Warden of the Beast World: Everyone is a Hakimi
Chapter 40 Competition
"Yes, I'm your fluffy one."
When Youlie said this, his voice was very low, like the rustling sound of the night wind blowing through the treetops.
He gently nuzzled his head against Ye Tang's palm, his gray-blue eyes half-closed with the corners slightly drooping. His obedient and content expression contrasted sharply with his cold and stern face, which could stop a child from crying at night.
Ye Tang felt as if her heart had been suddenly struck by something furry. In her past and present lives, she had petted Ragdolls in cat cafes, played with Golden Retrievers in her neighborhood, and admired countless virtual cats and dogs on her phone screen, but she had never seen anything like this before.
A silver-haired major general with SS-level combat power, broad shoulders, long legs, and deep-set, cold features, lowered his head and nuzzled her hand, looking at her with that kind of gaze. Was this the reward for her 996 work schedule, working overtime until dawn every day, being harassed by clients, and having her wallet emptied by rent in her past life? If so, she accepted it.
Her hand moved faster than her reason—she tiptoed and gently kissed Youlie's cheek.
Ghost Hunter's eyelashes trembled. The tail that had suddenly sprang out behind him froze for a full second, then began to wag merrily, the frequency and amplitude exactly the same as his reaction when he saw roasted lamb chops in his wolf form. But the expression on his face remained cold and calm; only his tail betrayed his inner turmoil.
"Tangtang, you kissed me, so you're my wife now." His tone was calm and firm, not asking for opinions, but stating a fact that had already been established.
"Um... Ah? No, I..." Ye Tang's reason finally surfaced from the sea of fur and she took a breath. What had she just done? She kissed him. Not the kind of kiss you give a dog—although she did kiss a dog—it was the kind of kiss you give a man on the cheek.
Her gaze moved from his grey-blue eyes to the slightly upturned corners of his mouth, then to the swaying tail behind him, and finally back to his eyes. Those eyes held an expression that said, "If you reject me, I'll shatter," not a threat, not coercion, but a frankness that offered his whole heart to her, waiting for her to decide whether to accept it.
"...Alright then." Ye Tang heard her own voice say this.
She quickly mentally prepared herself. In her past life, she was a beast of burden and didn't have time for romance. She even had to cancel a blind date arranged by a colleague because of overtime. But now that she's here, her transmigration package comes with a silver-haired handsome guy with SS-level combat power. He's loyal, can hunt, keep watch, and wag his tail. It wouldn't be a loss to date him.
Anyway, she's the warden of Prison Zero, and she already has five top-tier Imperial fluffy dogs. One more wouldn't make a difference, especially since she raised this one herself.
Youlie's pupils dilated slightly upon hearing those two words. Then he straightened up and gently pulled Yetang into his arms. He didn't speak, his chin resting on her head, his tail wagging wildly behind him, the composed and aloof Imperial Major General now resembling a wolf that had received the greatest reward in the world. But the embrace didn't last long—Youlie stepped back slightly, a hand with distinct knuckles lifting the hem of his shirt to reveal a section of well-defined abdominal muscles.
"Tangtang, look, isn't this what eight-pack abs look like?" His tone remained calm, a statement without any boasting, as if he wasn't flirting with her, but rather confirming an objective fact with her.
Ye Tang's gaze involuntarily drifted downwards. Then her pupils dilated suddenly. Eight-pack abs. Clearly defined eight-pack abs, with the V-line sloping diagonally down her waist. A silver-gray wolf tail tattoo extended from her waistline to the side of her abdominal muscles.
Not the kind of exaggerated physique built with protein powder in the gym, but a lean, muscular build truly forged in battle, every inch of which exudes explosive power. And yet, his expression was so innocent, as if he genuinely was just asking her a question.
"Yes..." Ye Tang felt like her voice was being squeezed out of her throat. This wolf was simply cheating. Her brain had completely shut down.
