The ultimate master in the city
Chapter 92 The Girl Who Choked to Death While Eating Dates
Once ashore, Monk Yuanzhi's martial arts skills proved inadequate. Zhou Fengchen kicked the axe out of his hand and then sent him flying with another kick.
Monk Yuanzhi slid four or five meters along the ground, groaning and whimpering for a long time before finally managing to get up.
Zhou Fengchen didn't have time to argue with him. He opened his Heavenly Eye and looked around. He saw that the female student ghost from the Republican era was leading the ghost fetus lightly into the garden on the left. He quickly chased after them.
There was a path in the garden, at the end of which was a dark old house that looked quite dilapidated. When the female ghost and the ghost fetus arrived at the door, they darted inside.
Zhou Fengchen slowly approached the old house. In the darkness, all he could see was a plaque hanging on the door frame that read: Sanwei Study.
The area in front of the door was overgrown with weeds. Parting the weeds, you could see that the doors and windows were in the style of the Republic of China era, covered with dust and cobwebs.
Pushing open the door, a putrid smell hit you; the room was empty, and the female ghost and the ghost fetus were gone.
Zhou Fengchen made a hand seal and sensed the area. He found that the corner of the room had the heaviest yin energy. He went over and saw a hole in the ground with a staircase leading down into it. It was dark inside and he couldn't see what kind of place it was.
Just as I was wondering how to get down, the door behind me creaked open and a figure entered.
Zhou Fengchen turned his head and saw it was Monk Yuanzhi. He immediately pointed at him and said, "Stand still! I don't want to hit you!"
Monk Yuanzhi seemed to have recovered, scratching his head and saying, "What the hell happened? How did I get here?"
Zhou Fengchen no longer trusted Monk Yuanzhi at all. He opened his Heavenly Eye and saw that Monk Yuanzhi was radiating a yellow light, and he didn't seem to have any problems.
To be honest, Zhou Fengchen hadn't really used his Heavenly Eye to look at humans much. Who would randomly stare at someone for no reason?
"You have the nerve to ask me? That axe of yours was pretty impressive, it almost split my head open!" Zhou Fengchen said, annoyed.
Monk Yuanzhi clapped his hands. "Oh dear! I really don't know what happened. I woke up earlier and didn't see you and Zhang Kang, so I came out to look for them. I kept looking and ended up in this area, but I can't remember anything."
"Alright, I'll reluctantly believe you!" Zhou Fengchen nodded, pointing to the hole in the ground and said, "In the past two days on campus, I've encountered three filthy things. One is a big-eared demon, some kind of weird thing, and then there's this mother and child. The deaths of the twenty-six girls must be related to them."
Monk Yuanzhi glanced down and said, "This is quite mysterious. No doubt about it, capture this mother and child ghosts and torture them severely!"
Zhou Fengchen also had this idea. He asked Monk Yuanzhi to step aside and was about to go down into the cave when a commotion could be faintly heard in the distance, as if something had happened.
"What's going on outside?" Zhou Fengchen asked, startled.
"I'll go check it out." Monk Yuanzhi ran out, and returned a moment later with a changed expression. "Brother, it's over! It looks like someone else has died!"
Zhou Fengchen's heart skipped a beat. He looked at the hole in the ground, then at the outside, filled with immense doubt. "The female ghost and her child are both here. Who killed them?"
Monk Yuanzhi hesitated for a moment, then said, "Could it be the big-eared demon you just mentioned...?"
Zhou Fengchen thought about it and realized it was quite possible. He couldn't care less about the mother and child ghosts anymore. He took out the talismans on his body and saw that they were all wet. So he took out the cinnabar he carried with him and drew a simple "Zhenxie Talisman" on the ground. He then hurriedly left with Monk Yuanzhi.
By then, it was already dawn. Following the sound of the commotion, Zhou Fengchen arrived at the place and had a bad feeling.
Girls' dormitory, Building F!
I've only been gone for a few hours!
