Sanctuary Starfield Journey
113-13 Star of Finnion
Loamaya spent two happy years, until the year 50. Loamaya had just woken up when she felt the pain in her right hand become more pronounced; after pressing her hand to it, the pain subsided quickly. She looked at the calendar on the wall; she hadn't seen Shi Tu for a long time.
Loamaya was walking in the courtyard below when Loafie told her some good news as she was taking a walk: "We can go out now!" Loamaya was overjoyed, and Loafie took her hand, leading her out of the area for the first time.
It was a plain, and the wind outside was unnatural, but it was refreshingly cool, rustling through the tall, sparse grass, creating ripples on the azure sea, which also affected the shorter grass and trees on one side. Loafi leaned against the nearby bush wall, a phone call coming in. She told Loamaya not to wander off and listened intently. But Loamaya paid no heed, running towards the Mangfeng Mountains.
While listening to the phone call, Luo Afei idly kicked the ground, accidentally kicking away a patch of grass. She immediately kicked it back, compacted it, and looked around to see if anyone had seen her. Fortunately, there was no one around...
"No! Where's Lolo!" Loafei exclaimed, searching everywhere for Loamaya. A question came from the other end of the phone: "Lolo? What Lolo? Is it Loamaya?" Loafei ran behind a tree: "Yes." The voice on the other end continued: "You idiot! Losing such a valuable carrier at such a crucial moment! You have to find it for me, or you can forget about your money." Loafei looked up.
Loamaya looked up at the approaching Mount Mangfeng. "This...this isn't right, is it? Why is it different from what I saw in the book? This mountain looks so fake. Didn't you learn X-ray vision?" She stared at the mountain before her, a hand resting on her shoulder. Loamaya turned around and saw Loafie. She said, "It's time to go back! What if you run off and get lost! Don't you know how worrying that is!" Loamaya's mother was also scolding her son in the same way, dragging him home.
In 1953, after Loamaya celebrated her eighth birthday, she went downstairs with her friends, while Loafie watched from upstairs. Loamaya was puzzled: "Why are I having fewer and fewer friends... There are so many new people, just like in novels, I can't remember them all..." A short while later, Loafie called her back.
Loafei said, "The owners (of this place) said we need to start training now, Lolo, so it can ease the rent." She then bent down and said sincerely, "Those people left because they couldn't afford the rent, there's nothing we can do..." Her eyes welled with tears, and seeing the confusion on Loamaya's face, she confessed, "Actually, things are very chaotic outside. This is a shelter set up by the higher-ups, and the view is just a projection of the outside... I'm sorry, Lolo, I've kept this from you for so long." Loamaya sensed something, and after hearing this, she gave her a hug. Their heads intertwined, unable to see each other clearly, but Loamaya knew everything. Loafei continued, "Lolo fainted before because of the war..." Loamaya made no further move.
For four years, Loamaya trained relentlessly, improving at an extremely rapid pace. However, her right hand would ache every year at the beginning of the year, but the pain was gradually fading; this was probably a benefit of the training.
At 16, Loamaya was about to come of age, and she had been looking forward to this day. Loafi was also...
On an ordinary day, Loamaya went to the Mangfeng Mountains, stroking them as usual, hoping for the day she could leave after the war. Suddenly! Loamaya's mother's son fell from the ladder, being beaten by Loamaya's mother, who had just lost 20 spirit dust gambling. The 100 spirit dust given to her by Finnion were almost gone: 20 spirit dust for a house, bought in full. The remaining 50 spirit dust were gambled away, hoping for a second chance at wealth, but to no avail. Their youngest daughter, whom they had prepared for Finnion, was now 10 years old, working as a prostitute in the morning and doing housework at night. And Loamaya's father? His business failed, he filed for bankruptcy, and now drank 10 spirit dust a day, vomiting everywhere, even knocking over the candles on the table, which fell to the ground and burned.
A burst of fire coalesced, transforming into a fireball that blasted into the area, terrifying Loamaya. A group of people rushed in, and Loafie gestured to Loamaya, asking if she should speak up. Loamaya hid beneath the shattered screen, using it to block the view, watching the ability users rush in and fight, engulfing Loafie in flames. Once all the ability users were inside, Loamaya climbed towards the breached Mangfeng Mountain Range, the exit symbolizing hope.
Looking up, Loamaya's father was found hanged in the house. Loamaya's mother was mainly disgusted by the smell of alcohol and the stench of the corpse, but she also wanted the welfare benefits her father received after his business failed. So she tried to create the illusion that Loamaya's father was still alive.
A user with special abilities stood before Loamaya. She felt a wave of dizziness she hadn't experienced in a long time; she could only see the ground perpendicular to her line of sight, and then she knew nothing more.
Loamaya was awakened by the pain. Opening her eyes, she saw only darkness and could only feel the pain in her right hand, a reminder that she was still alive.
Loamaya was heartbroken. Their home, their only means of survival, was destroyed, and their "mother" had perished in the flames. She held back her tears and tried to move.
"Don't move!" A voice came from beside her, almost touching Loamaya. "You can't move. You are the Star of Fenion, the most suitable recipient of the Star Shards..." She endured the excruciating pain and asked the question she had only dared to ask now: "Loamaya... is also yours..." The mysterious figure remained silent. Loamaya exhausted her last bit of strength and fainted.
When she awoke again, she was in a cage. Loamaya felt as if her body was about to fall apart. Looking around, she spotted Loafie, her eyes as calm as a frozen lake. She understood everything, but… it was all insignificant now.
Loamaya turned 18, during which time she underwent two attempts to fuse with stardust (without affecting synthesis), and she became increasingly suitable as a vessel for stardust. Loamaya's right hand no longer aches.
After all the star fragments had been fused together, Loamaya felt only peace and contentment. She thought this kind of life wasn't bad at all; at least she wasn't being schemed against anymore, and she was already at the mercy of others.
In 63, Bloor's rage reached this point. He saw the girl, said nothing, and simply rescued her, while the fragments of starlight scattered back into the universe.
