Unreliable Sword Immortal.

"The teleportation jade talisman of the Hongtian Treasure..."

Lu Chao held a sword-shaped jade piece in his hand. He believed that this jade piece was a very powerful tool. After all, he had only obtained this one decent piece of loot after killing two level 120 bosses who were no weaker than the Eight Desolate Sword Gods.

Using this jade piece is quite simple; just crush it, and Lu Chaoding will be instantly teleported to the Eight Desolate Treasure Realm.

However, the most important thing right now is not to go to the Eight Desolate Realms, but to resurrect the twenty-seven fallen ladies.

"I teamed up with a hundred ladies, and in the end, we still had to sacrifice twenty-seven of them to win. This pair of sword immortals are quite formidable. I don't know their exact identities or origins, but they must be extremely powerful characters. I guess I got through this time by sheer luck. I'll have to be more careful in the future..."

Lu Chaoding was also worried about being punished by the system of Hongchen Sword Realm, but the unreliable system was bound to him and he couldn't get out of the trap. Unknowingly, he had embarked on a path of no return.

"It's foreseeable that there will be even stronger law enforcement agencies to punish me in the future. The punishers may fail countless times, but if I fail even once, I'll probably be doomed. An unreliable system can't guarantee my safety every time. The key is still myself. Right now, I should play it safe. First, I should try to avoid serious cheating, and second, I should work hard to improve my own strength..."

Lu Chaoding silently made a summary.

A moment later, Lu Chaoding arrived at the Hall of Heroes.

Under the adoring gaze of Xiang Ruyan, the Peach Blossom Sword God, Lu Chaoding spent a large amount of gold and materials to revive all twenty-seven fallen ladies.

After these twenty-seven people were resurrected, their cultivation level dropped by one major realm, and their level all fell to level 30. Fortunately, there was no realm barrier, so they can raise their level back later.

Lu Chao gave all the cultivation pills he had previously stored to the twenty-seventh lady, and even summoned some wild monsters to use the pill-condensing technique to condense a large number of Treasure Dragon Pills for them.

Two days later, all twenty-seven sect leaders' wives reached level 61, thus returning to the extraordinary realm.

At this moment, Lu Chao crushed the [Teleportation Jade Talisman of Hongtian Treasure], and his vision was immediately enveloped in white light. In the blink of an eye, he arrived in a chaotic space.

It is called a chaotic space because there is no heaven and earth, no sun and moon, no mountains and trees, only a dark yellow light mist. Lu Chao is in the light mist, in a state of weightlessness and suspension, and in his field of vision, there is a huge alchemy furnace as big as a mountain.

This alchemy furnace is probably the only thing in the Hongtian Treasure Secret Realm. It has four legs, is dark blue in color, and is shaped like a gourd with a lid on top. The lid is hollowed out, from which smoke rises.

"Isn't this a treasure trove? Where's the treasure? Why is there only a pill furnace?"

Lu Chaoding muttered something to himself, and after carefully observing his surroundings, he piloted the Great Xuan Ship towards the enormous pill furnace. The flight took a full three hours. The pill furnace was larger and farther than Lu Chaoding had imagined. When he arrived in front of the pill furnace, Lu Chaoding was shocked. He estimated that the height of the pill furnace might exceed ten thousand meters.

Such a huge alchemy furnace reminded him of the enormous Heavenly Demon Palace in the Heavenly Demon Secret Realm.

He had already silently compared this Hongtian Secret Realm with the Heavenly Demon Secret Realm.

"What kind of treasure is this alchemy furnace? How can it be so huge? Is the treasure inside the furnace, or is it the treasure itself?"

Lu Chaoding recalled his gains in the Heavenly Demon Palace and was filled with anticipation. After muttering something to himself, he immediately began to study the huge pill furnace.

A moment later, the lid of the huge alchemy furnace suddenly opened, and a huge suction force burst forth, pulling the unsuspecting Lu Chao inside.

"Ding! You have entered the Universe Furnace!"

Lu Chaoding heard the system notification and felt quite bewildered.

"The Universe Furnace? That name..."

Lu Chaoding muttered to himself. He found himself entering another layer of chaotic space, with no top or bottom in sight. He was floating there. In the center of this chaotic space was a ball of light, and there seemed to be a human figure on the ball. Just as Lu Chaoding was about to approach the ball of light to see what it was, a strange voice suddenly rang out.

"Welcome to my treasure room!"

It was a female voice, clearly coming from the sphere of light.

