"Night" bar in the school district of the provincial capital.

At 11 p.m., the bar is at its liveliest.

The lights were dim, the music was deafening, and the dance floor was packed with people.

Bai Jiangfei sat in a booth with several bottles of foreign liquor in front of him.

He had drunk quite a bit today; his cheeks were flushed, and two buttons of his shirt collar were undone. Two young women were sitting next to him.

He poured himself another glass of wine, tilted his head back and gulped it down, then stood up and walked toward the restroom.

As he walked through the corridor, he bumped into someone.

The beer in the other person's hand spilled out and splashed onto Bai Jiangfei's shirt.

Bai Jiangfei pushed it over:

"Can't you even watch where you're going?"

The other person staggered a couple of steps after being pushed, and the bottle fell to the ground, shards flying everywhere.

Several young people stood up and gathered around.

Someone shoved Bai Jiangfei, and Bai Jiangfei swung his fist and punched them.

The two sides started fighting, and the sounds of shattering bottles, cursing, and screaming mingled together.

Someone called the police.

Ten minutes later, two police cars stopped in front of "Nightfall".

Four police officers quickly entered the bar, pushed through the crowd, and found Bai Jiangfei fighting with someone in the aisle behind the bar.

"Don't move! Put your hands up!"

Two police officers stepped forward and grabbed Bai Jiangfei's shoulders.

Bai Jiangfei was still struggling, turning his head to see who was pressing him down.

A policeman pinned him against the wall: "Behave yourself!"

Bai Jiangfei was being held down, but he was still shouting:

"Do you know who I am? My uncle is Secretary Yang! Secretary Yang of the Provincial Political and Legal Affairs Commission! You dare to touch me?"

The two police officers exchanged a glance, but neither of them said anything.

One of the police officers took out his walkie-talkie, said a few words, and then turned to Bai Jiangfei: "Take him away."

Bai Jiangfei was led out of the bar, where two police cars were parked.

He was shoved into the back seat, the car door was closed, and a few young people watching outside were talking about it, but no one stepped forward to stop him.

The police car drove away from the bar and merged into the traffic on the main road.

Bai Jiangfei leaned back in his seat, still feeling the effects of the alcohol, and muttered to himself:

"You just wait..."

"Once we get to the police station, I'll make a phone call, and you'll know who you've messed with."

The police car didn't go to the Xuecheng District branch, but instead turned around and drove in another direction.

Bai Jiangfei glanced out the window and realized the road was wrong: "Where are you all going?"

No one answered him.

The police car stopped in the compound of the Provincial Public Security Bureau. He was taken out of the car, walked through a corridor, and entered an interrogation room.

Bai Jiangfei went inside and saw two people sitting there—

One was a police officer in uniform, and the other was sitting next to him in plainclothes, flipping through a notebook.

"Please sit down."

Zhao Guoqiang pointed to the chair opposite him, then glanced at Hu Yuheng and Chen Dapeng sitting next to him.

"Director Hu, you can sit over there."

Hu Yuheng nodded and sat down in a spot against the wall.

Chen Dapeng sat next to her, holding a notebook in his hand and placing a voice recorder on the table.

"Name."

"Bai Jiangfei".

"age."

"Twenty-two."

"Do you know why I brought you here?"

Bai Jiangfei leaned back in his chair, his tone impatient:

"I was drinking at a bar when someone bumped into me. I shoved him, and then a fight broke out. Instead of arresting the person who bumped into me, you brought me here?"

Zhao Guoqiang looked at him and said, "This isn't the first time you've caused trouble at a bar."

There was another incident last month in the Xuecheng District, where the police released you.

The reason I brought you here today is because you've accumulated quite a bit of trouble over the past few months.

Bai Jiangfei chuckled: "So what? I can just make a phone call and get out."

Zhao Guoqiang did not respond.

Seeing that he didn't speak, Bai Jiangfei assumed he was scared.

"My uncle is Yang Xiujiang, the secretary of the Provincial Political and Legal Affairs Commission. You'd better think carefully before you arrest me."

The room was silent for a few seconds.

Hu Yuheng, who hadn't spoken until now, leaned forward slightly:

"Is your uncle Yang Xiujiang?"

Bai Jiangfei turned to look at her: "Who are you?"

Hu Yuheng did not answer his question, but said calmly, "He's in dire straits himself right now, so he probably can't take care of you."

Bai Jiangfei's expression changed: "What do you mean?"

"The people from the Provincial Commission for Discipline Inspection and the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection are all in the provincial capital. Your uncle is currently embroiled in trouble himself. Are you sure he can come and bail you out?"

Bai Jiangfei remained silent, staring at Hu Yuheng as if trying to determine whether what she said was true or false.

A few seconds passed.

"Who exactly are you?"

"Special task force."

Bai Jiangfei's fingers paused on the table for a moment, and for the first time, he remained silent.

After a moment of silence, he lowered his head, his voice much softer than before:

"Are you really part of a special task force?"

Hu Yuheng smiled faintly: "Of course."

Bai Jiangfei fell silent.

No matter how arrogant and domineering he usually was, he knew what the task force meant.

Finally, he spoke.

"What do you want me to say?"

Chen Dapeng opened his notebook and began to take notes.

Hu Yuheng's tone turned serious: "Tell me everything you know, the more detailed the better!"

Bai Jiangfei remained silent for a moment, seemingly organizing his thoughts.

"Some of the money in my bank cards was deposited by someone else. I don't know exactly who it was from, but it came from a company in Beijing."

Which company?

"Huarong Investment".

How did you contact them?

"No need to contact them. They transfer money at a fixed time every month, sometimes a lot, sometimes a little. Sometimes it's 70,000 or 80,000, sometimes it's 20,000 or 30,000."

Did you sign any agreement with them?

"No, I don't know any of them at all."

Zhao Guoqiang glanced at Hu Yuheng, who nodded slightly.

Does your uncle know about this?

Bai Jiangfei paused for a moment: "He never asked where my money came from, but he should know. I once saw a document in his study with the words 'Huarong Investment' written on it."

Chen Dapeng paused for a moment, then wrote down in his notebook:

Bai Jiangfei saw Huarong Investment documents in Yang Xiujiang's study.

Hu Yuheng asked again, "When did you see that document?"

Bai Jiangfei thought for a moment: "About half a year ago."

After the interrogation, Bai Jiangfei was taken away.

After returning to the Provincial Commission for Discipline Inspection.

Chen Dapeng compiled the records into a complete document and delivered it to Hu Yuheng's office.

Hu Yuheng opened it, read it once, signed it, and then delivered it to Chen Yuanda's desk.

Chen Yuanda turned to the last page and closed the folder:

"With this testimony, there is concrete evidence to prove Yang Xiujiang's economic problems."

He paused for a moment: "Bai Jiangfei's testimony can corroborate Lin Meijuan's account—"

The money from the beauty salon flowed to Hongye Investment, whose financial chain overlapped with that of Huarong Investment.

Yang Xiujiang left traces on both of these lines.

Hu Yuheng asked, "When will we take action against Yang Xiujiang?"

Chen Yuanda did not answer immediately: "Once the financial chain in Beijing is verified, we will close in on both lines simultaneously."

Hu Yuheng nodded: "Understood."

When she walked out of Chen Yuanda's office, Chen Dapeng was waiting for her in the corridor.

"What did Director Chen say?"

"Wait for the verification results from Beijing. Close the net on both fronts simultaneously."
