Marriage is long and desires are strong

Chapter 69 Choose what you love, and love what you choose.

Jiang Wei let go of all her strength and sank softly into the large, soft, dark blue sofa, stretching out her limbs at will, her gaze blankly fixed on the ceiling above her head.

A huge crystal chandelier hung above, its translucent facets refracting a dazzling array of iridescent light, the shimmering light flowing around and quietly reflected in her tranquil eyes.

The difficulty in making choices lies in taking responsibility for them.

Too many people talk about pursuing unrestrained freedom, always feeling that constraints are shackles. But when they actually let go of all ties and have complete freedom of choice, they fall into boundless confusion and lose their footing for moving forward.

Humans need stable and unchanging things to anchor themselves and clearly recognize their own existence. Family, home, close friends, and lovers who are together day and night are like coordinates, constantly reminding us where we are and to whom we belong, piecing together a complete and clear self.

Therefore, when drastic changes occur in a family and things are different from what one originally expected, people may begin to doubt themselves and wonder who they are.

Breaking up with my boyfriend was the same. The life I used to be certain about in the future became blurry and foggy, as if a part of me had been taken away with me, leaving me feeling empty inside.

Li Si flashed through Jiang Wei's mind...

She and Li Si used to play together a lot when they were little. They would plant flowers in the backyard and get covered in dirt, splash in puddles when it rained, and even catch a cold together...

She was also very familiar with Li Si's parents. Since they were little, they had always joked that the two of them had a good relationship and wanted her to be their daughter-in-law.

Suddenly one day, Li Si was forbidden from seeing her, and everything disappeared with a "bang" as if by magic.

The dreamy and exquisite pumpkin carriage vanished without a trace, the tender and romantic rainy night was gone, and the grand wedding that had been eagerly anticipated and longed for was also reduced to nothing.

All the beautiful expectations in my heart vanished in an instant, leaving only a desolate sense of loss lingering in my mind.

Li Si's mother specially arranged to meet her in a quaint courtyard teahouse, her voice drifting softly through layers of arched classical windows:

"Weiwei, we like you. But since Li Si enjoys the family's wealth and status, he must also shoulder the family's responsibilities."

"His responsibility is to develop and expand the Li family, and he must not let everything accumulated by his ancestors be squandered in his hands. But he cannot do this alone; he needs a marriage of equal strength to solidify his foundation and support his development."

Jiang Wei understood; she couldn't abandon her self-respect and cling to Li Si...

Her dignity was the only thing she had left, and it couldn't be destroyed.

Jiang Wei took a deep breath; this was the best option.

Fortunately, Qin Xiaoye is a good person. He never cares about her thoughts and is truly a good husband.

The bedroom door was ajar, revealing a soft crack. Qin Xiaoye, dressed in a well-tailored dark blue suit, exuding an air of nobility, quietly pushed the door open and entered.

His gaze fell on Jiang Wei, who was gazing at the crystal chandelier. Jiang Wei had curled up into a small ball, looking soft, cute, and sweet.

The crystal chandelier shimmered and swayed, its warm, soft light spreading down in layers, casting delicate shadows on Jiang Wei's fair cheeks and smooth hair, creating a hazy, soft glow.

As soon as Qin Xiaoye entered the room, he could smell the ripe fruit scent emanating from Jiang Wei. It was sweet and ticklish, making his heart flutter and sending shivers down his spine.

His Adam's apple bobbed as he swallowed the dryness.

Should it be okay today?

The heat emanating from his body slowly circulated and spread across his skin.

He calmly took two steps forward, entering Jiang Wei's line of sight, replacing the crystal chandelier. His shadow fell on Jiang Wei, enveloping her, and he stared at her with a calm gaze.

Jiang Wei blinked, watching as the crystal chandelier transformed into Qin Xiaoye's handsome, dashing, and wildly beautiful face, blocking the cascading silver light and casting a dark shadow.

Qin Xiaoye, with his imposing physique, looked down at Jiang Wei with focused, dark eyes that exuded danger and oppression, causing Jiang Wei to unconsciously feel a tingling sense of fear.

Qin Xiaoye's poor physique made him appear dangerous and unrestrained.

Jiang Wei crumpled her hair into a ball, her eyes glistening with moisture, her eyelashes trembling slightly.

Qin Xiaoye's breathing became heavy, his gaze sweeping over her inch by inch. She was wearing a milky white lace nightgown, loose and transparent, through which a patch of white could be seen.

Jiang Wei has soft, fluffy skin that is snow-white and shiny.

The nightgown only covered her buttocks, revealing glimpses of her long, slender legs, beautiful, smooth calves, and delicate feet with her toenails painted a light pink and glossy.

Jiang Wei was bewildered by his scrutiny, her eyes becoming even more moist, soft, and tingling.

It felt as if it were being watched by a wild beast, ready to bite at any moment.

Qin Xiaoye's voice was slow and deep, like a cool breeze in late spring, gently brushing against the skin: "What are you thinking about?"

He reached out and took the property documents from Jiang Wei's hand. He flipped through them briefly, then paused. "Buying a house?"

He squinted.

Jiang Wei lay on the sofa, her black hair contrasting and intertwining with the dark blue fabric, exuding a soft yet mysterious beauty. She whispered, "I'm thinking about how to make a choice."

"If I make a choice randomly, is it accidental or inevitable?"

Qin Xiaoye tilted his head slightly, leaned over and pulled Jiang Wei into his arms. His hand went along Jiang Wei's arm and down to her wrist, then further forward.

The two men's arms were touching. Qin Xiaoye's arms were bent, his muscles bulging and powerful, and there was a muscular curve beneath his suit that looked ready to spring into action.

Qin Xiaoye extended his palm forward, then gently clenched it, exhaling warm breath into her ear, the breath tickling and tingling as it went straight to Jiang Wei's ear.

"You see, in the long river of time, each of us has so many things to choose from, but at any given time we can only make one choice."

"What is accidental is inevitable. What is inevitable is accidental."

"Among infinite possibilities, we chose only one, turning that illusory possibility into our reality. We pulled that possibility from the void into our real lives."

He whispered softly in Jiang Wei's ear, his words gentle and slow, like spring rain pouring into her eardrums, and like an electric current rushing straight to the depths of her heart:

"Choice is to choose what I love and to love what I choose."

Jiang Wei's heart skipped a beat, then began to pound violently again, "thump, thump"... a tingling, electric current coursing through her.
