Chapter 95 News about Deng Mei

Captain Gao Yun turned around from the command platform, holding a document in his hand.

"Political Commissar, we just received a call from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs," Gao Yun said with a serious expression. "They said a French-Chinese journalist named Xia Nan contacted them through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' hotline from a temporary government army assembly point seventy kilometers away."

He paused. "This reporter said she witnessed Zarqa's group kidnapping a group of employees at Green Valley Energy yesterday. One of them was a Chinese citizen named Deng Mei."

"Deng Mei?" He Qingliu exclaimed in surprise, "She's really been kidnapped?"

Gao Yun frowned and turned to He Qingliu: "Consul He, what's going on? You also received news of Deng Mei's kidnapping?"

"The men who came with us just now received a message saying that Deng Mei was kidnapped yesterday, and they came here to look for her. We haven't been able to contact her all day either."

Political Commissar Zhao Haiguang looked at Gao Yun, his brows furrowed slightly: "How credible is it? Has the identity of this reporter, Xia Nan, been verified?"

"We have made contact with Xia Nan, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has confirmed her identity," Gao Yun said. "Our superiors have coordinated with the Ivia government to send armed helicopters and support troops to carry out the rescue."

Zhao Haiguang thought for a moment, then turned to the armed guards behind him and said, "Go and bring over those people who came with the convoy."

He looked at Gao Yun and added, "Let me double-check the reliability of the intelligence. Since these people are also looking for Deng Mei, they might know something we don't yet have."

Gao Yun nodded, and the armed guards stood at attention, saluted, and quickly walked out.

Near the checkpoint of the Linyi warship.

Rosen and Leng Feng stood next to the pickup truck, showing no intention whatsoever of going through the inspection to board the warship.

They had other things to take care of. Ma Xiao had already registered and went to find Pan Wenjia through the embassy or consulate.

Miao Feng, on the other hand, seemed eager to try, his face clearly showing that he didn't want to leave.

Rosen leaned against the hood of the car, lit a cigarette, and turned to look at Leng Feng.

"If we could get information about the Dane Company," Rosen said slowly, exhaling a puff of smoke, "what are you planning to do?"

Leng Feng's eyes flickered. He lowered his head and rubbed a small pebble on the ground with the sole of his shoe.

"Let's go check the situation first," Leng Feng said, his eyes flickering. "Um, you..."

Rosen knew perfectly well what was going on with his awkward demeanor. This guy wanted to ask for a favor, but was too embarrassed to do so.

Rosen chuckled. "Do you want me to help you? Just say so. Don't be so coy, acting like a shy young lady."

Leng Feng scratched his head sheepishly; he really couldn't handle such a large group of people by himself. The Dane Company's base in Ivia had at least several dozen well-equipped and highly trained personnel. For him to charge in alone would be tantamount to suicide.

Moreover, if he wanted to know how Long Xiaoyun died and where her body was, he needed to capture key personnel from Dane Company. He had absolutely no confidence in doing it alone.

"I can go with you this time," Rosen flicked his cigarette butt into the trash can next to him, "but... after this is over, are you interested in going to America with me? I'm planning to go there to develop my career in a few days."

When Leng Feng agreed to join the team to rescue Ma Xiao and Miao Feng without hesitation, Rosen had already thought of helping him out and recruiting him as well.

There are all sorts of monsters and demons in this world. Even a hero needs three helpers, and a fence needs three posts. No matter how good Rosen is at fighting, he can't possibly handle everything alone.

Leng Feng is at least a trustworthy person, not to mention his outstanding personal abilities. His marksmanship, hand-to-hand combat, and wilderness survival skills are all far superior to those of ordinary people.

Besides, there's still money to be made out of Dane Corporation. Although taking down Dane Corporation would be difficult, Rosen could still catch them off guard with a well-planned surprise attack.

When Leng Feng heard that Rosen had agreed to help, he was overjoyed. He nodded repeatedly, like a chicken pecking at rice, and the corners of his mouth stretched almost to his ears.

"Okay! Okay! No problem!" he said. "After I get my revenge, I don't care where I go."

Rosen smiled, about to say something, when he turned his head and saw Miao Feng still standing there, his face practically radiating an expression that said, "I have something to say."

"Brother Miao, why don't you want to go home?" Rosen asked.

Miao Feng hesitated for a moment, "Well... actually, I'm not in such a hurry to go back to China."

Hearing this, Rosen rolled his eyes. "Give me a break. If you don't go back soon, aren't you afraid your girlfriend will run away?"

Miao Feng's face immediately darkened. He opened his mouth, but didn't say anything.

Rosen knew what he was thinking. Tilting his head, he looked at him and said, "You don't actually think you can make money easily on this trip, do you?"

Miao Feng gave an awkward laugh.

"Brother Miao, don't be silly. This time, we're not facing those poor bastards from the Iron Army. The equipment the Dane Company has here is top-notch—they even have tanks."

He paused, took a drag of his cigarette, and looked into Miao Feng's eyes. "And we also have to face the Zaka organization. They're a bunch of lunatics; suicide bombings and self-destructing trucks are routine for them. They buy all their equipment from the Ivia government forces. If you really dare to come along, we can't take care of you. Your marksmanship is terrible; if you run into danger, you can only hope you're lucky."

Miao Feng stammered, "I can drive... help you control the drones... I can do logistics..."

Hearing that last sentence, Rosen was actually quite tempted. Putting everything else aside, at least Miao Feng's cooking was impeccable. But he still shook his head.

"Brother Miao, you can earn money anytime, but you only have one life. You're an only child. Your parents only have you as their son. What will they do if something happens to you? Who will take care of them in their old age and see them off in their final days?"

Hearing Rosen's straightforward explanation, Miao Feng sighed.

He knew he had acted impulsively, blinded by greed. He was only thinking about how, if he could help take down the leader of Zaka's organization, he could get a huge bounty—money he could never earn in a lifetime.

But he didn't consider whether he could bear the worst possible outcome if he got involved.

"Alright," Rosen patted him on the shoulder, "Go back and get married properly, live a good life. I'll send you a red envelope when the baby is a month old. If you can't stay idle, and I need any goods from China, you can help me get them. There will be plenty of opportunities to make money."

Seeing that Rosen was considering his feelings and didn't intend to drag him into the battle, Miao Feng's eyes reddened, and he nodded vigorously.

Just then, a sergeant major in a naval uniform walked over.

"Greetings, comrades," he saluted, "I have received orders from the captain to bring you aboard the ship."
