We evil gods must hide.

Chapter 32 The Fallen Priest

"I came to rescue you. I came in through the guild's secret passage. My mentor, Fold, told me. He's already gone."

"That old geezer, really, ugh."

Lin Qi leaned closer, about to speak, when he felt himself enveloped in tenderness.

"Sis, be gentle, you're too strong."

Lina gave the handsome, dark-haired young man in her arms a good squeeze, and only after she had her fill of taking advantage of him did she let go of him. She looked him over carefully and was relieved to find that Lin Qi was unharmed.

"What's the situation now?"

Lin Qi looked around and asked.

"There are a dozen or so adventurers holding the fort, and they're alright for now, but they're running out of food. They estimate they can last for three days."

Lina was somewhat worried.

Seeing that no one was around, Lin Qi spoke very quickly, "I have something important to tell you. Those Fallen Ones are afraid of divine magic. Neil in our team can kill those Fallen Ones instantly with his divine magic. As long as we have enough divine magic scrolls, we can deal with them."

Lina's eyes lit up, and a glimmer of hope appeared on her face.

But then she frowned and said in a low voice, "Divine spell scrolls? The guild's divine spell scrolls are all in the scroll warehouse, but that warehouse is shared with the Temple of Fairness. You can only get in from the Temple of Fairness. There's no entrance from the guild's side."

Lin Qi thought for a moment.

"Then I'll go to the Temple of Justice to get it."

After saying that, he turned and walked out.

Lina quickly grabbed his arm, saying urgently, "No, it's too dangerous! The Temple of Justice is definitely full of Fallen Ones. You can't possibly get in alone. Even if you do, you might not get the scroll; you'll just get yourself killed!"

"Don't worry, I'll just take a look. If I don't have a chance, I won't go in. I'll get you some food."

Lina looked into Lin Qi's determined eyes and knew she couldn't stop him.

"I'll be right back."

She took a deep breath, suddenly stood on tiptoe, and kissed Lin Qi on the cheek. The soft touch of his lips instantly filled her mouth. Seeing Lin Qi's surprised look, she playfully said, "If you don't come back, at least you've been kissed by a woman, right?"

...

A moment later.

Lin Qi appeared at the side entrance of the Temple of Fairness.

He had expected to encounter numerous obstacles upon entering the Temple of Fairness, and he was prepared to use his last memory stripping technique. He had even devised a plan to deal with any unforeseen circumstances.

But the truth is quite the opposite.

The guild area is packed with Fallen Ones; there's barely enough room left.

Meanwhile, this place is completely empty.

He walked to the entrance of the Temple of Justice, gave it a gentle push, and the temple door opened without any resistance. With a creak, the door slowly opened, revealing the mess inside.

Lin Qi paused for a moment, instinctively stopped, and cautiously peeked out to observe the situation inside.

The temple was completely quiet; not a sound could be heard.

At Lynch's feet lay two temple warriors, their faces blurred, but their eyes were wide open, and expressions of fear lingered on their faces, clearly indicating that they had been caught off guard and met with an unexpected attack.

"This is?"

Lin Qi looked at the scattered corrosion marks on the other party's temple armor and felt a sense of familiarity.

Lin Qi frowned and cautiously entered the temple, his footsteps light and as silent as possible. His eyes scanned his surroundings warily, his hand gripping the dagger tightly, ready to deal with any unexpected situation.

The temple was quiet except for the sound of his footsteps.

Just then, he heard a faint prayer coming from the inner room. The voice was hoarse and intermittent, not like a normal prayer, but rather like some strange incantation.

Lin Qi's heart tightened, and he subconsciously slowed his pace, reaching towards the inner room.

The door to the inner room was ajar, leaving a crack through which the prayers were coming from. Lin Qi cautiously approached, gently pushed it open a crack, and peered inside. The sight inside made his pupils shrink, and he instinctively held his breath.

The priest who had once received him and Fiona was kneeling before the altar, his hands clasped together, his head bowed, and he was chanting prayers.

He hesitated for a moment, then leaned against the door and tentatively called out, "High Priest?"

The priest seemed not to hear him and continued his prayer.

Lin Qi had no choice but to walk in, slowly walk around to the other person's side, and then he froze.

The priest's appearance became extremely grotesque—his face was corroded beyond recognition, half of his cheek was ulcerated, revealing dark red flesh and blood inside, one eye had long since disappeared, leaving only an empty eye socket, from which black, foul blood flowed down, and the other eye was also filled with purple blood vessels, his gaze turbid and crazed, and his priest's robes were all torn.

Lin Qi was shocked; he hadn't expected it to be like this.

Seemingly noticing Lin Qi's gaze, the priest suddenly raised his head, his empty eye sockets facing Lin Qi's direction, and let out a piercing roar, the sound so sharp it hurt one's eardrums.

Its only remaining eyeball was spinning wildly.

He abruptly stood up, his body stiff as he lunged at Lin Qi, his corroded, blackened hand, sharp fingers, reaching for Lin Qi's neck, screaming madly, "Evil God! It's the Evil God!"

"Damn it, I'll purify you!"

Lin Qi reacted quickly, instinctively dodging to the side. The priest's hand brushed against his shoulder and grabbed him, his nails scratching his clothes and leaving a deep mark.

pain.

This guy is incredibly strong.

The priest steadied himself, slowly turned around, looked at Lin Qi, a sinister smile appeared on his lips, and began to chant incantations. A sense of unease welled up in Lin Qi's heart.

Divine magic?

No!

"Memory stripping!"

He stared intently into the priest's eyes, and the last vestiges of his faith surged forth, rushing into the priest's mind.

The next second, the priest's movements suddenly froze, the madness in his eyes vanished instantly, replaced by a deep confusion. His body swayed, as if all his strength had been drained, and with a "thud," he fell straight to the ground, motionless.

It worked!

It seems that memory stripping is almost 100% successful when dealing with these degenerates.

The moment the notification sounded.

Lin Qi suddenly clutched his head, his head throbbing with pain, as if countless needles were pricking his temples, or as if countless worms were crawling all over his mind. His vision blurred, and he almost lost his balance.

Memories of the Fair Sacrifice flooded his mind, filled with eerie prayers, the corrosive power of purple divine energy, and familiar, fragmented, primitive, and indescribable images, almost causing Lin Qi to faint.

He squatted on the ground, holding his head in his hands, panting heavily. His forehead was covered in cold sweat, and his face was as pale as paper. It took him a long time to recover.

"Sacrifice is indeed sacrifice; it's different."

He staggered to his feet.

He glanced at the already dead, distorted face of the fair priest, and sighed inwardly.

I stayed at their place for two nights.

Today, I lost my life by my own hand, and I feel somewhat ashamed.

Then, Lynch looked away. The most important thing now was to get the Divine Magic Scroll, go back and save Lina and the people in the guild, as well as Cole and the others who were waiting for him outside.

He slowly stood up, leaned against the wall to steady himself, and walked towards the warehouse.

The warehouse door wasn't locked; it opened with a gentle push.

The moment the door was pushed open, a faint golden light rushed out. The warehouse was filled with all kinds of supplies. The shelves were neatly arranged with divine scrolls, purifying water, weapons and equipment and various alchemy materials, all glittering with gold. They were all obviously good stuff. Even an advanced adventurer who had been venturing in the Misty Forest for many years would be tempted to see these things.

But Lynch was not tempted at all; his goal was clear: the Divine Spell Scroll.

The evil god is never greedy.
