The Overlord Flower's Guide to Intercepting a Woman's Wife's Death and the Male Lead&
Chapter 22 Using vegetation to draw arrows for the old fox
The moment the sunlight penetrated her skin, Su Xingmian almost lost her balance.
Every dormant root in the body is awakening, and the demonic power in every meridian begins to flow faster.
My fingers are itchy and restless.
She almost couldn't help but smile for a moment.
My fingertips itch, and my roots stir deep within my soul.
He Yaozu caught that moment out of the corner of his eye.
He paused for a moment, then continued walking.
Su Xingmian noticed it.
We can't do that again, it's too dangerous.
He Yaozu walked towards the two thugs standing on the hilltop, turned his back to her, and whispered instructions.
He raised his arm, traced his fingers across a ditch in the southwest corner, and then pointed to the north.
Su Xingmian glanced at his back.
He bent over and squatted down, supporting himself on his knee with his left hand, and took off his left cloth shoe with his right hand.
"It hurts my foot."
She muttered something and used her fingers to rummage through her shoes for pebbles that weren't actually there.
Stepping barefoot onto the ground.
Demonic power poured out from the soles of his feet and seeped into the soil.
She was startled.
After her demonic power increased, she succeeded.
The demonic power spread rapidly outwards along the underground roots, illuminating all the vegetation within a two-kilometer radius.
Camel thorn, sand wormwood, red willow, and reed.
Scattered roots beneath the surface intertwine to form a vast network.
She connected them all, turning them into a complete underground map.
Her senses followed the direction He Yaozu was gesturing to the thugs.
southwest.
There is a clump of camel thorns every fifty meters or so.
Su Xingmian's demonic power traveled along the roots to each clump, causing the branches to shift uniformly to the north by three to five degrees.
Not many, just within the tilt range caused by natural sunlight and the prevailing wind direction.
You can't tell from just one clump.
The two clumps are not visible.
For two kilometers in a row, there was a clump every fifty meters, and they were all tilted in the same direction at the same angle.
For an ordinary person walking by, all they would think is how strong the wind is in this Gobi Desert.
But the old fox is no ordinary person.
He had been stationed at the foot of Helan Mountain for many years and knew the growth patterns of Gobi vegetation by heart.
He must have noticed this unusual neatness.
He Xiu is too cautious; using ordinary methods would easily expose him.
She could only resort to this method, which only the Queen of the Night could do.
Just as she was about to withdraw her demonic power, the information transmitted back from her roots made her pause.
It is about one and a half kilometers to the southeast.
The roots of a large area of plants were repeatedly crushed, the soil became severely compacted, and some roots were directly broken off, with scabs forming at the cut surfaces. The crushing continued for at least a week.
A mule cart cannot leave such marks.
Something heavier.
Su Xingmian buried this information deep in her memory.
The demonic energy was reclaimed, and the cloth shoes were put back on in no more than ten seconds.
When He Yaozu turned around and walked back, all he saw was a girl standing under the bright sun with her hair disheveled by the wind.
She squatted on the ground, drawing something in the sand with her fingers.
He Yaozu took two steps closer and looked down.
Five crooked petals emerged from the sand, forming a rough outline. The stamen in the middle was drawn most carefully, with several dots.
"What kind of flower is this?"
"The Queen of Flowers"
Su Xingmian raised her head, a grain of sand touching the tip of her nose.
"It's a huge one that my grandma grows in her yard, bigger than my face."
She lowered her head and traced the edge of the petal with her finger again.
"Grandma is gone, and no one takes care of the flowers anymore."
The sound faded away, and was dispersed by the wind.
He Yaozu stood there and looked at her for a few seconds.
He thought of his mother.
Women from small landlord families also grow flowers in their courtyards, planting and tending them all by themselves.
He left and never went back.
He raised his hand, paused in mid-air for two seconds, and then lowered it.
"Let's go, it's windy outside."
Su Xingmian stood up, patted the dirt off her knees, and followed him into the stone chamber.
Its steps were very nimble.
In his mind, however, he was calculating that the stomp he had just made had restored nearly 40% of his demonic power.
If you can come out to sunbathe once a day, you'll have more than enough time to last until the old fox arrives.
Today is the first day, there are two days left.
Back in the stone chamber, He Yaozu poured a cup of hot water and placed it beside her.
Su Xingmian held the cup in both hands, her fingertips turning blood red from the heat.
Her body temperature has always been low, so the way she held the cup to warm her hands was so natural that she didn't need to act at all.
He Yaozu sat back in his seat and opened the Soviet magazine.
This time, the page-turning speed was uneven; he was genuinely reading.
"What else did your grandma teach you to read?"
Su Xingmian covered the cup, tilted her head and thought for a moment.
