.

Wasn't the female doctor he mentioned sent to the port before? How did she end up at Hanbang Steel Plant?

While Gao Yun was pondering how to handle the situation, Rosen dialed Zhuo Weixi's number; she was sure to have some clues. "Miss Zhuo, where are you having fun?"

"Brother Sen, hehe, I'm still on the cargo ship off the coast of Ivia. What about you?"

"Me? I'm also on the sea off Ivia, but I'm on a warship."

"Huh? A warship?" Zhuo Weixi's voice rose an octave. "Brother Sen, are you going back to China too?"

"The matter of returning to China is still undecided. I have a question for you: is your brother still working at the steel factory?"

"Yes, he's been over there the whole time. What's wrong?"

"What about your doctor friend? Is she also at the steel mill?" Rosen asked, his eyes fixed on the large pile of expensive machines in the command room, clearly envious and wanting to possess them.

Zhuo Weixi's tone became somewhat strange. "I had someone send her to the steel mill. She's an American citizen, and she has a local child with her, so it's not convenient for her to board the evacuation ship. I'm letting her stay at the factory for a while, and we'll make other plans once things stabilize in Uller. What's wrong, Brother Sen? What happened?"

Only after hearing this did Rosen reconnect the line.

It was the female doctor and the little girl who were sent to the steel mill. The mercenaries had followed the little girl all the way there. It seems the people at the steel mill were just innocent bystanders caught in the crossfire.

But what was Lin Zhixiong's situation, and how did he end up being shot? This puzzled him.

"It's nothing," Rosen tried to sound as relaxed as possible. "Your brother has probably been kidnapped. I just got a call from the kidnappers saying they've taken over Hanbang Steel Plant."

"Huh? Kidnappers?!" Zhuo Weixi's voice instantly changed tone. "What kidnappers? Who kidnapped him? How is my brother? Didn't He Jianguo say the steel mill was safe?"

Rosen felt somewhat helpless upon hearing this, unable to explain to her what He Jianguo meant by safety. Facing a small group of rebels, there was certainly no problem.

He Jianguo's abilities are indeed quite good; the company commander of the reconnaissance company in the Southwest Military Region is no ordinary person.

If they were the reconnaissance company commanders from the old Laoshan campaign, then what they did was no different from what superheroes could do.

Asking He Jianjun to lead a group of rookies to defend against a sneak attack by a group of elite mercenaries is asking too much of them.

"It was the group of mercenaries who were looking for Dr. Chen at the hospital who did it. The doctor left, and they couldn't find him, so they could only look for that young girl. You sent them to the steel mill, and your brother and his men just happened to walk into the line of fire."

"Then my brother..." Zhuo Weixi's voice was a little somber. It seemed that she had done a good deed but ended up harming her own brother.

"Don't worry," Rosen said, his tone reassuring. "I'm talking to the people on the warship and in the navy about it. Don't panic, stay on the ship and don't wander around. I'll also try to figure out a way to get things done with your brother."

Since we're going to Basem town anyway, we might as well herd one sheep or a whole flock.

"Brother Sen," Zhuo Weixi's voice lowered, "be careful."

"Understood." Rosen hung up the phone and looked at Gao Yun beside him. "Captain Gao, this group of mercenaries went to the steel mill because they were tracking the little girl carrying the vaccine."

Leng Feng, who had been waiting impatiently, immediately spoke up after hearing Rosen's words: "Then let's hurry back! If we drive there now, we can get there before dawn if we're quick. They might still be in that steel factory, maybe they haven't had time to leave yet!"

Rosen sighed. "Leng Feng, calm down. By the time we get there, they'll all be gone. Guess where they're going?"

Leng Feng was stunned for a moment.

"where?"

Rosen didn't answer, but turned to look at Miao Feng. Miao Feng swallowed hard when Rosen looked at him. "He said it himself... that Rosen should go to that town of Basem to find him. He mentioned that place twice on the phone."

Leng Feng's eyes changed instantly, and his words were filled with murderous intent. "Then let's go!"

"Hey, Superman!" Rosen tilted his head and looked at him. "You know the way? There are at least a dozen professional mercenaries! Do you think this is a video game? You and I are just going to rush in and get ourselves killed?"

"Why isn't it working? We're here—"

Rosen glared at him, telling him to shut up.

Leng Feng's words caught in his throat and he swallowed them back.