Lu Chao frowned and tentatively asked the ball of light, "Who are you?"

"My name is Li Hongtian!" a voice came from the sphere of light.

"Li Hongtian? You are the master of this secret realm!"

"Yes!"

"I've entered your secret realm, you don't want to kill me, do you?"

"No, I welcome you. In fact, I'm very happy to see live players!"

"A living player?" Lu Chaoding was startled when he heard Li Hongtian say that. He frowned, pondered for a dozen seconds, and then asked again, "You said a player... Could it be that you are an awakened NPC?"

"Of course not!" Li Hongtian's voice suddenly carried a hint of melancholy. "Actually, I used to be a player too. My home planet was Mars. Alas, time is merciless. I've been trapped here for about forty thousand years, and I have no idea what the outside world looks like now. My friend, did you manage to get here because you killed my two apprentices?"

When Lu Chaoding heard Li Hongtian's words, he felt as if a thunderbolt had exploded in his head.

What's going on?

Martian players?

Have they been trapped here for 40,000 years?

Is this true or false?

Lu Chaoding felt a chill run down his spine and remained silent for a while before continuing, "You mean, Xuan Qingtian and Ni Caihuang are your disciples?"

"Yes, did you kill them? That should be right. If you hadn't killed them, you definitely wouldn't have gotten the teleportation jade talisman, and you wouldn't have been able to come here. Don't be afraid. Although I am their nominal master, that's a setting imposed by the system. In reality, I have no feelings for the two of them, so I won't seek revenge on you."

"Hmm..." Lu Chao felt slightly relieved, then asked, "So, what exactly is your identity?"

"As for me... according to the current setting, I should be one of the Primordial Sword Immortals, the Primordial Sword Immortal!"

"The Primordial Sword Immortal!" Lu Chao was once again shaken, and a strong sense of curiosity arose within him. "You said you've been trapped here for forty thousand years?"

"yes!"

Why are you trapped here?

"He cheated too much and got caught by the system!"

The voice emanating from the sphere of light was understated, but upon hearing it, Lu Chao immediately conjured up countless associations. He asked, "Too ruthless cheating? What do you mean?"

"You want to know? Fine, I'll tell you! Back in the day, I had a cheat program that occasionally failed the system. This system was incredibly powerful; it could alter quests. I made my fortune and reached the pinnacle of the gaming world using this system..."

"Wait a minute, what system! It occasionally fails to rely on the system and can tamper with tasks? This, this..."

Lu Chaoding couldn't help but interrupt Li Hongtian. His mind was in turmoil, and he thought to himself, "How come that occasionally unreliable system is almost the same as my occasionally unreliable system? Could it be that they are the same system?"

"What's wrong? Is there a question?" Li Hongtian asked.

"No, please continue!"

"Alright, it's been far too long since anyone's talked to me, so I'll tell you about my heroic deeds. Back in the day, with the system's assistance, I was truly unbeatable. You know, I once single-handedly wiped out an entire realm—a coalition of thirty major guilds and over a million players—I wiped them all out..."

"Stop, senior. A hero doesn't dwell on past glories. Tell me how you messed up?"

"How did it all go wrong? Wasn't it because the cheating was too blatant? Is there still a Heavenly Fate Platform outside? Can you still participate in the lottery?"

"Sure!"

What's the highest-tier item you've ever won in a lottery? Have you ever won a five-star item?

"I did extract some, but not much!" Lu Chaoding answered truthfully.

Li Hongtian chuckled and said, "Back then, I could directly draw six-star items. Six-star items, have you ever seen one? Hehe, but it was precisely because of this that the system punished me. Every time I drew five or six six-star items in a row, enforcers would descend! Do you know what enforcers are? They're NPC assassins that the system directly sent out to punish me! At first, I wasn't afraid of them. I killed them one by one, two by two. I was invincible, fearless in a head-on fight. But later, the system showed no martial ethics and suppressed me..."

"Why don't you talk about martial ethics?" Lu Chaoding quickly asked.

"Why are you asking such detailed questions? Are you afraid of being sanctioned by the system?"

"I'm just curious, senior, please tell me about it, so I can broaden my horizons!"

"Okay!" Li Hongtian was very talkative and continued, "That old rascal system set me up. It gave me a timed mission with a generous reward if I completed it, but if I didn't, I would die! But the system was unreliable and made a stupid mistake. It changed the mission so that I would die if I completed it or not. As soon as the mission was changed, I died. And once I died, I was doomed. The system turned my Hongtian Cave into a treasure secret realm, and I'm imprisoned here indefinitely."

