Chapter 34 Making Things Difficult
Seeing the other party's interested expression, Chen An knew how important the Creek family's smuggling routes and list were.
However, he did not immediately make a deal with the other party, but instead tried to ask for as much useful information as possible.
"It seems Miss Susan is very interested in this information. What price are you willing to offer?"
Upon hearing this, Susan calmly replied, "The price will naturally depend on the specific information, so you need to show it to me first before I can make an assessment. However, I guarantee that the minimum price will not be less than ten thousand US dollars, and if it is very detailed, it is possible to reach hundreds of thousands of US dollars."
Chen An was somewhat disappointed with the price. "Is it really worth this little? Isn't this kind of information usually worth millions of US dollars?"
Susan exclaimed in shock, as if she had heard a joke, "Mr. Chen An, that kind of intelligence is not something we can obtain. It concerns matters between the two countries, and the Creek family is at most well-known in Los Angeles and the surrounding area. They are not worth this price at all."
Chen An nodded thoughtfully. He still had too high expectations for this intelligence. This information might be a threat to the Creek family, but to others it was obviously just a piece of information that was neither big nor small.
Susan or the dark web may already have information about the Creek family.
"After all this talk, why don't you let me take a look first, Mr. Chen An?" Susan said.
Chen An shook his head. "This might take a little time. I'll let you know when it's ready."
Hearing Chen An say this, Susan didn't say anything more. She really wanted this kind of information, but if the other party didn't tell her, there was nothing she could do.
"If Mr. Chen An has made up his mind, he can come and find me." Susan smiled and slowly left the Hogston Hotel.
After the person left, Carl asked, puzzled, "Boss, I think our intelligence might only fetch a few tens of thousands of dollars at best. Why didn't we trade with Susan?"
Chen An said, "A deal is definitely going to happen, but have you forgotten that the Creek family is also very interested in this intelligence? Let's extort money from them first, and then trade with Susan. Wouldn't that be making money twice with one piece of intelligence?"
Carl's eyes lit up. "Boss, you're selling to two people at the same time? That's not allowed."
"This item originally belonged to the Creek family. How could we sell it to two people? We can only say that we returned the item to its rightful owner after finding it. The fee the Creek family gave me is not contradictory."
"Boss, what you're saying makes some sense."
Soon, Chen An realized something was wrong. He and Susan had been chatting for at least five or six minutes, and now they had waited another seven or eight minutes, but the dishes still hadn't all been served.
He noticed that several tables nearby, which had arrived later than them, had already started serving their food, which made Chen An frown.
"Karl, go ask why the food hasn't arrived yet."
Carl nodded, got up and walked towards a waiter. After waiting for a long time, Carl not only didn't return, but he also started arguing with the waiter.
This made Chen An realize that something was wrong, and he quickly got up and went over.
"We've been here for at least twenty minutes, and not a single dish has been served yet. They want us to wait? Do they think we're easy to bully?"
Carl sternly questioned the waiter, who took a step back with a hint of disdain. "Sorry, we'll try our best to serve you everything, but it may take a little while."
"Then why were all the dishes served even though they arrived later than us?" Chen An had already approached and was asking for an explanation.
The waiter maintained a calm expression. "Sorry, we probably got the order wrong."
"You've got it wrong! I think you're doing this on purpose!" Karl shouted again.
The commotion quickly attracted the attention of those around them. A group of people were walking briskly from a distance, and several waiters escorted a uniformed man as he approached.
"Gentlemen, this is the Hogston Hotel. Disturbance is not allowed. Please leave!" Manager Van Cardrey said sternly.
Of the three people in front of them, two were dressed in a way that suggested they could afford to eat here; as for Chen An, he was dressed fairly decently, but he was just a yellow-skinned monkey and probably couldn't afford to pay either.
Therefore, Van Kaderi's attitude towards the three was not very good; it could be said that he almost drove them away.
"Fuck! What kind of attitude is this!" Karl's face turned bright red. He was all too familiar with this kind of contemptuous look; he had encountered it often before.
He could tolerate not having money back then, but now he felt incredibly angry. Just as Karl was about to take action, Chen An quickly pulled him back.
"Karl, calm down."
Upon hearing this, Karl gradually calmed down. He knew that taking action now would not bring any benefit and might even trigger a series of chain reactions, affecting tomorrow's operations.
"If you continue to speak nonsense, please leave," Van Carderi said again.
Chen An's eyes darkened. The discrimination here in America is really blatant. Even the waiters can be so obvious about it, and the management doesn't even care and even indulges them.
He was known for his vindictive nature; if he hadn't been about to deal with Creek and didn't want to cause trouble, he would have already found a way to teach these guys a lesson.
After Chen An and his two companions left the hotel, the original order was maintained, as if the conflict just now was unimportant.
"Boss, I really want to burn this place down and beat those guys to a pulp!" Karl said, his fists clenching and unclenching repeatedly, showing how upset he was.
"It's alright, Carl. We can teach these people a lesson after we've dealt with Creek. They're just a bunch of snobbish bastards. Don't bother with them," Chen An reassured him.
I was in a pretty good mood today, but this whole mess has ruined my appetite. I just grabbed a quick lunch at a random restaurant and went back to the Graffiti Building.
Then Chen An lay on the bed and used the shared view to watch the situation on Zhou Hao's side.
Then Zhou Hao entered Creek's villa once again.
"Zhou Hao, you and Richard went to the same school. Do you know who he's offended recently, and where he's hiding? He's been secretly collecting information on our Creek family, which has caused me to get scolded by my father, and even my younger brothers are mocking me!"
Upon hearing this, Zhou Hao replied calmly, "Well... I don't know either. Professor Richard and I have only met a few times, and we haven't had much interaction on campus."
But he knew in his heart that Richard was already in Chen An's hands.
"The Creek family is investigating this matter internally right now. You should also look into it," Creek said.
"Yes, Master Creek."
"By the way, the hotel for the party has been booked. It will be held at the Hogston Hotel. My business partners and friends will be there, so you need to make sure the venue is well arranged, especially the security measures."
Zhou Hao nodded. "No problem, leave it to me."
