"I left that petty thief here earlier..."

The alley was cold and damp, and unlike the brightly lit magic lamps in the East District, Victor could only raise his hand and activate his magic to emit some light.

Using the light, Gar walked into the alley, looked around, and turned back to report:

"Yes, Your Highness, it's right here."

"But it looks like this guy has accomplices... I broke all four of that thief's limbs, so there's no way he could have crawled out of here on his own."

"And Your Highness, look, there are drag marks only in this spot, and then they disappear. This means someone lifted him up, and there are these footprints..." Gar bent over, carefully following the clues in the alley, and quickly determined a direction: "They... they must have taken him this way..."

Victor walked up to the knight, but without stopping, and passed by him:

"Then let's keep going."

"yes!"

Garmai followed.

In reality, in the densely populated Xicheng District, it is indeed not easy to find clues about even a few people.

Firstly, there were simply too many people; secondly, the place was large and chaotic; and finally, as unfamiliar faces from out of town, he and Garr were actually targeted by some gangs shortly after entering the West District.

Victor realized that his apprentice robes might be too conspicuous here, so he took off his wizard robes and put them on inside out.

The effect was immediate.

Before, he could attract the attention of the entire street just by walking by, but since he hid his apprentice robe, not many people have noticed him anymore.

There are still people keeping watch, but even if these rats in the gutter had ten times the courage, they would never dare to cause trouble for a wizard. Sending two people to follow him and praying that no trouble comes to their territory is all they can do!

Viktor realized this as well. In any case, the intelligence efficiency of local people was always better than his and Gar's random searching.

So, at the corner of an alley, the thugs from the "Snake Venom Gang" were about to catch up with the wizard and his henchmen when they found themselves uncontrollably lifted off the ground... and then thrown back down.

Before he could even shout, a long sword gleaming with silver light was already pressed against his neck.

The towering Garr, nearly two meters tall, still exuded a formidable aura even without his armor, not to mention the presence of Victor beside him, who held up a ball of magical energy.

After a moment of confusion, the snake venom gang thug quickly came to terms with reality:

"My lord wizard, please don't kill me! I'll tell you anything!"

Viktor exchanged a surprised glance with Gar, and couldn't help but find it somewhat amusing.

Gar remained cold and aloof, which was his attitude toward everyone except Viktor.

With a slight slash of the cold blade in his hand, the thug felt a light sting on his skin and immediately fell silent. Under the Grand Knight's imposing aura, he began to tremble and breathe rapidly...

Finally, seeing that he had scared the guy enough, Garr asked:

"Are you one of the thugs on this street?"

The thugs of the Snake Venom Gang didn't dare move, but when questioned, they quickly blurted out everything they had to say, fearing that this terrifying guy in front of them would casually slit their throats with a knife.

"Sir, I'm from the Snake Venom Gang..."

"The Snake Venom Gang is the gang that manages these streets. Our boss is called Viper. He comes from Hill City and is said to have been a nobleman. He heard that a wizard was coming to our territory, so he sent me to accompany you two."

"I'm just a lowly underling, I don't know anything else, please, gentlemen, spare me..."

Victor smiled slightly:

"You're quite cooperative... But don't worry, Gar isn't the type to kill, as long as you answer our questions."

The snake venom gang thugs quickly nodded:

"I'll tell you everything I know; I'll tell you everything. I would never dare to hide anything from you!"

Seeing how honest he was, Victor turned and gave Gar a look.

Garr sheathed his longsword, stepped back, and made way for Viktor. Viktor then asked the man:

"Gal and I are looking for a pickpocket."

"He stole something from Garr, so Garr broke all four of his limbs and dumped him in that alley. When Garr got home, he found that something of his was missing."

"But after we found that alley, the pickpocket disappeared... Do you have any clues about the pickpocket?"

"Pickpockets..." The Snake Venom Gang thug spoke without hesitation, "This is Snake Venom Gang territory. Unrelated pickpockets have been kicked out long ago. If you're sure this gentleman lost his things here, then it must have been Little Jack and his gang!"

"Little Jack?"

The Snake Venom Gang thug nodded and spoke resentfully:

"That's right, Wizard, it must have been them!"

"Those bastards are a bunch of orphans from the streets, surviving by stealing... People on the street are very observant; the only ones who would be so foolish as to steal from this gentleman are probably those stupid kids!"

Victor nodded slightly; the clues came faster than he had expected.

"Then, can you help me find these orphans?"

The thug from the Snake Venom Gang was taken aback upon hearing this, then hesitated for a moment:

"This... Wizard, I'm willing to help you... but if I take you to them, that would be breaking the rules of the Snake Venom Gang... I..."

Before he could finish speaking, Garr stepped forward again.

This time, the longsword was pressed directly against the thug's throat, causing him to tremble and freeze in place, swallowing back the words he was about to say.

"Don't be so rough, Garr."

Victor raised his hand, pushing Gar's sword-wielding arm aside, and, seeing Gar's somewhat puzzled look, spoke softly to the Snake Venom Gang thug:

"I'm not the type to act impulsively, but I also hate all the roundabout ways."

"Friend, since you're from the Snake Venom Gang, take me to see your boss... I'll talk to him about the rest."

The thugs from the Snake Venom Gang were taken aback when they heard Victor's words.

But he realized what was happening a second later, nodded without hesitation, and got up from the ground:

"My lord wizard, our boss is drinking at the tavern just two blocks away."

"I'll take you two there right now..."

Viktor was surprised to see him agree so readily. He glanced back at Gar, only to find him nodding at him.

"..."

"Lead the way. Once you see your boss, I won't make things difficult for you."
