The Overlord Flower's Guide to Intercepting a Woman's Wife's Death and the Male Lead&
In Chapter 61, Su Xingmian asked, "Did the other side send me to do greening work?"
Three men in military uniforms got out of the jeep.
The middle-aged man with a crew cut had dark skin and a strong jawline. He didn't wear his military unit number on his chest, only a red badge.
People from the Political Department.
Half an hour later, a communications officer from the division headquarters came to the political commissar's house.
"Comrade Su Xingmian, the division headquarters requests your presence."
She nodded to Zhou Bingheng after they had exchanged their stories, and then followed him away steadily.
The door to the division headquarters office was tightly closed.
The man with the crew cut, surnamed Yue, was a section chief from the Political Department.
He took the materials out of the manila envelope and spread them out on the table, page by page.
"Su Xingmian, take a look at these."
The first document is a record of moving out of the place of origin, with the parents' section blank.
The second document is a copy of the whistleblower's report from Pingxi Village in 1970.
The label reads: "Strange behavior: not sweating in the summer sun, cold hands and feet in winter, and abnormally low body temperature."
The third document is an appeal letter from Wang Daqiang's family.
The plaintiff sued Su Xingmian for using unknown methods to cause paralysis.
Section Chief Yue leaned back in his chair, two fingers pressing down on the first document.
"The parents section is blank, your adoptive grandmother is deceased, and you have no other relatives. Comrade Su Xingmian, in the organization's eyes, your background is a blank slate."
"Whether a blank sheet of paper is good or not depends on what's written on it."
Su Xingmian responded to this question at a moderate pace.
"My parents are unknown, that's a fact. My grandmother adopted me when I was thirteen, and people from all around watched me grow up. Pingxi Village isn't big, but living people are always more useful than dead records."
Section Chief Yue didn't respond to her words, and moved his finger to the second document.
"Regarding your temperature, we also found it in Political Commissar Zhou's reporting records. Your medical examination data upon arrival showed a temperature of 34 degrees Celsius."
He raised his head.
"If this data were presented to any hospital, the doctor's first reaction would be to provide emergency care. How do you explain that?"
"Congenitally cold constitution".
Su Xingmian spoke calmly.
"In traditional Chinese medicine, it's called 'cold uterus and weak constitution.' I've been taking acupuncture and medicinal diets with my grandmother since I was a child, so my constitution is already there, making it difficult for me to reach a normal body temperature."
She stretched out her wrist and placed it on the table.
"But Grandma said that after getting married, the body's yang energy will balance things out, and I can recover slowly. My temperature has now risen to 35.5 degrees Celsius. If you don't believe me, Section Chief, you can take it right here."
Section Chief Yue did not take her wrist.
He tapped his pen twice on the notebook and then changed the subject.
"You said your grandmother taught you acupuncture?"
"Su's acupuncture is a family tradition."
"Do you have a medical license?"
"I don't know. But people from all around come to her when they have a headache or fever."
Section Chief Yue suddenly pushed the third document in front of her.
Tell me about Wang Daqiang's paralysis.
"Wang Daqiang is a good-for-nothing."
Su Xingmian didn't touch the paper.
"He tampered with me, even going so far as to falsely accuse me of being a spy, and the whole village knew about it. When he became paralyzed, I had already boarded the train to Beijing."
"I reminded him back in the village that he had a hidden illness and that it could easily lead to serious problems if he didn't take care of it."
She paused for a moment, then presented the facts.
"The commune must have investigated at the time, and the conclusion was that the lower limb paralysis was caused by a cerebrovascular accident."
"The investigation report should have a copy in the county archives. Has Section Chief Yue checked it?"
Section Chief Yue paused for a moment.
"It seems you have absolute confidence in your medical skills."
After saying that, he pulled out another piece of paper from the bottom of the file folder.
"Page 17 of the espionage case file. In the stone chamber of the Danxia ravine stronghold, the copper contacts of the radio were corroded and rendered unusable by the acidic substances from the plants."
He turned the paper over.
"There were only you and He Yaozu in the stone chamber. During the interrogation, He Yaozu himself confessed that when he discovered the contact corrosion, you were the only person around him who had touched the equipment area in the inner room. You also admitted that you destroyed the radio and that you wrote down the complete code and some intelligence."
Su Xingmian didn't move.
This problem is more serious than the previous three combined.
Her mind raced.
The old fox said that her name was not on the file.
The file that Section Chief Yue obtained was either the original of He Yaozu's interrogation transcript, or it was specially retrieved by someone.
Regardless of the reason, the real purpose of sitting here today is not to interrogate her, but to test her capabilities.
"I'm sorry, I don't remember the stone chamber part very clearly."
Su Xingmian's voice became somewhat hoarse.
"When I was rescued, I had a high fever and was in a coma. I could only remember the information at my limit. I can't remember what happened in the stone chamber."
She lowered her head.
"I only remember being terrified. Then...then my husband came."
Section Chief Yue stared at her for five seconds.
Then he put the paper back into the file folder.
"One last question."
He glanced at the appeal letter from Wang Daqiang's family.
"The letter mentions the term 'special personnel,' implying that you might be a person with special abilities sent from the other side of the strait."
The words "opposite side" and "special personnel" seemed to chill the air in the room.
The recorder's pen stopped.
Su Xingmian glanced down at the letter.
The handwriting is rough and the word choice is clumsy.
She didn't rush to defend herself.
"Section Chief Yue, what if I were from the other side of the strait?"
She looked up and stared directly at him.
"Why would I risk my life to save someone from a human trafficker's cellar?"
"Why use acupuncture to deliver a baby for a military wife in difficult labor at the medical unit, saving two lives?"
Her words grew increasingly somber.
"And why did you have to squat in the saline-alkali soil of the Gobi Desert, teaching the women how to grow wild onions and spinach that could survive the winter?"
She leaned back.
"I've been at the garrison for a month. What I've done in this month, the women in the family compound have seen it all, and the soldiers have appreciated it all."
She spoke her last sentence very slowly.
"What did the other side send me here for? To do greening projects?"
The recorder's pen left a long mark on the paper.
Section Chief Yue remained silent for a long time before closing his notebook.
……
After the questioning ended, Su Xingmian was placed in a room at the guesthouse.
The door wasn't locked, but a guard with an arm stood at the entrance.
It's nominally called protective waiting.
Su Xingmian sat on the hard bed, took off her shoes, and put the soles of her feet on the ground.
The demonic power spread silently along the underground root system, reaching the camp office a kilometer away.
Zhou Bingheng sat at his desk, writing a report with a fountain pen in his hand.
Heart rate: 85 beats per minute.
It was fifteen times faster than usual.
He was enduring it.
Su Xingmian withdrew her demonic power, sat cross-legged on the bed, and pinched her fingertips.
The fact that the old fox didn't make a move indicates that the situation is still under his control.
