When the Busan International Film Festival sent the invitation, Park Ji-yeon was filming in Jeju Island. She didn't call; she sent a text message. Su Yu received the message at the company; it was just one sentence: "CEO Su, 'Quiet Melody' has been nominated. Can you come?" The time and location were attached below.

Su Yu replied with a single word: "Yes."

On the day of the premiere, Su Yu took Cai Xiubin with him. On the high-speed train from Seoul to Busan, Cai Xiubin flipped through the film festival brochure, found the page for Park Ji-yeon's film, and read it aloud. "Quiet Melody, director Kim [name omitted], starring Park Ji-yeon. Synopsis: A blind pianist searches for light in the darkness." She closed the brochure and turned to look at Su Yu. "Did you invest?"

"No. She answered it herself."

"Then why did you come?"

Su Yu looked at her. "She works for the company. If someone from the company is shortlisted, shouldn't the boss be here?"

Cai Xiubin smiled. "It's time."

The red carpet was set up outdoors in Haeundae, Busan. The sky was a bit overcast, and it was windy. The female celebrities, dressed in gowns, were pale with cold. Park Jiyeon wore a black off-the-shoulder dress, her hair was up, and she wore a pair of small pearl earrings. She stood at the end of the red carpet, surrounded by reporters taking pictures, with flashes going off everywhere. When she saw Su Yu and Cai Xiubin walking over, she smiled and waved to them.

Cai Xiubin wore a cream-colored dress with a coat over it. Su Yu wore a black suit without a tie. The three of them posed for a photo on the red carpet, and reporters shouted, "Look this way!" and "Smile!" Park Jiyeon stood to Su Yu's left, and Cai Xiubin to his right. Cai Xiubin had her arm linked with Su Yu's, while Park Jiyeon's hand hung at her side, her fingers slightly curled.

The movie lasted an hour and a half. As the lights dimmed, Cai Xiubin took Su Yu's hand. Park Jiyeon sat in the row in front of them, her back ramrod straight, completely still. On the screen, she had her eyes closed, her fingers slowly gliding across the piano keys. There were no lines, no expression, just her fingers moving. But the entire theater was as quiet as if no one was there.

The movie ended, and the lights came on. The entire audience applauded. Park Jiyeon stood up, turned around, and looked at Su Yu and Cai Xiubin. Her eyes were red, but she didn't cry. Cai Xiubin stood up and hugged her. "Unnie, you acted so well," Park Jiyeon patted Cai Xiubin's back, without saying a word. Su Yu stood beside her, watching Park Jiyeon. "Well done," he said. Park Jiyeon looked at him and smiled. There were a few tears in that smile, but she didn't let them fall.

The celebration banquet was held at a hotel in Haeundae. Park Jiyeon had changed her clothes, wearing a white shirt and black pants, with her hair down. Holding a wine glass, she was pulled by the director to take photos with people, shake hands with representatives of the investors, and chat with reporters. Su Yu stood in a corner, holding a glass of champagne, but barely drank any. Cai Xiubin ate snacks next to her, one after another.

"Are you hungry?" Su Yu asked.

"I didn't eat enough at lunch." Cai Xiubin took another piece. "Aren't you going to eat?"

I'm not hungry.

Park Jiyeon walked through the crowd to Su Yu. She had drunk quite a bit; her face was flushed, but her eyes were still clear. Cai Xiubin said, "Unnie, you guys chat, I'll go get a glass of juice," and turned to leave.

Park Jiyeon paused, watching Chae Soobin's retreating figure. "She's so nice."

Su Yu didn't speak.

"Every time I need to say something to you, she walks away. It's not a coincidence, she does it on purpose." Park Jiyeon looked at Su Yu. "Do you know how good she is?"

"Know."

Park Jiyeon lowered her head, her fingers slowly twirling along the rim of her glass. "Representative Su, thank you for coming today."

"Of course."

"It's not expected," Park Jiyeon looked up. "Many bosses wouldn't come. The fact that you came shows you care." She paused, "It's not about the movie, it's about me."

Su Yu looked at her. "You're an actress in the company. The company cares about every actor."

Park Jiyeon laughed. "You're using the company as a shield again." She took a sip of her drink. "But it's okay. I know what you mean."

Cai Xiubin returned with two glasses of juice. She took one for herself and handed the other to Park Jiyeon. Park Jiyeon took it and smiled. "Xiubin, aren't you tired of being with him?"

"Not tired." Cai Xiubin glanced at Su Yu. "He doesn't talk much, but he's a good person."

Park Jiyeon nodded. "Yes. He doesn't talk much, but he's a good person." She finished her juice. "I'm not drinking anymore, I'll get drunk if I drink any more. You guys should go home early."

Su Yu said "Okay." Cai Xiubin said, "Unnie, treat me to dinner when we get back to Seoul." Park Jiyeon smiled. "Okay."

Stepping out of the hotel, the wind was strong. Cai Xiubin wrapped her coat tighter around herself and took Su Yu's arm.

"What did Jiyeon unnie say to you?"

Say hello.

"this one?"

"She even said she wasn't drunk."

Cai Xiubin laughed. "She's drunk. Every time she drinks too much, she says she's not drunk."

Su Yu didn't reply. The two walked towards the parking lot, the streetlights casting long shadows on them.

"Su Yu".

"Um."

"Does Jiyeon unnie like you?"

Su Yu stopped and looked at her. "Why do you ask that?"

"A woman's intuition."

Su Yu paused for a moment. "She might have had those thoughts before. But not anymore."

How did you know?

"Because the way she looked at you just now didn't show any jealousy."

Cai Xiubin paused for a moment, then laughed. "You could even tell that?"

Su Yu didn't answer, but led her onward. The car stopped at the end of the parking lot, its two taillights glowing in the darkness.

On the high-speed train back, Cai Xiubin fell asleep on Su Yu's shoulder. Her breathing was light, and the corners of her mouth were slightly curved. Su Yu was awake, looking out the window. The night view of Busan receded, and the lights dimmed one by one. He remembered Park Jiyeon saying, "Do you know how good she is?", he remembered the look in Sulli's eyes as she looked at him through the glass in the recording studio, and he remembered Cai Xiubin saying, "I believe in you."

He closed his eyes and leaned back in his seat. The train entered the tunnel, and it was pitch black outside the window. The sound disappeared, leaving only the steady rhythm of the wheels hitting the rails.
