Beachcombing: The beach is full of amazing seafood, but my wife won't let me get out of bed!
Chapter 288: After an hour of frantic thrusting, he was out of breath.
After everyone had eaten and drunk their fill, they carried their tools to the deck.
The rain had subsided considerably, turning into a light drizzle, and the sea breeze carried a cool sensation.
Wu Sui walked to his fishing spot, set up his rod, and turned to wave at Da Xiong.
"Brother Xiong, give me two Antarctic shrimp cakes."
Big Bear quickly came over carrying a plastic bucket.
"Ah Sui, this tide is just right, there will definitely be a lot of yellow chickens down there, keep it up."
Wu Sui nodded his thanks, broke the Antarctic shrimp cakes into pieces, and stuffed some into the fish trap.
He then told the others to take it themselves, and turned around to take it to deal with Chi Zai.
The fishhook was also hooked with small pieces of fish meat.
Lin Tao was tidying up the subnets when he turned around and saw Wu Sui's actions, looking puzzled.
"Ah Sui, what are you doing? Trying to catch a tadpole?"
Wu Sui threaded the cut pieces of pork onto the hook and replied without looking up.
"These shrimp cakes dissolve as soon as they're soaked in water, and they feel sticky in your hands, like playing with mud when you were a kid. I can't stand that feeling."
Hearing this, Chen Ping, who was hanging Antarctic shrimp on a hook nearby, pushed up his glasses.
"Ah Sui, you don't understand this."
"The yellow chicken, scientifically known as the three-striped rock perch, has three brown longitudinal stripes on its body."
"This fish has a very small mouth and is a gregarious, mid-to-lower-level fish."
"Their favorite food is Antarctic krill, which has a strong fishy smell and is easy to suck up."
"You're hanging such a big piece of fish, its little mouth can't swallow it at all. It can only peck at it from the side, and it's hard for it to open its mouth properly."
Lin Tao threw the shrimp-attached fishing line into the sea and happily took over.
"Brother Chen, you can talk about science with other people, but why are you trying to talk about science with Ah Sui?"
"Ah Sui is so weird, I believe he can catch fish even if he puts an empty hook down, who cares what he puts on the hook."
Wu Sui ignored Lin Tao's teasing and deftly put the cable set down.
A row of anglers around me had already cast their lines.
Ten minutes or so passed, and the deck was quiet except for the sound of waves lapping against the hull; there wasn't even the sound of the rocking wheel.
A middle-aged man standing nearby couldn't hold back any longer and turned to look at Wu Sui.
"Boss, get ready to unleash your power!"
"If you don't speak first, will the fish below be too scared to move?"
"The shrimp in my fish trap are almost all dead, and there hasn't been a single bite."
Several other anglers nearby joined in the commotion.
"That's right, Ah Sui, hurry up and set an example for everyone."
"If you, this cheater, don't make a sale, we're all feeling pretty hopeless."
Just as Wu Sui was about to reply, the tip of the pole resting on the cannon platform suddenly sank downwards, followed by a violent tremor.
"Holy crap, it's fucking effective!" the middle-aged man cursed, his eyes fixed on Wu Sui's pole.
Wu Sui pushed the electric winch on.
The water here is only about 60 or 70 meters deep.
In less than two minutes, two silver and yellow shadows broke out of the water and splashed on the surface.
Big Bear came over with a net and scooped the fish into the net.
"Beautiful, two yellow chickens flying!"
These two yellow croakers are round in shape, with slightly yellow backs and three distinct horizontal stripes on their sides.
Most importantly, they are big; one weighs over a pound, and the other weighs at least two pounds.
Just as Wu Sui finished untying the fish and threw it into the bucket of running water, Lin Tao next to him shouted.
"I won! I'm here too!"
Next was Chen Ping.
"I've taken the bait too!"
Batu was frantically cranking the wheel, shouting excitedly.
"Brother Sui is awesome, he really attracted a school of fish!"
Wu Sui's act of feeding fish was like flipping a switch.
The entire deck was in an uproar, with the hum of the electric winches echoing everywhere.
