Chapter 49 Yuko Morishita's Dark and Cruel Heart
The bell that rang during the last class on Friday afternoon instantly brought the entire classroom to life.
Two days have passed since the last case was solved, and with the weekend just around the corner, everyone's spirits are visibly much more relaxed.
The academic atmosphere at Teitan High School isn't actually as intense as outsiders imagine. The top students in Class A are fiercely competitive, while Class B, mostly comprised of students with average to above-average grades or from well-off families, doesn't actually experience as much pressure.
As for those with poor grades? Sorry, if you don't have money and power, you simply can't get in.
For Toru Hanyu, this weekend was equally eventful.
This week I'm not only going on a date with Sonoko, but tonight I'm also going to Ooka Momiji's house for a tutoring session.
Because his class on Wednesday was canceled at the last minute, he had some free time and went to a karuta club to practice his skills in case the young lady made a surprise attack.
"By the way, Yuzuru-kun, are you going to the library to study tonight?"
As Yuko Morishita, who sat at the desk in front of her, slowly packed her bag, she turned around and asked softly.
"Not today." Yuzuru stuffed the last book into his bag and zipped it up. "I have tutoring tonight; Wednesday's class has been moved to today."
"Oh, right." Yuko Morishita suddenly realized, and then a hint of gossip gleamed in her eyes, which were always hidden behind her glasses. "So... what's that young lady's family like?"
"Hmm?" Yuzuru asked, puzzled.
"It's that Miss Hongye from last time."
"Her?" Yuzuru thought for a moment and described her in a calm tone, "Her family lives in a detached villa area in the center of Tokyo. Their house is decorated with all kinds of antique paintings that I don't understand but are very valuable. They have a personal butler and they probably eat a different Western meal every day."
"Is it that exaggerated?" Yuko Morishita adjusted her glasses. As a typical library whiz, her understanding of the world of the wealthy mostly came from novels, but she always felt that those novels were not very realistic.
Curious, she pressed on, "So... is the young lady's butler only responsible for her daily needs?"
"More or less." Yuu Tetsu recalled Iori Muga's appearance. "Not only did he take care of the young lady's daily life, but I also felt like he was part-time as her bodyguard. Although I've never seen him fight, he gave the impression that he was quite strong."
"I see..." Yuko Morishita nodded thoughtfully, as if she was constructing some kind of image in her mind.
Seeing her serious expression, Yuzuru couldn't help but ask, "By the way, why are you asking such detailed questions?"
"Yes." Yuko Morishita didn't hide anything and nodded frankly. Then she pulled a brand-new notebook out of her bag and said softly, "I'm planning to write a novel recently."
"A novel?" Yuzuru was somewhat surprised.
"Yes, romance novels."
"Don't you hate reading those kinds of things the most?" Yuzuru remembered that the last time someone lent her a novel, she flipped through two pages and said that the logic was flawed, so she returned it to the person.
"I was just writing for fun." Yuko Morishita showed a rare hint of embarrassment.
Yuzuru became interested: "What's the plot like?"
"Hmm... let me think." Yuko Morishita cleared her throat, seemingly organizing her outline. After a moment, she began, "The female lead is a super rich heiress, and the male lead is her tutor. Then, they fall in love, but face strong opposition from the heiress's parents, resulting in the male lead being fired."
"..."
Yuzuru didn't speak, gesturing for her to continue.
"Then! For love, the female lead secretly ran away from home to find the male lead, only to discover that he had a new lover! The female lead was utterly disappointed and her heart was shattered."
Yuko Morishita paused for a moment, then added, "But actually, that so-called new love interest is just the male protagonist's classmate; they are not in a romantic relationship at all."
"?"
After hearing this convoluted plot, a big question mark slowly appeared in Toru Hanyu's mind.
What kind of melodramatic, painful literature is this?
"Speaking of which, isn't this plot a bit off? Something feels off. Are you sure you didn't include me?" Yuzuru raised his eyes and looked at Morishita Yuko, who was looking at him expectantly.
