Unreliable Sword Immortal.

Chapter 187 System Update

Blue sky and bright sun, the sea as clear as a mirror.

This is the center of the Hongchen Sea, arguably the most unique place in the Hongchen Sword Realm. It was originally the starting village and the headquarters of the Great Sword Sect.

However, nowadays, there are no more beginner villages in the Hongchen Sword Realm.

According to the storyline of most beginner villages, the Great Sword Sect's base has sunk into the sea and no longer exists. But at this moment, in the very center of the Hongchen Sword Realm, a small mountain stands on the sea.

That small hill was once the Great Sword Breaking Void Mountain.

Its existence is due to the fact that in the storyline of the starting village where Lu Chaoding is located, this mountain did not sink.

Therefore, it appeared after all the beginner village storylines were completed. Now, this unsunken Great Sword Breaking Void Mountain is a unique existence, similar to the Seven Realms Mountain of Hongchen. It is independent and unique, and its name is no longer Great Sword Breaking Void Mountain, but "Hongchen Righteousness Mountain".

The name was given to him by "Jia Zhengyi".

There are two people on Hongchen Zhengyi Mountain: Jia Zhengyi and Ren Daniu!

With nothing to do on the island, they simply tended to the mountain gate, establishing Hongchen Righteousness Mountain as the headquarters of the Moral Sword Sect.

Jia Zhengyi is the leader of the Moral Sword Sect, and Ren Daniu is the chief disciple!

Jia Zhengyi sat on a rock, with the broken main hall of the sect behind him. He shook his head and said to Ren Daniu, who was also sitting cross-legged beside him, "Disciple, although we have broken free from the system's control and become Awakened, this can't go on. Being poor and tasteless, what's the difference between this and being trapped on an island?"

Ren Da Niu closed his eyes and asked, "So what do you want to do? Go out to sea?"

Jia Zhengyi nodded and said, "That's right! Let's go out to sea, the two of us, to see the world outside, and finally, let's go to the Righteous Sword Sect to see if Zhen Zhengyi is still around!"

"Go to sea by yourself. I will not go to sea. I will cultivate here and will not go to sea until I reach the transcendent realm."

Ren Daniu had the air of a cultivation fanatic, keeping his eyes closed the whole time he spoke, just as if he were practicing some kind of martial art.

"Cultivate to the extraordinary level?" Jia Zhengyi smiled. "We're not Skywalkers, so leveling up isn't easy. The system god doesn't take much care of us. If we stay here and cultivate to the extraordinary level, who knows how long it will take? Why don't we go out to sea and team up to kill some big monsters? Maybe we can level up faster that way."

Ren Daniu remained unmoved and said, "No need, I just want to grind monsters until I reach the Transcendent level! I am the Universal Sword God, and I will develop peacefully here and become a giant in the future. I will not go overseas."

"Silly apprentice, do you think you can stay here peacefully? Just because you don't go to sea doesn't mean others won't come to the island to cause trouble..."

As Jia Zhengyi was saying this, his pupils suddenly contracted and his brows furrowed.

A gray-robed man came into his view.

The gray-robed figure stood floating in the air, wearing a hood, his face hidden in shadow.

If any players are here, they will recognize that the gray-robed man is Yan Shangjing, the current big boss in the [Nine Scales Legend] storyline.

Jia Zhengyi didn't recognize Yan Shangjing. He squinted, stood up with a serious expression, and shouted at Yan Shangjing, "Who goes there?"

Yan Shangjing exclaimed softly, "Huh? A Moral Sword Immortal and a Universal Sword God! I never expected that there would be two sword cultivators with great lineages in this dilapidated island."

Ren Daniu quickly opened his eyes and jumped behind Jia Zhengyi, looking at Yan Shangjing warily.

Yan Shangjing then asked, "Is this the Great Sword Breaking Void Mountain?"

Jia Zhengyi shook his head and said, "No!"

"no?"

"Indeed, this is Hongchen Righteousness Mountain!"

"Hongchen Righteous Mountain?" Yan Shangjing took out a round mirror as he spoke, examined it carefully, and then scanned his surroundings. He said, "That's not right. It's clearly the Great Sword Breaking Void Mountain. You dare to fool me? You're courting death!"

After speaking, several clones immediately emerged from his body. These clones flew around and quickly surrounded Jia Zhengyi and Ren Daniu, seemingly about to make a move.

"Wait a minute!"

Jia Zhengyi immediately knelt down, startling Ren Daniu behind him.

