"The Maritime Safety Administration said it was a hot potato and told me not to touch it." Wu Sui put away his phone.

Upon hearing this, Lin Tao's expression immediately changed.

"Holy crap, Wang Hai really said that?"

"Ah Sui, listen to your brother's advice, let's forget about this boat."

Lin Tao pulled out his cigarette case, his hands trembling slightly.

"The maritime authorities don't want to get involved. This ship is probably involved in some kind of murder or has some shady trouble."

Wu Sui nodded: "Okay, I'll listen to you."

"Brother Tao, go wait for me in the car. I need to talk to Lao Liu about something. I'll be right there."

Lin Tao didn't think much of it, gave a few instructions, and then turned and disembarked.

After Lin Tao walked away, Wu Sui climbed down the iron ladder back down to the lower deck all by himself.

The light was very dim; you could only barely see the road by the few rays of sunlight filtering through from above.

Wu Sui stood in the center of the computer room, silently chanting to activate the system radar.

Previously, when scanning at sea, the radar interface would display green or gold lights representing marine products.

This time, however, the light screen swept across the entire lower deck structure and finally stopped in a hidden corner near the keel.

A blinding red light flashed wildly on the light screen.

This was the first time Wu Sui had seen red light since acquiring the system.

The red was a dark, almost blackish red, much like a congealed blood clot.

Just looking at this ball of light made Wu Sui feel a tightness in his chest, a tingling sensation on his scalp, and even made it difficult to breathe.

"What kind of weird thing is hiding down there?"

Wu Sui swallowed hard and, following the radar's guidance, slowly made his way to the blind spot.

There was a steel plate that appeared to be seamless, its surface covered with rust.

He squatted down and touched the steel plate with his hand.

It's polished very smoothly, and you can't see any traces of splicing.

Wu Sui turned around and rummaged through the computer room, looking for a handy tool.

After searching for a long time, all they found was a rusty broken iron rod in a corner.

I hit it twice with the broken iron rod, and apart from the thud making my hand numb, the steel plate didn't even leave a mark.

"These smugglers are so well-prepared, what exactly is inside? Contraband? Guns? Or something else?"

Several thoughts flashed through Wu Sui's mind.

If it's contraband or firearms, you absolutely must not touch them; doing so would be a capital offense.

But what if it's money?

The bold get rich, the timid starve.

It's so well hidden, its value must be high.

However, the closer Wu Sui got to that steel plate, the stronger the creepy feeling became.

It was as if a voice in his head was desperately shouting for him to leave immediately.

"Forget it, it's not a good idea to try and do it without the right tools."

Wu Sui threw down the iron bar, dusted off his hands, and climbed down the ladder out of the hold.

By the time Lin Tao escorted him back to the village, it was already completely dark.

Pushing open the gate of the old house, the aroma of food wafted through the courtyard.

Wang Feng, the eldest sister-in-law, was carrying a basin of washed clothes to hang on the clothesline when she saw Wu Sui come in and immediately glared at him.

"Oh, so Boss Wu actually knows how to come back?"

"What time is it? You didn't even call home to let us know you're safe."

Wu Sui grinned and moved closer, not angry at all.

"Sister-in-law, what are you saying? I just went to town to find sales channels. By the way, where's Yaya?"

"She's watching TV inside with Xiaohu!" Wang Feng swung her clothes forcefully onto the rope, splashing water all over Wu Sui's face.

"Let Yaya sleep with me tonight, so you two won't be surprised if she kicks off the covers in the middle of the night."

"Hurry up and wash your hands and eat. The food is still warm in the pot."

Wu Sui felt a warmth in her heart.

That's just how my sister-in-law is; she's sharp-tongued and her words are always barbed, but everything she does is full of warmth and enthusiasm.

After dinner and washing up.

Inside the stone house.

Without Yaya, that little third wheel, the room felt exceptionally spacious.

Chen Xue, wearing a floral nightgown, sat on the edge of the bed drying her hair with a towel.

Wu Sui leaned against the headboard, his mind filled with the dark red light in the lower deck.

"Ah Sui, did you collect the money from selling pearls today?" Chen Xue asked.

"It's been transferred to my card. I made a total of 50,000 from the sale." Wu Sui patted the bank card in his pocket.

Chen Xue paused, her voice rising considerably: "How much?"

Wu Sui: ...

I was so focused on the boat all night that I forgot to mention the money.

Never mind, let's talk about it tomorrow.

Wu Sui hugged his wife, inhaling the scent of shampoo in her hair.

"Honey, I have a question for you."

"Okay, go ahead."

Wu Sui thought for a moment and organized his thoughts.

"What would you do if you discovered something that might be dangerous, or...harmful to national interests?"

Without a second thought, Chen Xue blurted out, "Of course we'll call the police!"

"This is no laughing matter. If something really goes wrong, who will take responsibility?"

Looking at her righteous and awe-inspiring appearance, Wu Sui couldn't help but laugh out loud.

"What are you laughing at? Did I say something wrong?" Chen Xue glared at him.

Wu Sui stopped smiling and lowered her voice.

"What if I told you that I went to town today and found something hidden in that abandoned boat at the dock of our newly bought yard?"

Chen Xue froze, her hands stopping what they were doing: "Hiding something? What is it?"

"I don't know." Wu Sui shook her head and recounted the events of the day in detail.

"Wang Hai warned me on the phone that the boat was a hot potato and I shouldn't touch it."

"I sneaked into the lower deck and took a look. Although I didn't manage to pry it open, I could sense that what was hidden inside was definitely not simple, and might even be dangerous."

As soon as she finished speaking, Chen Xue sat up abruptly, her face turning deathly pale.

She grabbed Wu Sui's arm, her voice trembling.

"Sui, you absolutely mustn't touch that boat, do you hear me?"

"Didn't you just say you were going to call the police?" Wu Sui teased her deliberately.

"Why are you calling the police?!" Chen Xue's eyes welled up with tears.

"You don't even know what's inside. What if it's explosives?"

"What if it was left behind by those ruthless smugglers who kill without blinking an eye?"

"We've finally achieved a peaceful life, I won't let you take this risk."

"If you really want to call the police, let someone else do it; we don't get involved in these things."

Seeing Chen Xue on the verge of tears, Wu Sui felt a warmth in his heart.

Just now she was a righteous and exemplary citizen, but as soon as he was involved, she immediately turned into a selfish and protective little wife.

"Okay, okay, I'll listen to you, I won't touch it, absolutely not."

Wu Sui pulled Chen Xue into his arms, saying, "Whatever my wife says goes."

"Be serious, I'm telling you this." Chen Xue was still struggling.

"I'm very serious." Wu Sui rolled over and pinned her down, then casually pulled the switch on the bedside table to turn off.

The room fell into darkness, with only the increasingly heavy breathing of the two people remaining.

"Hey... what are you doing? It's so hot..."

"It's okay, we can shower together later..."

That night, without Ya Ya causing trouble, the wooden plank bed in the stone house creaked under the weight of the load, and the creaking didn't stop until late into the night.
