Chapter 129 [Mirror City] Obtaining the Mark

Jiang Ning had already riddled the spear-wielding guard with arrows, and every gap in his armor was filled with them, with silvery liquid seeping from every wound.

The mirror guard's speed had slowed considerably; he staggered and swayed, but he hadn't fallen yet.

Jiang Ning continued firing arrows, one after another, enveloped in a pale blue halo, piercing the throats of the Mirror Guards. The armor in that spot had been pierced, and the arrows had sunk into the spear-wielding Mirror Guards' bodies, leaving only the fletchings sticking out.

Besides Jiang Ning's pale blue arrows, Qin Zhaoyang's pale red arrows were also constantly attacking the spear-wielding guards. Jiang Ning seemed to have already acknowledged Qin Zhaoyang's presence.

In his view, Qin Zhaoyang was just gambling on a very low probability of killing him, and because of Chen Ye, he couldn't attack Qin Zhaoyang.

"Go fight that elite monster with the spear! It's about to die!"

Someone yelled out, and the sound exploded from behind the crowd.

The crowd instantly stirred.

The teams that were circling around the other four Mirror Guards, unable to find an opportunity to attack, almost simultaneously turned their attention to the Mirror Guard who was holding a spear and was already teetering on the verge of collapse.

A dozen or so people rushed out from different directions.

Some were wielding long swords, some were holding iron rods, and some were empty-handed, all surging towards the spear-wielding mirror guard from all directions.

Their heads were completely empty; they were all missing the survival mark, and the Mirror Guardian was on the verge of death. This was the closest they had ever come to obtaining the survival mark.

"court death!"

Jiang Ning frowned, and her eyes suddenly turned cold.

His bowstring wasn't aimed at the Mirror Guards, but rather at the men charging towards him.

The bowstring vibrated.

Three arrows, enveloped in a pale blue halo, were fired in succession.

The first arrow pierced the chest of the man at the front. The man's body stiffened abruptly, his steps faltered, he looked down at the bloody hole in his chest, then knelt down, fell forward, and slammed his face into the mirrored floor tiles.

The second arrow struck another man in the thigh, piercing through the thigh and exiting from the other side, where it became embedded in the ground.

The man screamed and fell to the ground, clutching his leg and rolling around on the floor.

The third arrow missed, grazing a man's shoulder before embedding itself in the ground behind him.

The man paused, glanced at the still-trembling arrows on the ground, then looked in Jiang Ning's direction. His face turned pale, and he turned and ran.

Everyone else stopped in their tracks.

No one charged forward anymore; everyone stood about twenty meters away from the spear-wielding guards, as if blocked by an invisible wall.

They looked at Jiang Ning, then at the corpse on the ground and the pool of blood spreading, their Adam's apples bobbing, but no one spoke.

The spear-wielding guard continued to stagger forward, silvery-white liquid seeping from more than a dozen wounds on its body, leaving a long trail on the ground.

Jiang Ning withdrew her gaze and stopped looking at those people.

His bowstring was re-aimed at the spear-wielding guard.

An arrow pierced the air and struck the Mirror Guard in the throat.

Just then, three arrows enveloped in a pale red glow shot from another direction, striking the spear-wielding guard squarely on the forehead.

"Boom! Boom! Boom!"

Three explosions rang out in succession around the mirror guard's head, the flames particularly dazzling in the grayish-white skylight.

The spear-wielding guard's helmet shattered, shards flying in all directions, revealing a face without features beneath.

Its body stiffened abruptly, and the spear slipped from its hand, falling to the ground with a crisp sound.

Its silvery-white body swayed twice, then collapsed to the ground like a sculpture whose support had been removed.

Beside the corpse, a hemispherical transparent light shield was placed on the ground. Inside the light shield, a silver-white key lay quietly, its surface covered with fine patterns.

Jiang Ning didn't look at the key; he shifted his gaze from the mirror guard's corpse to the direction from which the arrow had come.

Qin Zhaoyang was holding the Gale Crossbow. Above his head, a silver-white six-pointed star was slowly emerging, from blurry to clear, from semi-transparent to solid, hovering in mid-air and beginning to rotate slowly.

Wen Ning stood right next to Qin Zhaoyang, never leaving his side, her right hand hanging at her side, a faint layer of black mist swirling around her palm.

She didn't make a move throughout, but her stance was clear: she would immediately take action against anyone who dared to touch Qin Zhaoyang.

Jiang Ning's gaze lingered on Wen Ning for a moment, then shifted to the six-pointed star above Qin Zhaoyang's head, before moving away again to Chen Ye's direction.

Chen Ye's spear was pounding against the helmet of the Battle Axe Mirror Guard, silvery liquid flowing down the tip of the spear. His expression remained unchanged, and he didn't even glance in Jiang Ning's direction.

Jiang Ning gripped the longbow tightly, but he made no further move.

He turned his gaze away from Chen Ye. Even though he had obtained a C-level archery skill book and had a talent that gave him four times the base strength for damage, Chen Ye was still someone he couldn't afford to offend.

After the spear-wielding guards fell, the battles in the other four areas gradually came to an end.

The battle axe-wielding guard in front of Chen Ye was already teetering on the brink of collapse, his helmet dented badly by the Demon-Slaying Halberd.

Its tomahawk swing frequency dropped from once per second to once every three or four seconds, and it staggered, its body leaning forward and backward.

Zhou Yating's ice arrows never stopped, precisely striking every crack Chen Ye had created.

Chen Ye glanced at the guard's state, then turned his head to look in Zhou Yating's direction.

He withdrew his gaze, and the attack rhythm of the Demon-Slaying Halberd changed from suppression to restraint. The spear tip no longer aimed at vital points, but instead touched the joints of the Mirror Guard, restricting its movement and attacks.

Zhou Yating seemed to sense something, and the speed of the ice arrows suddenly increased, each arrow aimed at the crack in the Mirror Guard's head that Chen Ye had smashed open.

The ice crystals exploded inside the Mirror Guardian's head.

"Snap—!"

The Mirror Guard's helmet split open in the middle, shards flying in all directions. Inside was a face without features, and silvery-white liquid gushed out from the crack, flowing down his neck.

Its body stiffened abruptly, and the battle axe slipped from its hand, crashing to the ground with a dull metallic clang.

The 2.5-meter-tall, silver-white body swayed twice before crashing to the ground.

A silver six-pointed star cursor slowly appeared above Zhou Yating's head behind her.

"I've obtained the survival mark."

Zhou Yating's tone carried a sense of relief and lightness.

Chen Ye sheathed his spear, the tip resting on the ground. He glanced at her sideways and nodded slightly. "Mm."

The battle on Su Jin's side also ended at the same time.

Su Jin cleaved open the helmet of the Sword and Shield Mirror Guard with a single slash, and Yang Qing seized the opportunity to deliver the finishing blow, plunging his short sword fiercely into the Sword and Shield Mirror Guard's forehead.

The sword-and-shield guard froze, his longsword slipping from his hand and his shield falling off his left arm.

The massive body crashed to the ground.

A silver-white six-pointed star cursor slowly appeared above Yang Qing's head.
