Chapter 39 Red Long Johns

Zi Yue nodded slightly, her gaze falling on the armor. She also felt that it suited Li Yi's tall and upright figure very well, so she said to the shop assistant, "Take it off and let him try it on."

Li Yi carried his battle suit into the inner room. A short while later, he pushed open the door and came out. Zi Yue subconsciously looked up and her gaze was instantly fixed on him.

The young man was dressed in a full suit of black gold armor. The gilded patterns on his shoulder armor shimmered with a cold luster under the light, making his broad shoulders and narrow waist appear even more striking, and his posture as upright as a pine tree.

The breastplate clung to his body, outlining the chest of the young man, whose youthful innocence had not yet completely faded, but whose shape was already beginning to take shape; the gilded belt around his waist bound his battle armor, making his figure appear even taller; beneath the hem, the silver-white battle skirt swayed gently with his steps, making his gait appear steady, and his whole body exuded a unique sharpness of a young cultivator.

His long hair was simply tied up, with stray hairs swaying slightly with his movements. His already handsome features were now accentuated by the armor, giving him an even more sharp and heroic air. His originally calm eyes now seemed to be ignited by the armor's sharpness, shining with an astonishing brightness.

Looking at him, Zi Yue felt her heart beat faster, and a faint blush crept onto her cool cheeks. Her throat tightened slightly, and she momentarily forgot to speak.

Li Yi lowered his head and stretched his shoulders. The armor was light yet sturdy, offering no feeling of restriction. He looked up at Zi Yue and asked, "How is it?"

Zi Yue coughed lightly, suppressing the strange feeling in her heart. Just as she was about to speak, her gaze suddenly fell on his legs. She was stunned at first, and then she saw the trouser leg peeking out from under his battle skirt.

It was an extremely bright crimson, like a dancing flame, which stood out conspicuously against the backdrop of the moon-white lining and the silver-white battle skirt.

She paused for a moment, then reacted, her cool demeanor crumbling as she burst into laughter, her eyes crinkling into crescents. Her usually composed voice held a hint of amusement: "Li Yi, you—"

She pointed at his trouser cuffs, suppressing a laugh, and teased, "What kind of taste do you have? Wearing red thermal underwear with this battle suit?"

Li Yi looked down at the bright red stain on his leg, but didn't find it inappropriate at all. Instead, he reached out and tugged at his trouser leg, saying seriously, "It's fine, I like it."

"When I was picking out this one in the inner room, I felt it was comfortable, soft and close-fitting, and it didn't hurt my legs when I walked."

As he spoke, he lifted his foot, and the crimson trouser leg swayed with the movement, standing out even more against the silver-white battle skirt.

Looking at his serious expression, Zi Yue couldn't help but laugh out loud, saying, "You really have good taste."

This black-gold armor, paired with your red thermal underwear, is a combination unique to Yan City.

The waiter was trying hard to suppress his laughter, but Li Yi didn't care at all. He just felt that the red long johns were exceptionally comfortable to wear, much more comfortable than the coarse cloth pants he had worn before, so he said to the waiter, "This set is fine."

Zi Yue smiled and shook her head, but didn't say anything more. She just watched Li Yi walk around the shop twice in this "one-of-a-kind" outfit, and couldn't help but smile.

After paying, the two walked out of the shop. The Qiankun bag at Li Yi's waist swayed gently with each step, and the red thermal underwear under his silver-white battle skirt was faintly visible. Strangely, it did not seem out of place. Instead, it added a touch of earthy vitality to his handsome and sharp young appearance.

Zi Yue walked beside him, occasionally glancing at his trouser cuffs. She couldn't help but smile, and her cool voice softened as she said, "Let's go, I'll take you to try some of Yan City's local specialties. It'll also be a way of celebrating your new outfit."

Li Yi nodded and followed her deeper into the alley. The plates of his Xuanjin armor clanged together, making a soft, tinkling sound that mingled with the swaying of his Qiankun bag at his waist, creating a rhythm unique to the young man in the streets of Yan City.

The two walked side by side along Yancheng Street for a long time. The evening breeze fluttered the wine flags on the street, and the noise of people and the smoke of cooking filled the air.

Li Yi, dressed in this new outfit, exuded an aura of authority. From afar, he resembled a young prodigy from a prestigious family, attracting the attention of many passersby who secretly marveled at how rare it was to see such a handsome and spirited young man.

But as soon as their gazes drifted down slightly and they caught a glimpse of the crimson leggings peeking out from under the skirt, many people forced themselves to suppress their laughter, lowered their heads and walked away quickly, their shoulders twitching slightly involuntarily.

The vendors and cultivators along the way all secretly glanced at him out of the corner of their eyes, praising Li Yi's excellent appearance and temperament, while also being amused by his striking red long johns. However, due to the powerful aura emanating from him, no one dared to laugh out loud and could only suppress their laughter.

Zi Yue walked to the side, taking in all of this. A faint smile always played on her lips. Every now and then, she would glance at the crimson hue under Li Yi's skirt, finding the contrast increasingly striking.

She was naturally aloof and rarely had a moment to relax and joke around like this. Today, Li Yi's peculiar outfit completely piqued her interest, and she couldn't help but secretly chuckle the whole way.

Before long, Ziyue led Li Yi to a well-established eatery on the street corner. The shop was quaint and the wooden tables and chairs were neatly arranged. The air was filled with the rich aroma of meat broth and pastries. It was a famous eatery in Yancheng.

As soon as he entered, the shopkeeper greeted him with a beaming smile. His gaze first fell on Li Yi's magnificent and imposing battle attire, and his eyes were immediately filled with flattery and awe. He secretly admired the young man's extraordinary bearing and thought he must be a scion of a great family or sect.

But when his gaze inadvertently fell on the bright red trouser leg peeking out from under the battle skirt, the shopkeeper's smile instantly froze, his lips twitched uncontrollably, and his eyes reddened slightly as he swallowed back the laughter that was about to come out.

Having lived for so many years, he had seen countless cultivators in fine armor and strange attire, but this was the first time he had ever seen such a top-of-the-line Xuanjin battle suit paired with a down-to-earth pair of red long johns. The incongruity was off the charts, making it both comical and funny.

The waiter who ran over with bowls and chopsticks stared wide-eyed at the crimson stain, his mouth slightly agape. He almost burst out laughing, but he reacted quickly, lowering his head and pretending to tidy up the tableware. His shoulders trembled slightly, and his face turned bright red.

Zi Yue saw this and calmly found an empty seat by the window, her expression indifferent as if she hadn't seen anything, but the smile in her lowered eyes was already about to overflow.

Li Yi, oblivious to the strange looks from the others, sat down directly, casually placed the Qiankun bag at his waist on the table, and looked at the menu on the wall with a calm and natural expression, not feeling at all that there was anything wrong with his outfit.

"Shopkeeper, bring me a few of your signature dishes," Ziyue said.
