5:30.

Chen Dapeng finished organizing the last few pages of materials.

I left the office in a hurry.

I glanced at Zhou Haibo's workstation out of the corner of my eye as I passed by—

Zhou Haibo was still looking at the computer. The light from the screen reflected on his face, making his expression unreadable, and he seemed no different from usual.

Chen Dapeng didn't linger; he went downstairs and walked out of the courtyard.

He walked briskly along the sidewalk for about ten minutes, then turned into an alley. From afar, he saw He Ying standing in front of a noodle shop, wearing a light-colored coat and holding a mobile phone, as if she was looking at something.

He quickened his pace and walked over.

He Ying looked up when she heard footsteps. Seeing him approaching, she put her phone in her pocket and smiled slightly.

"get off work?"

"Um."

Chen Dapeng stopped in front of her and smiled.

"Have you been waiting long?"

"I just arrived a little while ago."

He Ying's gaze lingered on his face for a moment, then naturally shifted away, turning to point at the noodle shop's sign:

"I ate here last time, and the food was pretty good. You haven't tried it yet, have you?"

"No. The one you recommend should be pretty good."

The two people pushed open the door and went in. Menus were posted on the wall, and steam was coming out of the kitchen window.

He Ying chose a seat against the wall, and without looking at the menu, directly ordered two noodle dishes—

She remembered which two dishes she had tried last time and found to be to her liking.

Sitting opposite her, watching her recite the menu, Chen Dapeng suddenly felt that the scene was very familiar—

He remembered that she had done the same thing when ordering food before, without looking at the menu, just stating the names in a casual tone, as if she were at home.

The soup was still steaming when the noodles were served.

He Ying lowered her head, took a sip of soup, and then looked up at him:

"Has Director Hu arranged for someone to liaise with Gu Xinming?"

"It's arranged." Chen Dapeng picked up his chopsticks. "Tell me as soon as possible."

He Ying nodded and didn't ask any more questions.

She picked up a mouthful of noodles and ate it slowly, as if she were savoring the flavor of the broth, or perhaps she was thinking about something else.

After a while, she put down her chopsticks, picked up her cup, and took a sip of water.

"Dapeng, how much longer do you think this case will take?"

Chen Dapeng paused for a moment while holding the chopsticks.

He thought for a moment before speaking:

"It's hard to say. We've just made some progress on Sun Desheng's trail, but we're still missing direct evidence on Zhao Zhengping's side. If we can get Gu Xinming's testimony, we might be able to take a big step forward. But if things get stuck again, it's hard to say."

He Ying did not respond.

She lowered her head and took a sip of soup, as if digesting what she had just said.

After a while, she put down the bowl and changed her tone:

"Let's not talk about the case. Have you been eating properly lately?"

Chen Dapeng paused for a moment, then laughed:

"Yes. After you mentioned it last time, I tried my best to eat on time."

He Ying glanced at him:

"Yeah?"

"real."

She didn't ask any further questions, and the corners of her mouth curved slightly.

After finishing their noodles, the two left the noodle shop.

He Ying put her hands into her coat pockets, and Chen Dapeng walked beside her, his arm naturally brushing against hers.

We walked for a while.

He turned his head and asked in a low voice:

Are you cold?

"fine."

He Ying smiled.

Chen Dapeng reached out and grasped her hand, which was tucked into her pocket.

Her fingers were a little cold, but he didn't let go, instead holding them and putting them in his coat pocket.

He Ying naturally moved closer to him.

The two of them walked slowly side by side along the sidewalk.

It was almost nine o'clock when I got back to my apartment building.

Chen Dapeng released her hand, took out his keys, and opened the door.

The two went upstairs one after the other and entered the house.

He Ying changed into slippers and sat down on the sofa.

Chen Dapeng poured two glasses of warm water, placing one in front of her and holding the other himself as he sat down next to her.

He Ying picked up the cup, took a sip, then put it down and turned to look at him.

