Chapter 42 Anesthesia Needle
"We'll go with you." Yuzuru put down his cup and looked at Sakae Yamagishi.
As soon as he finished speaking, Sonoko Suzuki nodded and said, "Let's go, Mr. Yamagishi!"
Yamagishi nodded without saying anything more, then turned and walked out of the coffee shop.
Sakae Yamagishi drove a black Toyota, and when he arrived at the coffee shop, he invited the two of them to get in.
As soon as Toru Hanyu and Sonoko Suzuki settled into their seats in the back, before the car doors were even fully closed, a strong sense of acceleration hit them.
The car shot off like an arrow, its engine emitting a deep roar.
The vehicle sped along and soon entered a high-end apartment complex.
Yamagishi casually tossed the car into the parking space and rushed toward the elevator without even turning off the engine.
Inside the elevator, Yamagishi Sakae's legs were shaking uncontrollably, and his hands were swaying restlessly from side to side, making him look somewhat agitated.
Yuzuru and Sonoko Suzuki exchanged a glance but neither spoke.
Putting yourself in the other person's shoes is indeed quite frightening.
If your most popular artist is suddenly involved in a murder case, it could be a huge blow to their career if not handled properly. Anyone would find it hard to stay calm in that situation.
"Ding~"
The elevator stopped on the 20th floor.
Sakae Yamagishi rushed out quickly, followed closely by Tetsu Habu and Sonoko Suzuki.
However, the three of them stopped as soon as they turned the corner of the corridor.
The apartment door was open, and a man, two women, and a child wearing glasses were standing in the doorway.
Yuzuru was familiar with three of them: Ran Mouri, Conan, and Kogoro Mouri, who had a small mustache and wore a blue suit.
Yamagishi Sakae was clearly not expected to have so many people at the door. He was stunned for a moment, then rushed to Okino Yoko in three steps, grabbed her shoulders and looked her up and down.
He breathed a sigh of relief after confirming that she had no wounds.
"Are you alright, Yoko?"
"I'm fine..." Yoko Okino shook her head, her face pale and her voice trembling slightly.
Yamagishi Sakae nodded, then turned to look at the group of people around her: "Who are they?"
"They are the private investigators I hired," Yoko Okino said, turning to the side to introduce the bearded man beside her. "This is Mr. Kogoro Mouri."
When introduced by his idol, Kogoro Mouri immediately straightened his back and pretended to be completely at ease.
"That's right! I am Kogoro Mouri! I was asked by Ms. Yoko to investigate the strange things happening in her apartment! I never expected to encounter a murder case. What a coincidence."
As Kogoro Mouri spoke, he gestured towards the doorway with his chin.
Following his gaze, everyone saw a man lying face up on the floor in the center of the apartment's living room, with a large pool of dark red blood beneath him, a shocking sight under the lights.
"Yamagishi, who are they?" Yoko Okino noticed Toru Hanyu and Sonoko Suzuki following behind Sakae Yamagishi and asked.
"This is Yuzuru-kun, he's here to help," Yamagishi Ei explained.
He had barely finished speaking when Ran Mouri walked over, looking surprised. "Sonoko? Hanyu-kun? What are you doing here?"
"It's a long story... We were originally talking to Mr. Yamagishi at a coffee shop..." Yu Tetsu explained briefly.
"Ran, do you know this guy?" Kogoro Mouri leaned closer to his daughter, lowered his voice, and quietly sized up Tetsu Hanyu.
"Yes!" Ran Mouri said with a smile, "Hanyu-kun is a top student at our school, he's really amazing!"
Kogoro Mouri remained silent, thinking that this kid was too handsome. For a moment, he even thought he was a celebrity.
"Did you...call the police?"
Just then, Yamagishi Sakae, looking at the corpse in the room, suddenly asked a question.
"Of course I fought!" Kogoro Mouri answered matter-of-factly. "Why?"
"...It's nothing."
Yamagishi Sakae hesitated in his answer, and his expression seemed a little off.
This tiny detail was keenly noticed by Conan, who was standing nearby.
"By the way, Xiaolan, what are you doing here?"
Sonoko Suzuki pulled Ran Mouri aside and asked in a low voice.
"When I got home, I found that my father had received a request from Ms. Yoko..." Ran Mouri lowered her voice and quickly explained the situation, "She said she felt like someone was following her lately, and that things in her house had been touched, so she suspected that a stranger had sneaked in. We went with Ms. Yoko to her apartment to take a look, and as soon as we opened the door... we saw a body lying on the floor."
"I see." Sonoko Suzuki nodded.
"And what about you guys? Why are you with Ms. Yoko's manager?"
Ran Mouri glanced at Sakae Yamagishi not far away, then asked Sonoko Suzuki curiously.
"Well... actually, it's about singing at karaoke last time," Sonoko Suzuki explained with a hint of pride. "Matsusaka posted a video of Hanyu singing online, and it went viral. Mr. Yamagishi saw it and thought Hanyu-kun's singing was really good, so he wanted to invite him to enter the entertainment industry. We were just talking about signing a contract at the coffee shop."
The two weren't talking very loudly. Conan, who was standing nearby, casually moved closer, trying to eavesdrop on what Ran Mouri and Sonoko Suzuki were talking about.
"It's not a good habit for kids to eavesdrop on adults."
A cheerful voice suddenly rang out behind him.
Conan shuddered and turned around abruptly, only to find that Toru Hanyu had somehow appeared behind him, bending over and smiling at him.
"Hahaha... I... I was just a little curious..." Conan awkwardly scratched the back of his head and explained with a smile.
"Really?" Yuzuru didn't call him out on it. Instead, he followed up by asking, "I remember you mentioned during the KTV case that you really enjoyed watching Sherlock Holmes stories. Did you discover anything at the scene this time, little detective?"
He pointed to the body in the living room.
"I...I haven't gone in to take a closer look yet..." Conan said somewhat embarrassedly.
"Then Conan, you'd better do your best~" Yuzuru reached out and gently patted Conan's head, his expression serious. "Why is a famous detective a famous detective? It's because he has a unique perspective on solving cases and an extraordinary keen observation ability. And you, Conan, have all these qualities~ So if you make any special discoveries at the scene this time, Conan, you can tell me. Don't be shy."
"Okay!" Conan nodded vigorously. Although he didn't know why this Yuzuru-san was so enthusiastic about solving the case, he still subconsciously touched the new watch on his wrist.
This is the latest upgraded Pro version of Dr. Agasa's tranquilizer dart launcher, with significantly improved accuracy, range, and penetration.
He made up his mind that once he discovered the crucial clue, he would let this Yuzuru-san experience what it's like to be a famous detective.
This time, we'll have to make do with Uncle Mori a little.
