Quick Transmigration: The Control Group in Sweet Novels
Chapter 63: The Control Group in the Unrequited Love Novel
At 7:30, there were already quite a few people at Peking University Affiliated Hospital. The lobby was filled with the smell of disinfectant, and there were queues of varying lengths in front of the physical examination points for each department.
Qi Yang found the law school's group in Area A. Chen Zuo stood beside her, a head taller than her. He glanced down at his watch, then raised an eyebrow at her. "I have to go."
"You can go now," Qi Yangchong waved his hand.
"Okay." Chen Zuo raised his hand and touched her hair. "Message me after your physical exam, and I'll take you out to eat. Remember to drink some water after your blood test."
Qi Yang nodded. She stood in the line, with seven or eight people ahead of her. She took out her phone and saw a message from Chen Zuo: I've arrived.
Qi Yang replied with an "okay," then put her hands in her pockets, and the line moved forward a few steps.
After the girl in front of me finished having her blood drawn, she took her watch and turned to leave. The doctor, without even looking up, said, "Next."
A doctor wearing glasses sat behind the examination table. He took the medical examination form from her, looked up at her, and said, "ID card."
Qi Yang took out her ID card from her pocket and handed it over. The doctor took it casually, glanced at it, frowned slightly, then looked up at Qi Yang with a furrowed brow, holding up the ID card. "Is this you?"
Qi Yang was taken aback. She looked down and saw the doctor holding an ID card. The person in the photo had high cheekbones, looked calmly at the camera, and had short, neat hair. Who else could it be but Chen Zuo?
Her mind went blank.
"I'm so sorry, I'm so sorry." Qi Yang quickly took back her ID card, her face burning up to her ears. "...I took the wrong one."
The doctor glanced at her, didn't say anything, and waved his hand, "Then come back later, next one."
Qi Yang nodded repeatedly, clutching the ID card awkwardly as she stepped aside. Fortunately, everyone around her was busy and no one noticed her.
As she walked to the door of the department, she quickly took out her phone and sent a message to Chen Zuo: Chen Zuo!! We mixed up our ID cards.
After sending the message, Chen Zuo didn't reply, so Qi Yang had no choice but to head towards Area B.
Chen Zuo had already stopped at the medical examination point. He casually handed over his ID card, but out of the corner of his eye, he caught a glimpse of the person in the photo. He froze, and by the time he realized who it was, it was too late. The doctor took the ID card, paused for a moment on the photo, then turned it over to Chen Zuo, completely bewildered. "Young man, why is there a girl in your photo?"
Another doctor glanced at Chen Zuo's medical examination form and said, "Something's not right. This name doesn't match the one on his ID card."
Chen Zuo pursed his lips and quickly took it back. "Sorry, I took the wrong one."
The doctor suddenly realized, and gave a meaningful laugh, "Oh, I see. The girl in the photo is quite pretty, but she doesn't resemble you at all."
The young doctor next to him couldn't help but chuckle.
Chen Zuo was unusually embarrassed. He apologized again, turned around and quickly went out. He took out his phone, opened it and saw Qi Yang's message. He quickly replied, "I'll deliver it to you." Before he could relax, he caught a glimpse of a familiar figure in the corridor that day.
Qi Yang walked quickly, and Chen Zuo put away his phone and pulled her aside.
Qi Yang slapped her ID card into his palm, "So embarrassing."
"What if I don't come with you?" Chen Zuo looked down at her, a slight smile playing on his lips. "Don't worry, no one will laugh at you."
Qi Yang's face was still hot, and she remained silent.
"Come on, look how worried you are," Chen Zuo teased, taking her hand and quickly kissing her on the cheek when no one was around. "Go on, hurry up."
Qi Yang pursed her lips. "...Oh."
She looked up and met Chen Zuo's smiling gaze, and Qi Yang couldn't help but smile as well.
The two of them teamed up and did something stupid.
After a minor misunderstanding, the rest of the medical examination process went exceptionally smoothly.
