The first punch that shocked the basketball world
Chapter 21 My Little Brother! Off to Salt Lake City!
Ten minutes later, the car stopped at the back gate of the vegetable market.
"Wait for me in the car for a bit," Lin Fei said. "I'll be right back."
He got out of the car, and after many twists and turns, he found his way to a stall.
The stall owner is a middle-aged Chinese man named Lao Chen, who wholesales vegetables and meat.
My aunt has been getting groceries from him these past few days; they're fresh and plentiful.
"Little Fei is here?"
Old Chen greeted him with a smile, "What would you like to order today?"
"I'm not buying groceries." Lin Fei smiled. "Uncle Chen, my aunt asked me to come over and talk to you about a long-term grocery delivery service."
He took out the prepared contract and handed it over.
The duration is three months.
Prices are based on wholesale rates, and delivery to restaurants is made before 7 a.m. every day.
The contract includes two additional clauses: The restaurant has the right to unilaterally terminate the contract if ingredients are not fresh or delivery is late. The supplier is fully responsible for any hygiene issues with the ingredients.
These are all lessons learned from being scammed by Lao Hei last time.
Sign a shorter contract; if it's not good, change it; don't be passive.
Old Chen took the contract, glanced at it, and patted his chest in agreement.
"Don't worry! All the vegetables in my family are harvested fresh daily, absolutely fresh!"
The two signed the papers without hesitation.
It took less than twenty minutes in total.
Lin Fei carried the contract back to his car.
"Where did you go?" Emily tilted her head to look at him.
"We've finalized a grocery delivery deal." Lin Fei tossed the contract to her.
Emily flipped through the pages and stuck out her tongue.
"You're so quick to negotiate with others, aren't you?" She reached out and hugged Lin Fei's arm, shaking it playfully. "But when it comes to me, you're so hesitant and reluctant."
The soft, fluffy steamed bun stuck to it.
Lin Fei didn't pull away, letting her hold him.
"How can that be the same?" He smiled. "If you raise the profit margin by ten percent, I'll sign the contract with you right now."
Emily immediately let go, her face falling.
"I don't own the company," she pouted. "You're putting me in a difficult position."
A line from his past life popped into Lin Fei's mind.
Is it too difficult? I think we should just skip it.
Of course, I didn't say it out loud.
The car pulled up to a nearby coffee shop.
The two of them wanted a small private room.
We ordered two coffees, sat down, and started arguing.
Lin Fei insisted on adding ten points.
Emily complained bitterly, saying that it was the company's pricing and she had no authority to change it.
"Then call your manager and ask," Lin Fei said calmly, leaning back on the sofa. "Just tell him we don't agree to this price."
Emily had no choice but to take out her phone and go outside to make a call.
I'll be back in five minutes.
"The manager said the maximum we can offer is five points," she said. "That's the limit."
Lin Fei shook his head.
"Five points won't do," he said. "With two people cooking and such a heavy workload, what can five points possibly cover?"
The two chatted for another ten minutes or so.
Emily went out to make another phone call.
He returned looking utterly helpless.
"7.5 points," she said. "That's the most I can go, the manager is about to yell at me to death."
Lin Fei pondered for a moment.
7.5 points, a meal costs more than sixteen yuan.
The profit is okay, a little worse than expected, but acceptable.
"Okay." Lin Fei nodded. "7.5 points it is."
Emily breathed a sigh of relief.
She called the waiter and asked a print shop to reprint the contract.
Lin Fei took it and examined it carefully to make sure there were no flaws, then signed his name.
Two contracts, one for each person.
It's done.
My aunt's family will have more stable income in the future.
After signing the papers, Emily didn't sit back down opposite him.
She stood up and sat down next to Lin Fei.
She gently touched Lin Fei's chest with her finger, drawing circles.
"You brat."
She raised her eyes, her gaze alluring: "Having taken such a big advantage of you, shouldn't you repay me?"
Lin Fei smiled.
"How do you want to repay me?"
As soon as he finished speaking, Emily leaned in and kissed his lips.
Lin Fei didn't dodge; he raised his hand and cupped the back of her head, deepening the kiss.
Their breaths mingled, carrying the aroma of coffee.