"He even taught me acupuncture."
He Yaozu paused for a moment as he turned the page.
"Acupuncture?"
"Yes, it's about using a thin needle to prick your body to relieve pain."
She held her hands very close together.
"My grandma used to treat people in the village, and I would watch her. I remembered what she did after watching her so many times."
He quickly shut up halfway through his sentence, as if he had said too much.
He Yaozu did not ask further questions.
But he noticed that Su Xingmian's hand lingered for two more seconds.
Fair, smooth fingers, clean nails, without a single callus.
A country girl's hands shouldn't look like that.
Unless the elderly in the family are extremely precious and you don't want them to do any chores.
Her grandmother is a doctor, so it makes sense that she cherishes these hands.
The faint scent of herbs emanating from him is understandable given his long-term exposure to medicinal herbs.
He turned a page of the magazine, his finger pausing briefly at the foot of the page.
"Are you good at pricking?"
Su Xingmian blinked.
"I treated Uncle San's back pain in the village. He had been in pain for half a year. I treated him with acupuncture three times, and he was able to get out of bed and work again afterward."
She counted on her fingers, one after another, all of them trivial ailments and minor pains.
As He Yaozu listened, his right hand unconsciously touched his temple.
Su Xingmian saw this action but remained silent.
About fifteen minutes later, He Yaozu rubbed his temples for the second time.
"Mr. He, do you have a headache?"
He lowered his hand from his forehead and glanced at her.
"It's an old problem, nothing serious."
Su Xingmian did not ask any further questions.
She lowered her head to drink water, sat quietly for a while, then picked up the needle pouch, gestured a couple of times in her hand, and then put it away.
He Yaozu glanced over out of the corner of his eye.
She pretended not to notice and put the needle pouch back into her sleeve.
Three seconds later, He Yaozu spoke.
"Can your needle cure headaches?"
Su Xingmian looked up cautiously.
"I don't know if it will work... but my grandmother treated similar cases before."
She paused, then quickly added a sentence.
"If you're worried, that's fine. My skills aren't great; what if I prick the wrong spot..."
"Give it a try."
Su Xingmian got up and went around to his back.
The movements were slow, each step deliberate and measured.
In fact, she was quickly assessing the flow of Qi and blood in He Yaozu's head.
Migraines, chronic, recurrent, stress-induced.
Two acupoints are enough.
The first silver needle was inserted very shallowly into the Shuaigu acupoint.
He Yaozu's shoulders tensed for a moment, then quickly relaxed.
A warm sensation seeped into the needle tip, gradually pushing the throbbing pain outwards.
The second needle was inserted into the Fengchi acupoint.
He Yaozu closed his eyes.
He couldn't remember the last time his head didn't hurt.
I spent countless nights rushing to finish the drawings, and for countless days the nerve in my temple was taut. Now it's all relaxed.
Even the ringing in my ears that had been going on for almost a month is gone.
"alright."
Su Xingmian put away the needles, stepped back to sit down, and continued to warm her hands with the cup.
He Yaozu took a closer look at the girl in front of him.
An orphan girl with an exceptionally beautiful face, who could read a few words, was skilled at acupuncture, and was obedient, quiet, and didn't cause any trouble.
Having her along is a great help on the road.
"I'll go out for a walk tomorrow."
Su Xingmian looked up, revealing an expression of surprise and delight.
"Thank you, Mr. He!"
He Yaozu took the enamel mug and went out.
Outside the stone gate, he turned his head and whispered something to the lean man guarding the door.
"Keep an eye on this girl."
The lean man nodded, then took another half step forward, lowering his voice to a whisper.
"Sir, another unplanned hideout outside has been raided. It looks like it's the regular army that's infiltrated, not local militia."
He Yaozu paused for a moment in the shadows.
Inside the room, Su Xingmian stopped holding the cup.
"understood."
He Yaozu's voice was as dry as sand in the Gobi Desert.
"Make sure everyone below is on high alert. We're leaving the day after tomorrow; we can't delay any longer."
The footsteps have faded into the distance.
Su Xingmian put down her cup.
the day after tomorrow.
The original plan was for three days, but now it's been reduced to two days.
What could put pressure on this top spy was definitely not some local militia.
He's an old fox.
He had already closed in on the perimeter, which is why He Xiu was in such a hurry to run.
Su Xingmian's heart skipped a beat.
She couldn't just wait around.
While the old fox attacks from the outside, she can provide support from within.
If He Xiu's connections with foreign countries can be severed, he will become a blind eagle, unable to grasp the wind or find his nest.
A kite with a broken string.
She needed to buy the old fox the most crucial time.
Her performance today has dispelled most of He Xiu's doubts; she has a chance.
