Death Train: SSS-level talent right from the start!

Chapter 307 [The Capital of Sin] The Enraged General

About ten minutes later, Chen Ye and his two companions arrived at the castle where the Wrath Trial was taking place.

The castle's exterior was not much different from other buildings in the city, with thick walls made of gray stone bricks and a sword-shaped mark floating above the pointed tower.

The castle gates were open, and a line of numbers was clearly visible on the gray-white stone surface of the stone wall above the gate.

[4/10]

Qin Zhaoyang's gaze lingered on the line of numbers for a moment, then he turned to Chen Ye: "Four have already gone in. I don't know if they were on our train or the train across the street."

"You'll know once you go in and take a look."

Chen Ye withdrew his gaze and stepped through the open door.

Zhao Hai and Qin Zhaoyang quickly followed.

The moment the three of them stepped across the threshold, their perspective suddenly changed.

The gray daylight outside disappeared, replaced by a uniform, cool white light that poured down from the dome overhead, illuminating the entire hall and making it bright and spacious.

The hall was much larger than it appeared from the outside. The floor was paved with gray stone bricks, and the walls were made of the same gray-white stone. There were no extra decorations on the surface, except for a pale blue light curtain that floated in mid-air directly in front of it.

A line of text was displayed on the screen.

【7/10】

Qin Zhaoyang looked back at the way he came. The open wooden door he had entered through had disappeared, replaced by a semi-transparent light door with a faint halo around its edges. He could no longer see the outside world.

Four people were standing in the center of the hall, slightly to the left.

Three men and one woman, all between their twenties and early thirties.

The four people were talking in hushed tones when they saw Chen Ye and his two companions enter. The conversation stopped the moment they saw them enter, and all four pairs of eyes turned to them.

Zhao Hai did not stop walking. He and Chen Ye maintained their original pace and walked into the center of the hall, stopping about ten meters away from the four people.

His gaze swept quickly across the faces of the four people opposite him, then he lowered his voice and said to Chen Ye, "They're not from our train. These four are all unfamiliar faces."

Qin Zhaoyang turned around and glanced at the entrance behind him, which had turned into a door of light: "Brother Ye, this place is completely different from the outside. The castle outside is just an empty shell."

"It should be an independent space." Chen Ye's gaze shifted from the portal to the light screen above the hall displaying the number of people. "It seems this trial will have to wait for ten people before it can begin."

As he spoke, his gaze met that of the leader of the four people opposite him.

The man was about thirty years old, wearing a dark blue windbreaker, and holding a short, jet-black stick in his hand, about 1.2 meters long, with one end slightly thicker, resembling some kind of blunt weapon.

His gaze lingered on Chen Ye's face for two seconds before he looked away, turned his head, and whispered something to his female companion beside him.

Qin Zhaoyang brought up the system chat panel and quickly swiped his finger across the screen.

Then he looked up, his brows furrowing slightly: "Brother Ye, we can't send a message. The system chat is blocked here. I was thinking of calling three more people to make up the group."

"That's normal. It's also normal that it can't be sent out from the trial space. Just wait for everyone to arrive. There's no rush."

As soon as Chen Ye finished speaking, the light gate behind him rippled again.

Three figures stepped in one after another.

The man walking at the front was about thirty-five years old, wearing a black tight-fitting short-sleeved shirt that revealed his two strong forearms.

He was followed by two male teammates.

The man in the black short-sleeved shirt scanned the entire hall the moment he entered.

Then he saw the leader of the four people opposite him and gave a faint smile: "Guo Yang, you're here too."

The man in the windbreaker named Guo Yang took half a step forward and said, "Zhang Zhen, you've come at the right time. There are exactly ten of you now, so the trial should be about to begin."

Standing next to Chen Ye, Qin Zhaoyang heard the two sentences and lowered his voice: "Brother Ye, they're in cahoots."

Zhao Hai frowned slightly: "We're not blind or deaf, we know without you telling us. We just hope the trial isn't a confrontation, to avoid trouble."

Chen Ye remained silent. His gaze swept over the seven people opposite him, then he took out the Dragon Scale Halberd from his storage space and held it in his hand.

Zhao Hai also put the Green Steel Tiger Finger on his hand.

Just as the man in the black short-sleeved shirt led his men over to Guo Yang, the number on the light blue screen above the hall silently changed from [7/10] to [10/10].

Immediately afterward, a new line of text appeared above the number.

[Trial of Fury: Completion Condition - Defeat the Fury Warrior.]

As the trial began, the portal of light behind Chen Ye disappeared.

Meanwhile, on the ground directly in front of the hall, a silvery-white outline was slowly condensing in the air.

The outlines shifted from vague to clear, one, two, three, layer upon layer of metal components appearing, splicing, and fitting together in the air, emitting a soft metallic clanging sound.

In less than ten seconds, a humanoid figure clad in full-body silver armor stood in the center of the hall.

The armor was thick and hard, with broad, blade-like shoulder armor. It was estimated to be nearly 2.5 meters tall, and the entire body was completely covered from head to toe.

Its right hand gripped a broad greatsword, about two meters long, with a dark luster on its blade.

The armored monster's mask had only one extremely narrow horizontal slit. Deep within that slit, two scarlet lights shone from the mask, like two flames compressed to their extreme dancing in the metal gap.

Qin Zhaoyang drew his bowstring taut instantly, aiming the arrow at the armored monster: "This thing... doesn't look like it's going to be messed with."

"It's just a trial to fight monsters, so it shouldn't be a big problem."

Before Chen Ye could finish speaking, the armored monster had already moved.

Its right foot stomped forward suddenly, and the dark gray stone bricks under its feet shattered into several pieces, with the fragments flying in all directions.

It gripped the hilt of the greatsword with both hands, raised it from its sides to above its head, and then brought it down with a mighty slash.

A crescent-shaped crimson sword aura detached from the blade and hurtled rapidly toward Chen Ye and his companions, skimming along the ground.

Wherever the sword energy passed, a charred mark was left on the gray-black stone brick floor, with wisps of smoke still rising from the edge.

Zhao Hai reacted quickly.

His arms were metallicized just before the sword energy arrived, a silvery-white light spreading from his fingertips to his elbows. He crossed his arms in front of his chest, leaned forward slightly, and met the sword energy head-on.

"Bang--!"

A dull, loud bang echoed through the hall.

The sword energy struck Zhao Hai's metallized arms, and a crimson shockwave spread outwards.

Zhao Hai's body slid back more than ten steps under the impact, his feet carving two fine cracks in the stone brick ground before he finally regained his balance.
