An unnamed island in the eastern Pacific Ocean.

Azure waters lap against white sandy beaches, and coconut palms sway gently in the warm tropical breeze. The island is small, covering about ten square kilometers, with a hundred-meter-high hill rising in its center. From a distance, it looks like a deep green gem embedded in the boundless sea.

On the western side of the island, a man-made deep-water pier extends into the sea. Three gray warships are quietly moored beside the pier, and on their decks, a group of sailors in navy blue uniforms are lined up.

On the inner side of the island, which is right next to the pier, a large area of vegetation has been neatly cut away, revealing a gray-white concrete building.

The roar of propellers grew louder as they approached.

The wind pressure generated by the tiltrotor helicopter bent the surrounding vegetation crookedly, and its fuselage, larger than that of a regular helicopter, was painted with a silver eagle emblem on both sides. It circled at low altitude once, then landed vertically on the helipad on the west side of the island.

The hatch opened, a folding gangway descended, and two men in dark gray combat uniforms stepped out. They were muscular, and tactical sunglasses covered most of their faces. After landing, the two quickly scanned their surroundings to confirm safety, then slightly turned to the side.

At the cabin door, a long, slender, and powerful leg emerged—a black pointed high heel stepped onto the gangway step, the slender heel making a crisp sound as it struck the metal.

Dark gray trousers hugged her straight legs, outlining her full hips and slender waist. A sharply tailored suit jacket completed the look, its cinched waist accentuating her tall and shapely figure.

Her long, wine-red hair fluttered slightly in the aftershocks of the rotors, revealing a stunningly beautiful face—exquisite features, fair and delicate skin, and cherry-red lips beneath a high, straight nose.

Standing on the gangway, her height of 1.78 meters was extremely striking among women. The two completely different temperaments of strength and allure seemed perfectly harmonious on her.

Outside the tarmac, a middle-aged white military officer had been waiting for some time. He was wearing a gray-green military uniform with silver eagle insignia on his shoulder straps, and he was muscular with the marks of sun and wind on his face.

When he saw the woman in front of him walk out of the cabin, his gaze lingered on her for two seconds—with scrutiny, and something else entirely.

He recognized the woman. She was a rising star on Capitol Hill in recent years, holding a high position at a young age, which made those who knew her gossip behind her back.

He stepped forward, speaking with a perfect New York accent: "Welcome, Ms. Lilith. My name is Rogers, and I'm the naval captain in charge of this area." He extended his hand, a smile on his face, but his tone was somewhat casual. "I'd heard someone was coming to take over, but I didn't expect..." His gaze lingered on her for a moment, "...to be such a beautiful lady."

Lilith grasped his hand with just the right amount of force, and withdrew it without any unnecessary movement.

She glanced at Rogers, took out a document, and said in a polite but cold tone, "Colonel Rogers, your mission is complete. This place is now handed over to me. This is the transfer order issued by the military."

Rogers' smile faded. He took the documents, checked them, and said seemingly casually, "I've been stationed at this base for two years, but it's never been used. Recently, a lot of equipment and supplies have arrived. I wonder what we're going to do with it next?"

Lilith looked up at him. "This is a field handover, not intelligence sharing." Her voice wasn't loud, but every word was chilling. "What you need to know is already clearly stated in the transfer order. The rest is none of your concern."

Rogers' lips twitched, a hint of displeasure flashing in his eyes. He cursed inwardly, "That damn bitch, she's climbed to this position at such a young age, who knows how many men she's slept with, and now she's putting on airs."

He harbored unspeakable, sordid thoughts, but outwardly pretended to be nonchalant.

"Understood." He shrugged, turned around, gestured to the soldiers behind him, and led the team toward the dock.

Lilith stood there, watching Rogers's retreating figure, her expression unchanged.

Over the years, she had grown accustomed to that gaze. Those self-righteous men always thought they saw through everything, but in reality, they only saw what they wanted to see.

The three warships slowly started up one after another and sailed away from the dock.

Lilith watched the warship disappear beyond the coastline before turning and walking towards the gray-white concrete building.

Inside the base, a wide passageway, large enough to accommodate two trucks side by side, stretches straight for hundreds of meters, leading deep into the mountainside.

The corridor was lined with rooms, all equipped with basic living facilities, and even the ventilation systems had been pre-tested. The lighting was cool and even, and there was no smell of dust in the air, only the metallic and rubbery smell unique to new equipment.

Lilith walked down the corridor, the sound of her heels striking the ground crisp and rhythmic.

At the end of the passage was a tall, heavy iron gate. She entered the password on the panel on the adjacent wall, and the iron gate slowly opened—a spacious training field came into view. The training field was built inside the mountain, with a height of tens of meters and an area comparable to ten football fields.

Various training equipment have been neatly arranged in the venue. The ground is covered with dark gray shock-absorbing material, and lighting strips are embedded around the perimeter, providing soft and bright light.

She walked around the training ground to make sure all the facilities were working properly when a video conference request suddenly appeared on the Apostle's panel.

Two bars of the screen lit up simultaneously. On the left was Liu Feng, his back straight, his face resolute, like an unmoving stone. On the right was a handsome white man in his thirties, casually reclining on a leather sofa, a crystal glass beside him, a dark red wine stain still clinging to its rim.

Liu Feng spoke first. "How is the overseas base opening progressing? Is it ready for use?"

"Chief Instructor," Lilith said with a smile, her tone completely different from when she was facing Rogers, "all five backup bases in South and North America are now activated, and site inspections are complete." She paused for a moment, "The final batch of supplies will arrive tomorrow, and the bases will be ready for use at any time."

Liu Feng nodded: "Okay, I will arrange for personnel to be stationed here later."

The handsome white man swirled his wine glass, a lazy smile on his face: "Europe and Africa are ready too. Lilith, your progress is a step behind ours."

Lilith glanced at him sideways: "Samael, when are you going to shut your mouth?"

Samael smiled nonchalantly and took a leisurely sip of red wine: "I call this efficiency. What do you call this? You personally visit every base, are you going to take photos as souvenirs?"

Just as Lilith was about to retort, Liu Feng's voice interrupted the conversation: "The submission time for the logistics plan has been set. By tomorrow night, the lists of material needs from each region must be compiled, and unified dispatch will begin the day after tomorrow."

"That's quite a rush," Samael sighed, but did not object.

Lilith chuckled softly, "Head Instructor, you're still so serious. I've known you for so many years, and I've never seen you crack a joke."

"Preparing for battle is no joke," Liu Feng said, his tone unchanged, but he paused. "Well, thank you for your hard work."

After Liu Feng finished speaking, he prepared to hang up the call.

Samael's voice drifted over: "Chief Instructor, you're so serious, no wonder you're still single."

Liu Feng paused for a moment, as if he hadn't heard, and then the screen cut off.