"Huh? You figured that out?" Yuko Morishita was a little surprised, as if her secret had been exposed, and she seemed somewhat embarrassed.
"It's hard not to see it." Yuzuru was somewhat speechless. "First of all, the female lead is a rich young lady. Secondly, the male lead is a tutor. Add to that the questions you just asked me, isn't it obvious who you're alluding to?"
"Haha..." Yuko Morishita laughed awkwardly, her fingers unconsciously tracing the cover of the notebook. "It's not entirely based on your experiences..."
"The plot is too third-rate," Yuzuru shook his head and gave his evaluation.
"Huh? I thought it was great!" Yuko Morishita said, a little unconvinced.
"Don't you think this plot is as bland as plain water? It's just misunderstandings and more misunderstandings, it's so boring."
"Then how should I change it?" Yuko Morishita immediately switched to her studious mode, eager to learn.
"For example, add some suspense elements," Yuzuru Tetsu casually remarked.
"Huh? Suspense?"
"That's right." Yuzuru's mind immediately clicked. "For example, after the female lead discovers that the male lead has a 'new love,' she appears heartbroken on the surface, but secretly, due to her strong possessiveness, she directly hires someone to 'kill' the male lead's female classmate."
He made a gesture.
"Then, because the male protagonist had a good relationship with that female classmate, he was naturally made the prime suspect by the police. Just when the male protagonist was unable to defend himself, the female protagonist appeared as a savior and used her family's power to help the male protagonist clear his name."
"Wow..." Yuko Morishita's eyes lit up.
"Immediately afterwards, the male protagonist was moved to tears, and their relationship deepened. However, during their time together, the male protagonist gradually discovered some clues, such as the female protagonist's strange words and actions during the time of the crime, or her inadvertently revealed knowledge of the deceased... Finally, after some deduction, the male protagonist was shocked to discover that the perfect girlfriend who helped him get away with the crime was actually the mastermind behind it all..."
Yuzuru finished speaking in one breath, and it felt quite impressive.
"What happened next! What happened next!" Yuko Morishita was so engrossed that she leaned forward involuntarily. "What happened to the male lead after he discovered the female lead's true identity? Did he harm her? Or did he forgive her?"
"The rest?" Yuzuru glanced at her, shrugged, and said, "That's it."
"Huh??? That's it?" Yuko Morishita's expression was like that of someone watching a movie at its climax when a 30-second "GG" scene suddenly appeared on the screen, followed by the end credits—full of disappointment and frustration.
"You'll have to figure out the rest yourself; I'm just providing inspiration," Yuzuru shrugged.
"But... now that you mention it, Yuzuru-kun, this kind of plot is definitely a hundred times more interesting than a simple romance!" Morishita Yuko picked up her pen again and quickly scribbled in her notebook, muttering to herself, "But, isn't this a bit too dark and gruesome?"
"Then let's add another element, like a love-hate relationship between the male and female leads to balance things out," Yuzuru casually suggested.
"That makes sense!" Yuko Morishita nodded emphatically, her eyes filled with admiration as she looked at Toru Hanyu. "Thank you so much, Hanyu-kun! I'll start writing tonight! I'll show you the first thing I finish!"
"it is good."
Yuzuru smiled and agreed, packed his bag, said goodbye to her, and left the classroom.
Walking home from school, he would occasionally be greeted by female students, whether he knew them or not, who would blush and nod in response. Yuzuru would smile and nod in response.
But his mind was still replaying his conversation with Yuko Morishita, and for a moment he couldn't help but think of Momiji Ooka.
That Miss Hongye had to learn all sorts of knowledge and skills that she might not be interested in after school every day, leaving her with no personal time at all.
Is she really happy?
Yuzuru thought it was not necessarily true.
However, this kind of life is a height that ordinary people can hardly reach in their entire lives.