When they parted, Emily's cheeks were flushed and her chest rose and fell slightly.
She got up, straightened her skirt, and picked up her bag.
"Alright." She winked at Lin Fei. "Sister is very satisfied."
"Next time we meet, I hope you'll repay me even more."
She waved, opened the door to the private room, and left.
Lin Fei watched her retreating figure and touched his lips.
The taste is not bad.
But that's about it.
Girls of mixed Chinese and American heritage are generally outgoing and fun-loving.
If a good deal comes knocking on your door, you might as well take advantage of it.
If we really want to develop further, we need to think it over carefully.
Who knows if it's safe or if someone has a disease?
He doesn't want to stumble over something like this so early in his career.
...
The coffee shop is not far from the restaurant.
Lin Fei strolled back.
Upon entering, he placed two contracts in front of Lin Xiuqin.
"Aunt, everything has been settled."
Lin Xiuqin picked them up and saw that both the food delivery contract and the group meal contract were signed neatly.
The group meal was a little more expensive than she had expected.
"Ouch!"
She couldn't stop smiling: "Xiaofei has really grown up! He can handle this kind of thing all by himself!"
"It's nothing," Lin Fei smiled. "Don't push yourselves too hard, and hire someone if you get tired. Don't ruin your health just to make money."
He paused.
"The group meal contract is also renewed every three months. After three months, we feel it's too tiring, so we don't renew it."
"I know, I know." Lin Xiuqin nodded repeatedly, her wrinkles crinkling into a smile.
Elders love this kind of thing; their nagging concern is warmer than anything else.
Despite the joy, the spirit of gossip remains undiminished.
After exchanging only a few words, the topic shifted back to Sofia.
"By the way, what happened to that female colleague who brought you home the other day? She hasn't been here lately." Lin Xiuqin leaned closer. "How are things going between you two?"
Lin Fei was completely bewildered upon hearing this.
"Auntie, I'm a little tired, I'll go upstairs and rest for a while."
He got up and ran upstairs.
"Oh, you silly child!"
Lin Hsiu-chin laughed and scolded from behind, "You just said you weren't tired!"
Lin Fei pretended not to hear and ran upstairs.
Lin Xiuqin picked up the contract and flipped through it twice more.
The more I look at it, the more satisfied I become.
Her husband was honest but not good with words; in the past, she was the only woman running around handling things outside the home.
Now my nephew has grown up and can take care of things.
very nice.
Just then, the door was pushed open with a bang.
Zhu Xiuli rushed in with her schoolbag on her back.
"Mom! I'm hungry! What are we having for dinner?"
Lin Xiuqin's good mood vanished instantly.
"Eat, eat, eat! All you ever do is eat!" she said irritably. "I'm not cooking today! You're going to go hungry!"
Zhu Xiuli stood there, looking aggrieved.
Why did I get scolded again?
She pouted and walked upstairs.
"Mom, remember to call me when dinner is ready!"
"Go do your homework!" Lin Xiuqin grabbed her apron and headed to the kitchen.
...
The next morning, Lin Fei arrived at the Toyota Center on time.
The intensity of training decreased significantly today.
We did a simple warm-up with shooting drills, went over the tactics once, and then didn't increase the intensity.
At 5 PM, they will play the Utah Chargers, the Jazz's affiliate team, away from home.
After having lunch in the cafeteria, the whole team gathered and boarded the bus.
The bus drove out of Los Angeles and headed towards Salt Lake City.
Lin Fei sat in the back row by the window, closing his eyes to rest.
It took about forty minutes to drive there.
boom!
A muffled thud.
The car suddenly swerved to the side.
The driver swerved sharply and slowly pulled over to the side of the road.
The car instantly erupted in chaos.
"Holy crap? A flat tire?"
"No way, this is really bad luck?"
The players got off the bus cursing.
The right rear tire is completely flat.
Harris squatted down beside him and looked at him; his face was as black as charcoal.
"What the hell is wrong with me?" He lit a cigarette. "How could I run into something so ridiculous?"
Lin Fei leaned against the car door, his hair slightly disheveled by the wind.
His first official professional game was interrupted by a tire blowout on the bus.
All the bad things have already been revealed in advance.
In this game, shouldn't it be his turn to shine?