Ye Tang tilted her head back, her fingers pinching a tissue against her nose, huddled in the corner of the sofa, her ears so red they looked like they could bleed. Her eyes were fixed on the ceiling, refusing to look to the side—next to her stood the culprit who had caused her nosebleed.
Youlie half-squatted beside the sofa armrest, the smile in his gray-blue eyes not yet completely gone. He handed her a glass of ice water with his slender fingers, his voice carrying a very faint, almost imperceptible, innocence: "Tangtang, ice water, for stopping the bleeding."
Ye Tang took the water glass and gulped down a large mouthful. The icy water slid down her throat, finally calming her flushed face a bit. In her twenty-plus years of life, this was the first time she'd ever seen abs so badly she'd gotten a nosebleed. It was embarrassing to even tell anyone. She pressed a tissue to her nose, rolled her eyes, and stubbornly refused to look at You Lie.
Seeing her blushing face yet trying to maintain her composure, Youlie's smile deepened. He didn't say anything more, but quietly squatted down beside the sofa, took the used tissue from her hand, and handed her a new one. The action was as practiced as when he was in wolf form, fetching her slippers every day—except now he used his hands, not his mouth.
Chi Heng rushed in at that moment.
He had a “friendly chat” with Ling Shou in the corridor – which was actually just mutual mockery. They argued about everything from “free-range chicken” to “firebird”, from “poor little thing with no food” to “chicken that was pinned to the ground and admitted defeat”, which made Ling Shou scatter feathers all over the floor.
Chiheng, in high spirits, swished its tail as it walked towards the living area, intending to find Yetang for another ice cream. But the moment it pushed open the door, it saw a scene that made the entire bird crack in disbelief.
Ye Tang, her face flushed, nestled on the sofa, a wad of tissue stuffed in her nose. You Lie, disheveled, squatted beside her, the outline of his abs still faintly visible, a smile on his face that Chi Heng had never seen before in all the years he'd known him. How to describe that smile—gentle, satisfied, with a hint of triumphant composure. Chi Heng wished he were mistaken.
His brain took several full seconds to process the information before him. Then he jumped up, his long, crimson hair bristling like a dandelion, his tail feathers popping out and shaking wildly behind him, his golden eyes filled with shock, anger, and the resentment of betrayal.
"Aaaaaah! You hunter! You have no sportsmanship! You seduced the warden!"
He rushed to the sofa, grabbed Ye Tang's wrist, and pulled her towards him. Ye Tang was pulled so hard that her nose almost bled again, and she mumbled, "Gently, gently, my nose." Chi Heng hurriedly loosened his grip but showed no intention of letting go, instead shaking her hand even more agitatedly.
"Little Warden, you've been fooled! He did it on purpose! He deliberately transformed into human form in front of you, deliberately looked so good, deliberately—Ghost Hunter, put your clothes on!"
Youlie slowly and deliberately pulled down the hem of his clothes, covering the abdominal muscles that had made Yetang's nose bleed. He raised his eyes, his gray-blue eyes calmly looking at Chiheng, the curve of his lips remaining unchanged.
"Didn't you say that I would be the big one and you would be the small one?" Ghost Hunter's voice was calm, as if reminding him of an agreement that had already been reached.
Chi Heng was momentarily speechless at those words. He had said it, of course he had said it—that day when You Lie pinned him to the ground and forced him to admit defeat, he shouted louder than anyone else, "You be the big one and I'll be the small one, okay?"
But that was just a stopgap measure, a tactical compromise, a strategic concession for the sake of cake and ice cream. He never expected that Ghost Hunter would actually, so quickly, in his absence—seduce his young warden!
"That—that's because I didn't agree! No, I said okay, not formally agree! No, no—" His logic got all jumbled up in his head, and finally he gave up on reasoning. He grabbed Ye Tang's arm and hung on her, repeating the same sentence over and over again.
"I don't care! Warden, you can't be biased! I have everything he has! I have his abs too! I have wings! I can breathe fire!" The more he talked, the more outrageous it became, from abs to wings to fire-breathing, as if he wasn't fighting for a female but participating in some kind of orc Olympics all-around competition.
