Chapter 12: The Prelude to the First Invasion - Part 1

A Quinjet landed vertically on the deck of an aircraft carrier. The belly hatch opened, and Captain America Steve Rogers, wearing a brown jacket reminiscent of the last century, stepped out of the jet.

He looked around curiously, wanting to see what the differences were between aircraft carriers of this era and those of World War II.

"Why is there only one aircraft carrier?" After looking around, he noticed something was wrong. There was only one aircraft carrier in the nearby waters, which was very unusual.

Upon being awakened, the first thing he learned about was the military equipment of this era. He knew that aircraft carriers of this era also needed to form a battle group before they could be deployed.

"Captain, you'll find out why in a moment." Coulson, who followed his captain off the fighter jet, didn't explain; he wanted to see his idol's surprised expression later.

At that moment, another Quinjet landed on the deck, and then Melinda May, dressed in a black combat suit, led a seemingly uneasy Dr. Banner down.

Nick Fury originally intended to have Natasha, who was on a mission in Russia, invite Dr. Banner, but Patton was Natasha's only bond, and he was worried that Natasha would lose control of her emotions and mess things up after learning of Patton's sacrifice, so he sent Melinda May, who had not yet retired from the front lines, to India instead.

"Long time no see, May. It's a pleasure to see you, Dr. Banner." Coulson led the captain over, shook hands with the two, and introduced the captain to them.

Banner: "Hello Captain, I'm Bruce Banner. I was extremely surprised when they told me you were still alive."

Steve: "Hi Dr. Banner, I heard you can find the Rubik's Cube?"

Banner: "Uh, is that all you're going to listen to?"

Steve: "That's all I care about."

Upon hearing this, Banner smiled sincerely; it had been a long time since anyone had treated him like a monster.

"Deck crew, clear the deck immediately."

At that moment, the broadcast started, and at the same time, a loud sound of machinery turning could be heard from below the edge of the aircraft carrier.

Curious, the two went over to investigate and saw that the seawater beside the boat was boiling, and two huge fan engines were rising from underwater.

"What is this?" Steve asked Coulson, who smiled but didn't answer. Steve had no choice but to continue looking.

Soon, the two fan engines on each side of the ship rose to their designated positions and began to spin rapidly. The powerful winds whipped up huge waves, and the massive aircraft carrier slowly lifted off the water and took flight.

Steve and Coulson were astonished to see the aircraft carrier take flight. Only then did Coulson introduce it, saying, "This is S.H.I.E.L.D.'s second-generation aircraft carrier, a real aircraft carrier."

Steve: "No wonder you don't need an escort fleet. Who built it?"

Coulson: "We at S.H.I.E.L.D. built it ourselves; only the flight system used Stark's technology."

Steve: "That's amazing. Does the US have an aircraft carrier like that?"

Coulson: "There's only this one right now."

Melinda warned, "Everyone, we should go to the bridge. We won't be able to breathe here any longer."

The four walked toward the bridge. When they were almost there, Steve suddenly stopped, turned around, and looked up at the western sky.

"What's wrong, Captain?" Coulson and the other two stopped in confusion, and when they saw Steve's actions, they looked up in the direction he was looking.

A golden streak of light was flying at an extremely terrifying speed in the distant western sky, and judging from its trajectory, it was heading towards the aircraft carrier.

"Was that a meteor or a missile?" Banner was a little flustered. He wasn't worried about himself, but rather about Hulk getting agitated and running out to wreak havoc.

"That must be the healer," Coulson guessed, noticing that the aircraft carrier's air raid sirens hadn't sounded. He had witnessed Vega's flight the previous night.

"A therapist?" Banner looked on with anticipation. The main reason he was willing to come here was that Melinda told him that the therapist Vega Lee might have a way to help him control the Hulk.

"Can he still fly?" Steve had never met Vega before. Coulson had told him about the amazing Vega on the plane, so he was very curious about him.

That golden streak was indeed Vega. Having received the assembly notice, he left the barren mountain that had been razed to the ground and flew directly over.

Vega began to slow down ten thousand meters away from the aircraft carrier, then lightly landed in front of the four people, folded his wings, and transformed his silver armor into a white robe: "Good morning. Someone told me there's free breakfast here, is that true?"

Coulson laughed: "Of course it's true. What would you like to eat? I'll tell the kitchen to make it for you right away."

Vega: "Is there a chef from Tokyo University?"

Melinda: "No, if you really want to eat it, I can make it for you."

"Fine, just give me two hamburgers." Vega wasn't too keen on Melinda. He extended his right hand to greet Steve and Banner: "It's nice to meet you, Captain, and it's nice to meet you, Dr. Banner. I'm Vega Lee. You can call me Lee."

Steve: "Good morning, Lee. Your wings and armor are very beautiful."

Vega: "Thank you."

Banner: "Hi Lee, the people at S.H.I.E.L.D. said you could help me control the Hulk, is that true?"

“I can’t control that big green thing,” Vega shook his head, and before Banner could show any disappointment, he continued, “but I have a way to calm you down.”

Banner was overjoyed: "Really?"

"Let's go inside and talk," Vega suggested as the aircraft carrier continued to climb, the wind around them grew stronger, and breathing became increasingly difficult.

Inside the bridge, dozens of agents were busy at their respective posts, controlling the aircraft carrier's ascent. Coulson consulted with One-Armed, One-Eyed, Cloaked, and Braised Egg Man, who was standing on the command platform, and then led the three of them to an empty conference room.

After everyone was seated, Vega took off a string of crystal-clear white beads from his wrist and introduced them, saying, "This string of beads can keep your mind clear and keep your emotions within a safe threshold."

Of course, if you're in mortal danger, that big guy will still come out.

Hearing that the Hulk could still emerge, Banner frowned and asked, "Isn't there any way to eliminate the Hulk? It's too dangerous."

Vega shook his head: "I have studied your situation in detail. Because you cannot control that powerful force, your subconscious and your body's survival instinct gave birth to the Hulk."

You are one with it. Don't reject it. Try to communicate with it and try to control that power.

Once you fully control that power, Hulk will reunite with you. That's the real solution; rejection and suppression will only make things worse.
