Chapter 29 The Power of Pepper Spray
"Monk Wu Da, Third Sister Gan, it's you!"
Inside the black-market restaurant, Liu Fugui immediately recognized Wu Da and Gan San Niang and shouted angrily.
This fellow was not at all hesitant. Unlike Zhang Yuanzi, who was so frightened that he rolled backward, this fellow held a much heavier ghost-head knife and chopped it down at Gan San Niang's head.
"Watch out, girl!"
Wu Da shouted and swung his staff to parry, but he didn't expect that there were many henchmen in the black inn's kitchen who reacted quickly and rushed forward with shouts. Some hit his legs, some grabbed his groin, and others parried with knives and pulled his arms, managing to block Wu Da for a while.
Liu Fugui's ghost-head knife came at a great speed, catching Gan San Niang off guard. She had no choice but to grab the handle of the baton with one hand and the end with the other, raising the baton high to block the knife.
"Clang!!!!"
A muffled thud was heard, followed by a burst of sparks.
Gan San Niang felt a sharp pain in her tiger's mouth and numbness in her knuckles.
Liu Fugui had lived in this shady inn at the foot of the mountain for many years, spending his days picking bones and taking meat. He was fat and chubby, and his strength was not small. With the momentum of the heavy ghost head knife coming down from above, the force of this blow was astonishing.
Gan San Niang had been practicing the "Zhen Yue Chan Gong" for half a month, but she still felt somewhat strained when she caught this move.
—This steel baton is good, but it's too light. Now that I've practiced the "Zhenyue Zen Kung Fu," I need a weapon like this ghost-head saber to leverage my momentum. I'll have to ask the immortal master if there's a heavier, more suitable weapon.
Gan San Niang pondered to herself, her eyes gleaming as she looked at the ghost-head knife in Liu Fugui's hand.
But she only admired such weapons, not Liu Fugui's.
Mortal weapons are far inferior to those bestowed by the immortals. Gan San Niang could clearly see that the ghost-headed knife had been chipped open by the steel baton, with the baton embedded in it.
The blade was covered in cracks, spreading out like a spider web.
The difference in strength between the two weapons is obvious at a glance.
The kitchen was cramped and dimly lit. Wu Da, holding a huge monk's staff, couldn't move freely and was attacked from all sides with underhanded tactics. He was caught off guard and unable to escape.
Frustrated beyond measure, he simply abandoned his staff and roared, "Get out of my way!" His fist, as big as a bowl, slammed down on the man in front of him. The man screamed and fell to the ground, creating an opening, which Wu Da then used to break through.
Just as he was about to head towards Gan San Niang to rescue her, he was entangled by the gang of thugs from the black shop. He managed to defeat one or two of them, but it was no use; he couldn't shake them off no matter what.
Seeing this, Liu Fugui smiled smugly, pushed the back of the ghost-head knife with both hands, pressed his entire weight onto the knife, and pressed towards Gan San Niang, saying, "Everyone says that you, Monk Wu Da, are powerful, but I think you're nothing special."
With all my brothers out there, you won't be able to handle me. Watch me deal with this woman, and then my brothers and I will take care of you together."
He spoke with such authority, as if he was certain of victory, but how could Gan San Niang let him exert pressure?
Gan San Niang didn't fight him head-on. She stepped back, flicked her wrist, and pulled the baton back.
She was indeed quite strong now. With this pull, the cracks in the ghost-head knife widened, and it actually broke off completely.
Liu Fugui's eyes lit up, and he shouted, "What a great stick! It's mine! Come here, two of you, help me deal with this woman."
Two of those who were fighting Wu Da broke away and, together with Liu Fugui, who was wielding a broken sword, rushed towards Gan San Niang.
Seeing that the situation was not good, Gan San Niang immediately took out another magic weapon and sprayed a bunch of pepper spray.
Then a hissing sound came from the kitchen, followed by coughing, screams of pain, sneezing, and curses all mixed together.
"Squeak—"
"Squeak—"
The kitchen doors and windows were all open, and someone was lying on the ground inside, looking miserable. It was unclear who had knocked him down in the chaos.
Those who were still able to stand squeezed out from the doors and windows, their eyes red and swollen, their faces contorted and covered in tears.
Wu Da and Gan San Niang were no better off; they were both of average appearance.
Liu Fugui abandoned his weapon and came out. Seeing Gan Sanniang, he angrily shouted, "What a vicious woman... Achoo... What kind of underhanded tricks did you use... Achoo... So wicked!"
Gan San Niang strained her swollen eyes, not bothering to waste words with Liu Fugui. She had been keeping a watchful eye on things and had somehow picked up Wu Da's monk's staff, tossing it towards him and saying, "Brother, catch!"
Wu Da was able to open his eyes a little wider, perhaps because he had already suffered this ordeal once and had become somewhat immune.
He caught the staff, sniffed, and swung it at Liu Fugui.
Liu Fugui heard a whooshing sound and barely saw the head of a Zen staff sweeping towards him. He staggered and fell backward, narrowly avoiding the staff.
"Attack him all at once and kill him!"
He called out in a hurry.
The henchmen who had escaped immediately charged towards Wu Da.
Wu Da laughed loudly, "Are you still in that kitchen? Watch me beat you all to death with a stick!"
The staff swung up and smashed the bones of two henchmen. The rest of the men were so intimidated by its power that they couldn't even get close to it.
Seeing that things were not going well, Liu Fugui tried to run away, but Gan Sanniang arrived with a baton and struck him on the head.
He hurriedly raised his machete to block, but the pepper spray stung his eyes, causing tears to well up and his vision to blur. He forgot that the machete in his hand was only half-broken, and was hit on the head by the baton. His skull caved in, and his eyeballs almost popped out.
Gan San Niang delivered another blow, and Liu Fugui was killed instantly.
In that short time, Wu Da had already killed two of his henchmen with a stick.
However, he was only one person, and the open space around him made it easier for him to swing his cane, but it also made it easier for others to move around nimbly.
After the others had a moment to adjust, they used their superior agility to attack from both sides, causing him to sustain numerous injuries. His monk's robes were torn, the blades crisscrossed, and blood seeped out.
Gan San Niang quickly stepped forward with her staff to help, relieving Wu Da's pressure and preventing him from being attacked from both sides.
With the disturbance from behind gone, Wu Da unleashed his full power, joining forces with Gan San Niang to wipe out most of the remaining henchmen in no time. The one or two who tried to escape were caught up by the two of them and either beaten to death with sticks or clubs.
The sky was clear and the morning sun shone brightly, casting a warm glow on the area outside the black shop, making even the blood on the ground gleam.
Wu Da, panting heavily, said, "Girl, your treasure is really something else. I've fallen for it twice already."
I've never been afraid of anything, and I wouldn't even blink if these bastards slashed me a few times. But the moment you pull out this water cannon, I start to tremble with fear.
"Next time you need to use this thing, please remember to let me know first."
He stood firmly, leaning on his staff, clearly having just finished a fierce battle and expended a great deal of energy.
Gan San Niang was in no better shape, panting heavily, and said with a laugh, "No problem. Brother, we can't stay here any longer. You go and take stock of the goods on that cart, and I'll search around in this shop."
I'll introduce you to the Immortal's Inn later. You can use the goods from the cart as payment for your room and board to get to the Immortal's place.