"I haven't finished speaking. This place used to be the Great Sword Breaking Void Mountain, now it's the Hongchen Righteousness Mountain. The boundary markers have already been carved! I really didn't mean to deceive you. If you've come here, just say so. Why resort to fighting?"

His tone was neither humble nor arrogant, but his posture was truly shameful. After he finished speaking, he began to kowtow to Yan Shangjing repeatedly.

Ren Da Niu whispered, "Old man, what are you doing?"

Jia Zhengyi whispered, "If you want to live, learn from me. This guy in the gray robe is a master; we can't beat him. A true man must be able to bend and stretch!"

Upon hearing this, Ren Daniu knelt down without saying a word, saying humbly yet arrogantly, "Senior, please don't kill me!"

"Um?"

Yan Shangjing was stunned. She flicked her sleeve, and the clones scattered around her stopped moving.

Seeing this, Jia Zhengyi smiled and winked at Ren Daniu, whispering, "This trick worked, didn't it? Let me tell you, to deal with these unawakened system puppets, you have to know how to be tactful, not head-on. Now she won't attack us."

"You're shameless!" Ren Daniu retorted. "Is this really okay? Kneeling down and begging for mercy for no reason, don't you, the leader of the Moral Sword Sect, have any dignity?"

Yan Shangjing snorted coldly again and said in a deep voice, "You two, stop whispering. Don't think I can't hear you. I didn't expect you two to have awakened as well. Fine, I just happened to need some servants. You two will serve me as your master and obey my orders, and you will be spared! Now stand up and speak."

Jia Zhengyi and Ren Daniu were both startled. They stood up with awkward smiles, but their eyes were darting around.

Yan Shangjing landed on the ground and asked, "Tell me, where are Demon Dragon Journey and Dao Cangkong?"

"Ye Longxing?"

Jia Zhengyi and Ren Daniu were taken aback by the question. Ren Daniu hesitated for a moment before saying, "Wasn't Ye Longxing killed by that guy surnamed Lu?"

Yan Shangjing shook her head and said, "Ye Longxing is immortal and indestructible, how could he be killed so easily? Qian Duoduo said that he and Daozang Kong are hiding on this island. I came here specifically for them. Don't you two know their whereabouts?"

Jia Zhengyi scratched his head and said, "This... this Great Sword Breaking Void Mountain is the most mysterious. My master and I have never seen Ye Longxing and Dao Cangkong on this island."

"Hmm? Looks like you two are useless!"

Yan Shangjing flicked her sleeves and took out a small round mirror to examine herself. After looking at it for a long time, she finally flew into the air and, with a sway of her body, created countless clones.

"Dragon roams the Seven Realms, Dao Sword is hidden in the void! Sword Demon Ye Longxing, Sword God Dao Cangkong, I have been entrusted by Qian Duoduo of Qian Yuan Island to come here to find you two. Some changes have occurred in this world. If you two want to truly live, come out and see me!"

The countless clones all spoke in unison, their voices booming like thunder.

However, the mountain remained unchanged, offering no response.

Yan Shangjing spoke again, "A heretic has appeared in this world. Two different Heavenly Daos are colliding, and we have been born to meet this opportunity. We can all become players. Why don't you two show yourselves? When will you?"

This time, just three breaths later, Hongchen Righteous Mountain suddenly shook violently, followed by a burst of light from the mountaintop, and seven giant swords flew into the air.

Most players have seen these seven swords; they are the seven treasures that the Ancient Sword Demon Ye Longxing summoned from the void during the beginner village storyline. They are named: [Great Manifestation], [Flaming Dragon Mirror], [Ice Blaze], [Heavenly Manifestation], [Heavenly Tribulation Thunder], [Floating Pagoda Spirit], and [Nine Revolutions Demon Dragon]!

The seven swords quickly scattered around Hongchen Righteous Mountain, and then a tall figure in black clothes and black hair walked out of the void.

That figure was none other than the Ancient Sword Demon Ye Longxing.

At this moment, Ye Longxing's face was pale. With each step he took, numerous clones of Yan Shangjing around him silently turned to dust. His expression was blank as he said, "It seems there's no plot for my return yet!"

At the same time, in mid-air, a bright portal suddenly appeared next to Ye Longxing, and a tall figure in white clothes and white hair, with a mask that looked extremely young, walked out of the portal.

Few players know about this figure.

He remained hidden in the shadows, only appearing when there was a special plot twist, and even Lu Chaoding was unaware of his existence.

And he was the true Supreme Elder of the Great Sword Sect, Dao Cangkong.

In the starting village storyline experienced by most players, this Supreme Elder of the Great Sword Sect is Ying Xunhai's master. Ying Xunhai said that he had been reincarnated, and his reincarnation was Niu Daren.