At this time, the dormitory entrance was crowded with people, including students and teachers. An ambulance was waiting in front. Soon, a group of people carried a stretcher out of the dormitory building. On the stretcher lay a girl with a purple face, who looked almost dead.
Zhou Fengchen stared blankly at the girl on the stretcher, feeling dizzy and full of questions.
Zhang Qian!
Zhang Kang jokingly introduced her to the girl he was talking to just a few hours ago.
While I was still in a daze, someone patted me on the shoulder.
Zhou Fengchen looked up and saw Sun Jiaoyu and Zhang Kang.
Both men looked displeased. Sun, the education professor, said sternly, "Mr. Zhou! Let's talk in private for a moment."
Zhou Fengchen led Monk Yuanzhi to a secluded spot.
Sun, the education officer, immediately demanded, "Mr. Zhou, I want to know what you're up to! Huh? Tell me! I hired you to catch the ghost, and now another one has died! Huh? What were you doing in the girls' dormitory last night? You ran off in the middle of the night, and a female student got into trouble! Give me an explanation!"
Zhou Fengchen felt extremely embarrassed and guilty. He took a deep breath and asked Zhang Kang, "What happened to Zhang Qian?"
Zhang Kang glanced at Monk Yuanzhi with a blank expression, his face turning pale. He stammered, "After you left last night, I couldn't stay awake any longer and went to sleep. In my half-asleep state, I noticed Zhang Qian opened the door and went out. I didn't think much of it at the time, assuming she went to the bathroom. After a while, she came back and sat at the table in a daze. I wanted to ask her what she was doing, but... I was too sleepy."
"And then?" Zhou Fengchen asked anxiously.
Zhang Kang said, "Later, I was woken up by the noise and found Zhang Qing eating something, laughing foolishly as she ate. I felt strange, so I got up to take a look and found that her eyes were full of whites. She was eating dates on the table. I don't know where she found those dates. I hadn't seen them before."
I sensed something was wrong, so I stopped her from eating and tried to pry her mouth open to make her spit it out. But as soon as I touched her, her face turned purple, she fell to the ground, and then... that's how it happened!
After Zhang Kang finished speaking, Zhou Fengchen suddenly remembered the dates he had snatched from the ghost child, but... why did Zhang Qian go to the old toilet to pick them up and eat them? Why did she do that?
Even if that big-eared demon wanted to kill her, there was no need to do it this way, right?
"Master Monk, tell me what's going on here!" Zhou Fengchen said angrily, "This is completely unreasonable!"
Monk Yuanzhi gave an awkward laugh. "Don't ask me, I don't know either!"
Sun, the education official standing nearby, sighed heavily. "Mr. Zhou! This is a huge problem. If this continues, all the school leaders will be dismissed, and several might even go to jail. Just tell me, do you even have a clue what's going on?"
Zhou Fengchen thought for a moment, then gritted his teeth and said, "Give me one more day, and I'll give you an explanation."
Sun Jiaoyu said, "Explanations are not important; I just hope nothing else goes wrong!"
Zhou Fengchen said, "Okay!"
"This is troublesome!" Sun Jiaoyu nodded and walked away with a dejected look on his face.
By then it was already broad daylight, and the crowd that had gathered in front of the girls' dormitory had dispersed.
Zhou Fengchen and his two companions headed towards the boys' dormitory.
Zhang Kang asked anxiously, "Is there any hope for Zhang Qian?"
Zhou Fengchen replied with a grim face, "It's hopeless. She's already dead. She's in such a state because the poison has reached her heart; even a god couldn't save her!"
Monk Yuanzhi found it strange and asked, "What kind of poison is on those dates?"
"I don't know!" Zhou Fengchen said impatiently, striding forward.
Monk Yuanzhi blinked, his expression strange, and said to Zhang Kang, "My little brother here is quite tired too!"
Zhang Kang suddenly became very afraid of him, stammered an "uh-huh," and followed Zhou Fengchen.
