Chen Ye raised his head, his gaze stretching forward along the passage.

The fluorescent light in front was significantly denser than on the sides, and blue-green light poured out from the entrance of the passage, casting a bright patch of light on the passage floor.

Qin Zhaoyang peeked out from behind Chen Ye, his gaze sweeping over the cocoons, each taller than a person. His Adam's apple bobbed. "These cocoons... are much bigger than those on the ground. How big must the things inside be?"

"The cocoon is large, so the insect inside is naturally large as well; it's probably an extra-large facehugger."

Just as he was less than twenty meters from the entrance of the passage, he heard footsteps coming from inside.

The sound of footsteps could be heard from more than one person; at least several people's footsteps echoed in the passageway, growing closer and clearer.

Behind him were three team members, two men and one woman.

At the very back of the line were Jiang Ning and Jian Lan.

Seven people walked out of the passage and stood on the other side of the open area.

They were about ten meters away from Chen Ye's group.

The two groups of people stared at each other across this open space.

The cocoons, taller than a person, were scattered quietly around, like silent spectators.

Tang Jingxin glanced around before her gaze settled on Chen Ye, a slight smile playing on her lips: "What a coincidence."

Tang Jingxin didn't look at Zhao Hai; his gaze remained fixed on Chen Ye.

"There's really no real grudge between us." He paused, glanced at Jiang Ning behind him, then looked back at Chen Ye. "It's just a matter of taking money to solve problems. Jiang Ning gave me a bronze treasure chest and twenty energy potions, and he wants your lives."

Zhao Hai's gaze suddenly shifted to Jiang Ning behind Tang Jingxin, his eyes filled with rage: "Jiang Ning, are you fucking never going to stop?"

Jiang Ning stood at the very back, her expression unchanged.

He didn't even glance at Zhao Hai; his gaze remained fixed on Chen Ye, his eyes revealing no emotion.

Chen Ye reached out and stopped Zhao Hai.

His gaze passed over Tang Jingxin, met Jiang Ning's eyes at the back of the group for about half a second, then returned to Tang Jingxin's face.

"So you want to start a fight here? If we fight here and wake up these bugs, we'll all be in trouble."

Chen Ye glanced at the cocoons, which were taller than a person, along the edge of the cave wall, then looked away: "The things inside these cocoons are not as easy to deal with as those little insects outside."

Tang Jingxin followed Chen Ye's gaze and glanced at the cocoons, the curve of her lips remaining unchanged.

"No, no, no." He shook his head. "It's better to resolve conflicts than to let them fester. I only want the silver treasure chest you have. As long as you hand over the chest, I naturally don't want to get involved in your feud with Jiang Ning."

His smile deepened. "That treasure chest is useless to you; you can't open it without the key. Why not give it to me in exchange for peace? How about it? Fair trade, right?"

Chen Ye's lips slowly curved into a smile: "Trying to eat from both sides, huh? You took Jiang Ning's benefits to deal with us, and now you want to take my benefits to maintain neutrality. Tang Jingxin, you've got a really clever plan."

"He won't give you the treasure chest, so forget about it. Just do it and kill him."

Jiang Ning's voice came from the back of the group.

He immediately flipped his hand, and a short axe with a pale green luster appeared in his hand. He gripped the axe handle tightly, leaned forward slightly, and looked ready to charge at any moment.

Tang Jingxin glanced at Jiang Ning, then looked away and focused her gaze back on Chen Ye's face. Her smile faded and her tone turned cold.

"I'll ask you one last time, the silver treasure chest—are you handing it over or not?"

As soon as he finished speaking, he flipped his hand, and a long spear appeared in his hand.

The gun is entirely black, about two meters long, and has a faint blue glow flowing around it.
