Farming Life Starting in Africa
Chapter 464 What to do now that you've made a fortune?
Just as everyone was laughing and joking, a broken English voice came from the edge of the crowd: "Want to know how I plan to spend my money after I become rich?"
Everyone turned to look and saw Santos walking over with a stainless steel plate piled high with several dark, charred steaks and patties, their surfaces blackened and emitting wisps of smoke—a truly disastrous sight.
He bent down and placed the plate heavily in the middle of the table, then grabbed a bottle of chilled beer next to him and took a big gulp.
All eyes were immediately drawn to the plate of roasted meat, their brows furrowed in unison, and a strong, burnt smell filled the air, making it impossible to eat just by looking at it.
Leo, who was busy working nearby, immediately became unhappy. Holding the barbecue tongs, he turned around and pointed at Santos, "What do you mean? Questioning my cooking skills? I learned this grilling technique from your sister; that's how she taught me!"
Santos looked disgusted: "Don't be ridiculous! My sister used to grill meat like this when she was little, and it ended up sending my mom to the hospital and leaving us with a huge medical bill. You dare to learn her cooking?"
The two of them started bickering over a plate of burnt roasted meat, arguing back and forth with great enthusiasm.
Roman reached out and picked up a piece of charred meat. As soon as he brought it close, the pungent smell of burnt meat hit his nostrils.
His lips were still a little swollen, but the smell made his features contort into a grimace, his expression twisted and disgusted, making him look ridiculously comical.
He turned to look at Gisele and Rosen, who were lounging on the sofa not far away, and asked curiously, "So, what about you two? What's the first thing you want to do after becoming rich overnight?"
Rosen just shook his head with amusement, not intending to reply at all.
His own net worth was already over 100 million, and he made a fortune from a business trip to Southeast Asia. This so-called huge sum of money was really nothing to him.
Giselle, standing to the side, suddenly brightened up and blurted out with a smile, "I want to open my own gun shop, where I can display all kinds of guns and play whichever one I want."
Rosen chuckled and gently ruffled her hair. "Isn't that simple? When we get back, we can just pick an existing gun shop and buy it."
At that moment, Mia came back from the bathroom and sat down next to Brian.
The quick-witted Roman immediately grabbed an unopened bottle of wine from the table and handed it to her. "Mia, it's your turn! How do you and Brian plan to squander the money?"
Brian didn't reply, but casually took the bottle of wine. Roman immediately looked displeased and yelled, "Hey! You already have one! This one is for Mia, don't take it!"
To everyone's surprise, Brian shook his head immediately, his tone very gentle, "No, she can't drink."
Roman was stunned by this. "Huh? What do you mean? Why can't I drink alcohol?"
Brian didn't explain directly. He simply lowered his head, his fingertips gently brushing against Mia's lower abdomen. Then he raised his head, grinning with a bright and happy smile as he looked at the puzzled crowd.
Roman instantly understood. His previously swollen mouth widened into a wide grin, his face a mixture of shock and ecstasy: "Did I hear that right? You're kidding? Mia's pregnant? My God, this is amazing! It's a deal, I have to be the godfather of this child! Nobody can take her from me!"
The good news spread instantly throughout the room, and everyone immediately stood up, their faces full of genuine joy. They took turns embracing Brian and Mia, warmly congratulating them on the upcoming arrival of their new baby.
The cool evening breeze carried the warmth of the charcoal fire and the laughter of the crowd, instantly filling the dilapidated car factory with a sense of happiness.
Just as everyone was immersed in this sudden joy, Rosen's cell phone started vibrating at an inopportune moment, sounding particularly jarring in the now quiet car factory.
Rosen's smile vanished instantly, his expression darkened, and he quickly pulled out his phone.
The location information flashing on his phone screen was getting closer and closer. He glanced at the location data and the pop-up notification, his expression turning serious. "Don! Hobbs's here. He should have found our location by now!"
One second they were laughing and having a joyous time, the next second everyone's smiles vanished completely, replaced by seriousness and confusion in their eyes.
Brian frowned and immediately pressed, "How did you know?"
"The time we fought them on the hillside, I secretly planted a miniature GPS tracker on their car, and I haven't removed it since." Rosen stared at the constantly flashing red dot on his phone screen and continued, "The location now shows they're only two kilometers away and are rushing here at full speed!"
Tang's eyes sharpened, his tone decisive and leaving no room for argument. He ordered in a deep voice, "I'll stay and destroy all the data! All of you, leave immediately! Take all your personal belongings with you, and leave no trace! Hurry!"
Without a single wasted word, everyone immediately split up and took action.
Rosen reached out and picked up the small mask-making machine from the table, casually stuffed it into the trunk of the Aston Martin, locked the lid, turned around and pulled Gisele beside him. The two quickly got into the car, the engine humming softly, ready to leave at any moment.
Pan Sheng, Liang Anna, and Murdoch carried only their equipment; a few drones and military-grade laptops were all their belongings.
The three quickly jumped into the pickup truck next to them, stepped on the gas, and the tires screeched as they sped away, right behind Rosen's sports car.
Immediately afterwards, Leo, Santos, and Tej also quickly packed up, took their computers, spare explosives, and other essential supplies, and followed the convoy in front, driving away from the scene.
In just a few dozen seconds, most of the people in the car factory had left, leaving only Tang, Brian, and a few others to stay and finish up.
They raced against time, loading all the action plans, police station blueprints, and mission documents they had been working on late into the night into the vehicle.
Any paper documents that couldn't be taken with them were simply tossed into the roaring charcoal fire, where flames instantly flared up and quickly consumed all traces.
But Hobbes was much faster than they had anticipated.
Just as Tang closed the trunk, Brian turned around to open the car door, and the two were about to get in and leave.
Suddenly, a deep, violent engine roar came from afar, the sound growing louder as it approached, carrying an intense sense of oppression, and brutally ripped through the night sky.