My gaze lingered on his face for a moment.

Chen Dapeng was also looking at her.

Their eyes met, and the room fell silent.

He looked at her for a few seconds, then reached out and gently tucked the stray hairs behind her ear.

He Ying did not dodge.

She tilted her head slightly, as if in response to the gesture, then leaned forward, resting her forehead on his shoulder.

Chen Dapeng's hand slid down from her ear to her shoulder, and gently wrapped around her.

He Ying raised her head and turned her face to look at him.

The two were very close and could clearly smell each other's scent.

Chen Dapeng didn't say anything, but lowered his head and kissed her lips.

The moment their skin touched, Chen Dapeng felt a tremor in his heart, and his hands even started to shake with excitement.

He loved kissing He Ying and enjoyed the feeling of intimacy.

Her body was very supple, exuding an aura that captivated him.

He relaxed and kissed her passionately...

He Ying placed her hand on his arm, her fingers slowly tightening.

This kiss felt like a wait, and also like a tacit confirmation of understanding.

Chen Dapeng pulled her closer to him, making them stick together even tighter.

With his other hand, he gently supported the back of her head and kissed her even deeper.

He Ying responded to the kiss, following his rhythm...

I don't know how much time passed.

Chen Dapeng first released her, stepped back slightly, pressed his forehead against hers, and chuckled softly:

"Sister Ying, I really like you."

He Ying didn't speak, but reached out and pinched his earlobe:

"Okay."

Chen Dapeng picked her up in one go.

He Ying gasped softly and wrapped her arms around his neck.

We entered the bedroom.

Chen Dapeng gently placed her on the bed, then leaned down, supporting himself with his hands on either side, and looked intently at her.

He Ying chuckled: "Still looking?"

Chen Dapeng hummed in agreement: "I want to watch, I like watching, I can't get enough of watching."

He Ying glared at him and gently pinched his cheek with her fingers.

"One day, you'll get tired of it."

Chen Dapeng quickly replied, "No, Sister Ying, I won't get tired of looking at it, I promise for a lifetime."

He Ying felt a warmth in her heart, but didn't ask, "Are you telling the truth?"

He didn't even ask, "Were you just trying to make me happy?"

She just looked at him with deep affection.

Chen Dapeng understood immediately and lowered his head to kiss her lips.

The kiss started off very lightly and slowly.

Following her lips, I slid down to her jawline, and then to the side of her neck.

Then, he moved back and kissed her lips again.

Back and forth...

He Ying's breathing quickened a bit, and her fingers touched his collar, clenched it briefly, and then released it.

One, two, three...

The buttons slowly came undone, and the clothes were removed one by one...

Next, like a gentle spring breeze and nourishing rain—

heavy rain--

Gale and torrential rain—

The two floated up to the clouds again and again...

After an unknown amount of time, the room finally quieted down.

He Ying curled up in his arms, her breathing still not steady.

Chen Dapeng held her tightly, unwilling to let go.

He enjoyed the feeling of He Ying lying in his arms and wished time could stand still.

After a long silence, Chen Dapeng finally spoke:

"Sister Ying, once this case is over, let's enjoy some time without being disturbed."

He Ying mumbled, "Mmm."

Chen Dapeng didn't say anything more, rested his chin on her head, and quietly closed his eyes.

The room became completely quiet.

Only the sound of their even breathing could be heard...

……

He Ying woke up first the next morning.

Chen Dapeng was still asleep, his arm still draped over her waist.

She turned her head to look at him for a while, but didn't wake him. She then quietly got out of bed.

I went into the bathroom and turned on the shower.

Let the warm water flow over every inch of your skin.

All the fatigue from the night vanished instantly.

After showering, she wrapped herself in a towel, stood in front of the mirror, and looked at herself.

Her skin was rosy and had a faint glow.

She chuckled softly and muttered to herself:

"Could it be the nourishment of love?"