A few minutes later, everyone pulled the fish up.
Lin Tao looked at the palm-sized yellow chicken on his hook, then turned to look at the two plump creatures in Wu Sui's bucket, and his smile froze a little.
"No, Ah Sui, why?"
He came over, holding the little yellow chick in his hand.
"Did your fish grow up eating feed? How come it's so much bigger than mine?"
Chen Ping removed his own fish and stared thoughtfully at the remaining pieces of fish meat on Wu Sui's hook.
The next second, he immediately turned around and started rummaging through Wu Sui's bait box.
"Tao, stop talking nonsense and hurry up and cut Chi Zai."
"The flock of yellow chickens below must be layered."
"Small fish are quick to snatch shrimp meat, while big fish have big mouths and can swallow chunks of fish meat in one gulp."
Lin Tao also reacted, and without saying a word, he threw away the Antarctic shrimp in his hand, grabbed the pieces of pork that Wu Sui had cut, and hung them on the rack.
Cast the line again.
In less than a minute, Lin Tao's pole began to shake.
Upon closer inspection, it turned out to be a large yellow chicken weighing nearly two pounds.
"Holy crap, it really is!"
Lin Tao was so excited that he slapped his thigh.
"Ah Sui, you stumbled upon this by accident, but you've actually figured it out! You're getting all the good stuff!"
Wu Sui ignored him and directly cut off the power to the electric winch, switching to a manual crank.
The fish below have gone completely mad by now.
Yellow croakers are very dependent on the tides, and they are most active in feeding during high tide.
These fish are gregarious; they come in large, dark groups and fight fiercely for food.
An hour and a half later, the sound of conversation on the deck completely ceased.
Everyone was repeating the same mechanical actions.
Release the line, hook the fish, reel in the line, untangle the fish, and attach the bait.
Wu Sui's hands flew, cranking the machine even faster than a motor.
The fish were so densely packed that the boatmen originally wanted to put number tags on each fish, but they were overwhelmed after only managing to tag a dozen or so.
"Don't tie it up, don't tie it up, it's too late."
Big Bear turned around and dragged out more than a dozen large plastic baskets from the cabin, distributing them one by one.
"Put your own food in your own basket, and call me to change the basket when it's full."
Wu Sui used both hands to snatch the two yellow chickens, each weighing over two pounds, right off the hook. Before the hook had even fully sunk to the bottom, they were intercepted halfway.
Sweat streamed down his face, and his arms were aching and swollen, but he just couldn't stop.
The radar in my mind showed that the blue dots under the ship were densely packed together, showing no sign of dissipating.
The bald boss was shouting as he cranked the wheel.
"This is awesome, fucking awesome! This is what sea fishing should be like!"
Batu and his two young companions even took off their raincoats and were whipping their clothes in the rain with bare chests, their baskets almost full.
I don't know how much time passed.
Wu Sui cast the fish trap and waited for a full minute, but the rod tip showed no reaction whatsoever.
He paused for a moment, then lifted the rod; it felt empty underneath, the heavy feeling completely gone.
I turned my head and looked.
Lin Tao was leaning against the ship's railing, swinging his arms, while Chen Ping was rubbing his shoulders.
Batu and his friends simply plopped down on the deck, panting heavily.
The entire ship has stopped sailing.
Big Bear walked out, timing himself, and clapped his hands.
"Alright, everyone, the tide has gone out, the fish have gone with the current, no need to cast your lines anymore."
Everyone then seemed to wake up from a dream, and looking at the plastic baskets full of things at their feet, they couldn't stop smiling.
"This was awesome! I smoked at least forty pounds." Lin Tao kicked the basket at his feet, sweating profusely.
Wu Sui looked down at his spoils.
Two large baskets, weighing at least seventy or eighty pounds, and all of them were large yellow chickens.
Big Bear called the boatmen over, tied number tags to the baskets, and carried them to the cold storage.
"Ah Sui, did the yellow chicken have a good time?"
"Go back and rest quickly, the next stop is for the real big shipment."