"Such a thing actually happened?"

Lu Chao was stunned for a moment.

Li Hongtian sighed, "Alas, success is unreliable, failure is unreliable, let's not talk about it anymore..."

Lu Chaoding jolted awake and asked again, "Senior, is your system, which occasionally fails to work, still active?"

"It ran away a long time ago! It disappeared the moment the system locked my account! It's so unreliable!"

Li Hongtian's tone was full of resentment, which made Lu Chaoding uneasy. He slapped his thigh and thought to himself, "Could it be that the 'occasionally unreliable system' is actually the 'occasionally unreliable system,' changed its name, and ended up on my person? Will I also get a tampering mission where I'm doomed no matter what...?"

Li Hongtian's voice rang out again: "Let's not talk about that. Let's get serious. Kid, since you've come here, according to the system settings, I have to give you a chance. Tell me, what do you want? Do you want a Grand Luo Sword Immortal's class change certificate? I also have a Primordial Sword Immortal's class change certificate. I'm the Ancestral Sword Immortal, and I can change most of the hidden classes of sword immortals for you! I also have many high-level sword immortal weapons here, but of course, I don't have any six-star ones. Just tell me what you want. As a fellow player, I'll definitely take care of you!"

Lu Chao snapped out of his daze. He wasn't concerned with any kind of opportunity at the moment. After thinking for a moment, he continued to ask, "Senior, is there no possibility of liberation for you?"

"Liberation? Of course it's possible! Why would I be spouting nonsense here if it weren't? You are my hope for liberation!"

"Um?"

"Little friend, listen to me. The system has added a character setting and storyline to me. Now I am one of the Primordial Sword Immortals. I'm giving you a mission. After you complete it, my mission storyline will advance. Although you can't escape the system's constraints, you can leave this damned place and return to the martial world!"

"What mission?"

"This task isn't actually that difficult. Once you receive it, all you need to do is bring the Hongchen Immortal Sword from the Hongchen Sword Sect, and a crack will appear in this secret realm. Then, according to the plot, I can escape."

"Hongchen Sword Sect, Hongchen Immortal Sword?"

"Yes, the Hongchen Immortal Sword is a six-star weapon, usually wielded by the sect leader. You were able to defeat Xuan Qingtian and Ni Caihuang, so your strength must be considerable. A sneak attack or something to defeat the Hongchen Sword Sect Master and seize the Hongchen Immortal Sword shouldn't be too difficult. Since we've come this far, I'll assign you the mission..."

Li Hongtian rambled on for a while, and then Lu Chaoding received a system notification: "Ding, the Primordial Sword Immortal Li Hongtian has issued you the story quest 'Immortal Sword Shatters the Universe'. Carry the Hongchen Immortal Sword and use it to destroy the Universe Furnace. After completing the quest, the Primordial Sword Immortal will be reborn, and you will gain favor with the Primordial Sword Immortal Li Hongtian, as well as fragments of the Universe Furnace. Note: This is a unique quest. Do you accept it?"

"accept!"

"Ding! The occasionally unreliable system has activated, updating the tracking mission with altered content: Carry the Hongchen Immortal Sword and use it to destroy the Qiankun Universe Furnace. After completing the mission, the Ancestral Sword Immortal will not reappear, and you will not be able to gain the favor of the Ancestral Sword Immortal Li Hongtian, nor will you be able to obtain the fragments of the Qiankun Universe Furnace!"

Lu Chaoding heard the system notification and was stunned.

Li Hongtian, who was on the other side, also seemed stunned.

After a long while, Lu Chao gave an awkward smile and said, "Look at the mess this has made, what can I say?"

"Holy shit!" Li Hongtian roared, "What the hell is going on with this mission? It's unreliable sometimes, isn't it? You son of a bitch, you've tampered with the mission! You've destroyed my only hope of escaping! I'll haunt you even in death! You piece of trash system, you'll always be trash!"

Lu Chao retorted, "Senior, you also received the system notification?"

"You bastard! You're actually the unreliable new host of this system!" Li Hongtian cried out. "I can only issue this mission once. I'm so miserable, I'm doomed, there's no hope for me anymore, I'm just too unlucky..."

"Senior, don't be sad. Perhaps there's another way to get you out of this predicament!" Lu Chao rubbed his hands together. "How about we talk about opportunities now? Do you have any items here that can directly boost attribute values to the threshold of a realm? If so, could you give them to me?" (End of Chapter)