The lobby was bustling with people, filled with the soft chatter of those around him. Chen Zuo walked out of the medical examination room, bought a bottle of yogurt that Qi Yang liked from the vending machine, and then went to the main entrance of the hospital to wait.
A crowd surged at the entrance. Chen Zuo, tall and slender, stood quietly at the edge of the crowd, drawing attention. He lowered his eyes and sent a message to Qi Yang, patiently waiting for her to finish her medical examination.
Suddenly, a soft female voice sounded beside him, "Chen Zuo?"
Chen Zuo looked up.
Xia Nian recognized his face and paused, "It really is you."
The girl in front of him had light makeup, and her features seemed somewhat familiar. Chen Zuo paused for a couple of seconds before pulling the corresponding name from his memory, "Xia Nian?"
Xia Nian noticed the brief hesitation in his eyes, and smiled helplessly, "Long time no see."
"Long time no see," Chen Zuo said calmly. "You're also at Peking University?"
Xia Nian hummed in agreement, smiled softly, and looked at the boy in front of her, scrutinizing him closely.
His figure became increasingly upright, his eyebrows and eyes lost their youthful immaturity, his features became sharp and strong, yet he still retained a trace of the clean and youthful spirit that was familiar to her.
"I'd heard you were at Peking University before," Xia Nian said frankly, glancing around at him before casually asking, "By the way, where's Qi Yang?"
She had seen photos of the two of them together on the school wall long ago, never expecting that they would actually be together. She had also imagined countless times what it would be like to bump into Chen Zuo. She might feel flustered and embarrassed, but when she actually looked at him face to face, she felt very at ease.
Those long-held feelings of excitement in her heart had long since faded with time.
Chen Zuo wasn't surprised. They were high school classmates, so it was perfectly normal for him to know that he was with Qi Yang.
"She's still inside for a medical check-up." The boy's lips curled into a faint smile as he spoke of Qi Yang.
Xia Nian nodded gently and didn't bother her any further. She smiled faintly and said, "Then I won't bother you any longer. I have something to do, so I'll be going now."
"Okay, goodbye."
Chen Zuo nodded slightly. Xia Nian had already turned around and merged into the crowd. Chen Zuo glanced at the entrance of the hospital lobby again and waited patiently.
A few minutes later, a familiar figure walked out of the hall.
Qi Yang walked out with the crowd, looked around at the door, and saw Chen Zuo.
Chen Zuo also saw her. He immediately stepped forward, avoiding the crowd, pulled her out, and then stuffed the yogurt into Qi Yang's hand.
Qi Yang thanked him, unscrewed the yogurt bottle cap, and took a sip.
Chen Zuo kept looking at her.
After starting university, Qi Yang stopped wearing her hair in a ponytail as often, and her soft, long hair draped over her shoulders, giving her a more mature look.
Qi Yang noticed that he was staring at her intently, his gaze unwavering. She looked up at him, puzzled, and asked, "Why are you staring at me like that?"
Chen Zuo gently pinched her cheek with his fingers, his eyes tender and affectionate. "You seem to have grown even more beautifully."
"...?"

In the first semester of his junior year, Chen Zuo interned at a startup founded by a senior student, starting with the most basic business operations and gradually helping the company get on track. The dormitory's uniform schedule was no longer suitable for his busy work pace, so Chen Zuo simply moved out of the dormitory and into an off-campus apartment.
In the same year, Qi Yang also successfully entered a top law firm for an internship based on her excellent academic performance. Qi Yang was exposed to practical cases day after day in the law firm, and completely shed her student naivety. After the internship, she did not choose to continue to work, but instead continued to pursue a master's degree at Peking University.
One of them was busy starting a business, and the other was focused on graduate studies; both were working non-stop.
Even with his busy work schedule, Chen Zuo would still make time to accompany Qi Yang to school, even if it was just to have a meal together. Over time, the two naturally entered a semi-cohabiting relationship. The most obvious change was that Chen Zuo's cooking skills gradually improved.
Both sets of parents were aware of each other's existence, which stemmed from an awkward turn of events.