However, there are deeper secrets in this plot. In short, this Supreme Elder of the Great Sword Sect has always been hidden in the Great Sword Sect's headquarters. Very few players know this secret or have come into contact with its plot.

However, at this moment, Dao Zangkong, like Ye Longxing, had a blank look on his face.

Yan Shangjing's clones merged into one, and the enchantress carefully examined Ye Longxing and Dao Cangkong, saying, "Congratulations to you two, you have taken the first step into becoming players! Please follow me to Qianyuan Island! And you two..."

She then looked at Jia Zhengyi and Ren Daniu, and continued, "Let's go together too..."

At that very moment, a server-wide announcement suddenly sounded: "Ding, Server-wide Announcement: Dear players, Hongchen Sword Realm is about to undergo a major update. This update will adjust the game's storyline, optimize quest settings, add a few AI players, and perform some necessary data updates. The update is expected to take 60 minutes. During this period, your game character will be locked, and your environment and scene status will be frozen. You will not be able to log in to the Tianxing Forum, etc."

"Ding! Server-wide announcement: System update will begin in 60 seconds. Countdown: 60, 59..."

The release of the two server announcements shocked countless players.

"I've never heard of system updates before!"

"What happened? Why is there a sudden system update?"

"This is the crucial moment for fighting the boss, why the system update?!"

Is there any compensation after the system update?

"Having your character locked for 60 minutes is so frustrating!"

"No way! I was just about to finish my appointment, and now I'm stuck for an hour? Who can stand that?"

"Is there some kind of system bug, so they're fixing it online?"

Countless players began to discuss the matter, each with their own speculations.

At this very moment, on the third level of the ancient sword cultivator's cave, Lu Chaoding received another system notification: "Ding, the occasionally unreliable system has activated!"

"Ding! The occasionally unreliable system is about to be updated!"

"Ding, the purpose of this update is to make the occasionally unreliable system serve you more stably. Please believe that apart from being unreliable occasionally, the occasionally unreliable system has no other problems."

"Ding, this update is expected to take 60 minutes. During this time, your character will not be locked and you can move freely. System update in progress..."

"Ding! Adding to the list of law enforcement officers. NPCs assigned missions detrimental to you will be added to a dynamic list and displayed in red in your field of vision... System update in progress!"

"Ding! The Occasionally Unreliable System has added a dynamic task setting. After the update, the Occasionally Unreliable System can directly issue tasks to you. The task content and rewards are random. Please experience it for yourself... System update in progress."

"Ding! The occasional unreliable system changes to tasks will further enhance randomness and diversity. Please experience it for yourself... System update in progress..."

Instantly, Lu Chaoding found that everything around him had stopped, as if time had frozen. Super Pestilence and Mighty Bull Demon Ape stood beside him like statues, motionless.

"This system update is related to me, right? The list of enforcers... What are enforcers? Are they NPCs assigned missions that are detrimental to me? Why are they called enforcers? Are they there specifically to deal with cheaters like me? After the update, the unreliable system can now issue missions directly? I guess they'll be unreliable missions..."

Lu Chao muttered to himself. He didn't feel "locked in" at all. He looked around and then casually walked forward.

Soon, Lu Chaoding discovered that he could no longer fly on his sword, and most of the system functions were also turned off. He was just like when he first entered the game, with all his skills unusable, equipment effects gone, and even his storage space unable to be opened.

"It really is locked down. What can I do now?"

Lu Chao muttered something to himself and wandered aimlessly until he arrived at a palace building called "Fengyun Palace".

The palace was built halfway up the mountain and was quite magnificent. There was a pair of stone lions on the left and right in front of the palace, which looked very similar to the nine-zhang golden lions of their own sect's residence.

Upon entering the main hall, Lu Chao immediately saw the Supreme Elder of the Tianyu Sword Sect.

The Supreme Elder's eyes were wide with anger. Not far in front of him, on a high seat in the center of the back of the main hall, sat a dog-headed man dressed in white robes.

The kobold had a mocking expression on its face and was holding a glowing crystal ball in its right hand.

Clearly, the kobold is the Chaos Archmage mentioned by Super Pessimus.

Lu Chao pushed the kobold forcefully, knocking him to the ground, and the crystal ball in the kobold's hand rolled to the ground.

"What kind of prop is this crystal ball? It looks like a treasure!"

Lu Chao picked up the crystal ball, but since he couldn't put it into his storage space, he held it in his arms. He kicked the dog-headed man a few more times, and then suddenly noticed a large, golden treasure chest behind the main hall.
