Chapter 234 Winning the Game
Gisele looked at the Dodge's taillights with a helpless expression. She had already used up her nitrous oxide boost, and using it again would only result in the engine exploding and the car breaking down.
She already knew she had no chance of winning. Gisele smiled helplessly, realizing she was being outmaneuvered by a pickup truck; it would be a laughing stock among her peers if word got out.
In Rosen's rearview mirror, Gisele's Porsche was getting smaller and smaller, while Luke's Nissan Flying Chicken was also getting further and further away.
However, the Nissan S14 suddenly sped up, lurching forward. Luke activated his nitrous oxide boost, and in no time he overtook Giselle on the right.
He was rapidly approaching the rear of Rosen's car, the distance between them shrinking from a dozen meters to seven or eight meters, and then to four or five meters.
Luke gripped the steering wheel, his mouth agape with excitement. His mind was already racing with thoughts of victory and the thrill of having sexy women online to play with that evening.
Rosen glanced at the rapidly approaching car in the rearview mirror, then turned the steering wheel to occupy the left lane, leaving only the right lane open.
Then he reached into the car door storage compartment with his right hand and grabbed a handful of things that had been placed there beforehand.
Luke thought Rosen was going to swerve and block his way, but to his surprise, Rosen actually made way for him. Luke excitedly pressed the nitrous oxide button and slammed his foot on the gas pedal, as if he wanted to stick his foot into the fuel tank.
Rosen looked in the rearview mirror, and when the front of the Nissan Flying Chicken was close to the rear of his car, he stretched his right hand out of the window and threw it onto the side of the road.
The sharp triangular nail flashed briefly in the streetlight's beam before landing on the road and rolling rapidly.
Luke's eyes nearly popped out of their sockets. He slammed on the brakes, but it was too late.
The Nissan Flying Chicken's left front tire had run over the vicious, thick triangular nail. With a loud bang, his left front tire was punctured into a sieve, and the front of the car tilted sharply to the left. Luke instinctively turned the steering wheel sharply to the right.
In an instant, the entire car veered sideways and began to perform a death roll on the road, with shattered plastic parts and glass fragments drawing short arcs in the air before flying towards the sky and the ground.
Giselle watched in disbelief as Luke accelerated with nitrous oxide. Just as she was about to overtake him, her tire suddenly blew out, resulting in a horrific car accident.
Because of her limited field of vision, Giselle was unaware that Rosen was behind it all.
Soon, Rosen's car had crossed the temporary finish line painted in white. He eased off the accelerator and the car gradually slowed down.
Some of the spectators near the finish line were shouting incredulously, whistling, and cursing. Some of them must have seen what Rosen had just done, and it's estimated that quite a few people lost money because he was the first to cross the finish line.
However, this is an unregulated race. You can scatter nails, or even scatter grenades behind your car, and no one will care, as long as you're not afraid of getting into trouble.
A pickup truck won first place in an unregulated race, which is probably the most outrageous thing they've seen all year.
Rosen saw in his rearview mirror that Gisele's Porsche had also crossed the finish line, but she didn't slow down. Instead, she caught up with Rosen. "Come with me, let's get out of here first. Ares just hit a police car, and this place will be surrounded by police cars in a bit."
The two cars drove through the gradually brightening streets of downtown Macallan, turning from the roads between low-rise factories and abandoned industrial areas into a densely lit area.
More and more cars were parked on the roadside, and parking spaces became increasingly tight. Some pedestrians turned around and glanced at the Porsche and the black pickup truck following behind when they heard the engine sound.
Gisele parked her car in front of a luxury apartment building and pulled over to the side of the road, turning off the engine.
The building's exterior walls were made of light beige stone, with a high ceiling on the ground floor. Two white marble pillars stood at the entrance, the glass doors were polished to a shine, and the chandeliers in the lobby were lit, illuminating the dark marble patterns on the floor.
When Rosen got out of the car, Gisele was already standing next to the Porsche, leaning against the car door, with the zipper of her jacket half-down, revealing the neckline of the dark gray tight-fitting vest underneath.
A night breeze blew by, ruffling a few strands of her hair. Giselle watched Rosen approach with a composed expression. The streetlights shone from the side, casting distinct lines of light and shadow on her face, the shadow of her eyelashes drawing a thin arc on her cheekbone.
Rosen sized up her figure. Giselle had a well-proportioned hourglass figure with a narrow waist, and her shoulders and hips were in good proportion. Her long legs were clearly defined in the dark jeans.
He looked into Giselle's eyes, a smile playing on his lips, and said, "I guess I've won?"
Giselle took a half-step forward, closing the distance between them to less than an arm's length. She tilted her head slightly, her gaze moving from his eyes to the corner of his mouth. "Of course, you were the first to cross the finish line."
Giselle suddenly leaned close to Rosen's ear and whispered, "Michael, is that your real name?"
"Of course it's true," Rosen whispered in Giselle's ear, "I also know someone named Lucifer, whose appearance would probably surprise everyone."
Giselle's lips curved slightly, then she took a half-step back to create some distance, tilting her chin slightly. Her gaze swept from Rosen's chest up his jawline, finally settling on his eyes. "Really? You've already surprised me quite a bit."
The night breeze blew in from the end of the street, carrying with it a hint of the woody perfume he had smelled before.
Rosen said, "You surprised me too; it's the first time I've seen a woman drive so well. But didn't you say that after I win, we'd find a place to have a drink? Are we going to just sit on the street?"
Gisele's eyes lingered on his face for a moment, then she lowered her gaze, bit her lower lip, and turned to walk towards the apartment entrance.
Her waist swayed naturally with her steps, and the hem of her coat swayed gently at her waist.
Rosen watched her retreating figure and followed her.
The elevator was lit with warm yellow light, and the mirrored interior reflected the shadows of two people. Giselle pressed the button for the third floor, then leaned against the side wall of the elevator, her hands in her coat pockets, her gaze fixed on the row of floor numbers.
Rosen stood beside her, his eyes fixed unabashedly on this woman with a unique charm. Rosen suddenly noticed that her ears were a little red.
Giselle stopped in front of the door at the end of the corridor, took out her key from her coat pocket, unlocked it, and stepped aside to let others in, tilting her chin slightly.
The apartment was more spacious than Rosen had imagined. The living room was rectangular and deep, with a floor-to-ceiling window on the left that stretched across the entire wall. A semi-transparent curtain was drawn, and the streetlights from across the street shone in, creating a soft, dim light in the room.
