Quick Transmigration: The Control Group in Sweet Novels

Chapter 31: The Control Group in the Unrequited Love Novel

These teenagers were close friends and used to fooling around. Chen Zuo had a relaxed smile on his face and, through his friends' figures, he could see the figures walking towards the teaching building outside the venue.

A ponytail swayed gently in the air on the back of her full head. Her school uniform covered her slender body, and her snow-white skin stood out among the students.

He bounced the ball a few times and tossed it to Lou Yu, who was nearby.

Lou Yu caught it out of habit, and seeing him turn around, she asked in surprise, "Aren't you going to fight anymore?"

Chen Zuo walked to the rest area, picked up a bottle of mineral water and took a sip, his slender knuckles getting wet from the cold air emanating from the bottle.

He screwed the bottle cap on, his gaze passing over the sports field netting; only a few students remained in the teaching building.

"I'm not playing anymore, I'm going back to studying."

Lou Yu also came down from the field. Hearing this, he went to get his own things. "Hey, wait a minute, I'll go with you."

"Can you explain the last big question to me again later? I didn't quite understand what Lao Zhou said; it was all very confusing."

"Go ask Lao Zhou," Chen Zuo said nonchalantly.

Lou Yu's lips moved a few times, but finally she pointed at him with heartache, "...You're heartless!"

The boys quickly made their way to the third floor. Chen Zuo raised his hand to wipe the thin layer of sweat from his forehead. His black short-sleeved shirt clung to his shoulder blades, and many girls in the stairwell couldn't help but glance at him.

The classroom door for the advanced class was wide open.

The girl had already taken her seat in a perfect spot by the window, where the classroom's incandescent light gently enveloped her.

Qi Yang bent down and picked up the math test paper from that morning, her eyes lowered as she carefully flipped through it.

Although Teacher Zhou said that this question was not difficult, from her perspective, it was not simple. Qi Yang took out the answer steps that Teacher Zhou had taught her today to review.

Her long eyelashes drooped, casting a light shadow under her fair eyelids; her profile was fair and serene.

Chen Zuo paused subconsciously.

Lou Yu walked to the classroom door, turned around and saw that he hadn't followed. She turned back in confusion, "Standing by the door getting some wind?"

Chen Zuo lifted his eyelids and stepped into the classroom.

After evening self-study, Qi Yang went home, but her parents were not home. Her parents had gone to work in another city when she was very young, and she had lived with her grandmother since she had memories of the past, until her grandmother passed away, after which her parents brought her back.

This is why the original owner always liked Chen Zuo.

He doesn't look lonely at all.

Qi Yang took out the crumpled report card. Her results in this monthly exam were indeed not ideal, dropping from 52nd to 78th in the grade. For a high school student, this was a devastating blow.

Qi Yang found a blank sticky note and wrote "60" on it, which meant her goal for the next exam.

After setting ambitious goals, Qi Yang went to wash up and prepare for bed. Before going to sleep, she tidied her schoolbag but unexpectedly couldn't find her MP3 player.

Suzhou High School is the top high school in the city, and the school is extremely strict. It is not allowed to bring cell phones on weekdays, so some students find ways to get their hands on foreign gadgets.

The original owner was no exception; he bought a small MP3 player with his New Year's money and used it for several years.

But now it's gone.

I searched all over my school uniform pockets, but couldn't find it.

Could it be that you forgot it at school?

After searching for a while without success, Qi Yang gave up and decided to go to the school to look for it again tomorrow.

Surprisingly, the desk was thoroughly searched the next day, but the small MP3 player was nowhere to be found. Ji Tingyu watched her frantically searching and asked, puzzled, "What are you looking for?"

Qi Yang opened the inner compartment of the test paper and explained softly, "I can't find my MP3 player."

Ji Tingyu remembered that thing, and upon hearing this, she immediately searched her own desk, but found nothing.

Ji Tingyu knew that she had been using that MP3 player for several years, and fearing that she might be worried, she suggested, "Why don't you think carefully about where you went yesterday? Did you leave it there?"

Qi Yang recalled the equipment room she had visited yesterday.

It was right after morning reading, and there weren't many people in the class. Most of them had gone to eat breakfast, so there was plenty of time. When Ji Tingyu saw Qi Yang get up, she suggested, "I'll go with you."

"It's alright, I'll be back soon."

The sports equipment room was in the next building. The corridor was full of students returning after breakfast. Squeezing through the crowd, Qi Yang quickly arrived. The room was filled with the smell of equipment and supplies, a rather unpleasant smell of rust and dust.

She looked around the place she had been yesterday, but couldn't find it.

I walked around the house again. Could it be that she left it at the wonton shop without her knowledge yesterday?

Just as I was thinking, I heard footsteps outside the door.

Qi Yang subconsciously turned her head to look at the door that had been pushed open, and saw a face that was exactly the same as yesterday.

Both of them were slightly taken aback.

Chen Zuoxian strode in, carrying the heavy objects he was holding. The PE teacher had asked him to move things. Although the PE teacher wasn't very noticeable and had low attendance, he was very good at ordering people around.

He placed two large bags of volleyballs, heavy in his hands, on the corner of the wall. As he straightened up, he looked at the other person in the corner.

The equipment room wasn't well-lit, with only a few small windows high up letting in some sunlight.

She stood amidst the light, wearing a blue and white school uniform, her hair tied in a ponytail, with a few stray strands falling beside her ears.

So innocent and well-behaved.

Chen Zuo's fingers curled slightly.

The two of them were alone in the quiet equipment room.

Why did we run into each other again today...? Qi Yang avoided eye contact and bent down to feel around at the bottom of the shelf.

Chen Zuo checked the list in his hand, but his ears followed the subtle movement behind him.

When Chen Zuo turned around with the list in his hand, the girl was squatting on the ground, her ponytail hanging down her shoulder, revealing a small section of her fair nape. Her fingers were carefully tracing patterns on the ground.

He scanned the room and spotted a small white object under the volleyball.

Chen Zuo's eyes flickered slightly, and he picked it up.

It is an MP3 file.

"Looking for this?"

A boy's clear voice rang out in the quiet room. Qi Yang paused slightly, turned around, and saw what he was holding.

As she got closer, she realized that the boy was unusually tall.

Qi Yang nodded and said softly, "It's this one, thank you."

As she spoke, she raised her hand to take it.

As Chen Zuo handed it to her, he gazed at her delicate features and chuckled, "Not crying today?"

Realizing what he was talking about, Qi Yang's expression froze, and she subconsciously looked over.

The boy had neat black hair, well-defined eyebrows and eyes, neither too wide nor too narrow double eyelids, and a straight nose—a typical handsome man with striking bone structure. Seeing the mockery in his eyes, Qi Yang blushed, took the item, and stuffed it into her school uniform pocket. "...Nothing."

Chen Zuo noticed her slightly uncomfortable expression but didn't press her further; however, the smile on his lips remained.

"Thank you." Qi Yang's face was sincere. "And thank you for yesterday too."

She was referring to the fact that she was covered for her yesterday.

Chen Zuo raised an eyebrow, his voice indifferent, "No need, just do a good deed every day."
