The overly proactive 95-generation actresses in the Chinese entertainment industry

Chapter 109 My Sister's Revenge!

When this show first aired, it wasn't very popular.

Most of the audience's attention was focused on Guan Xiaotong's hairstyle, which was criticized as resembling a "sewing machine".

The comments section was full of jokes like "Does Guan Xiaotong have a sewing machine on her head?"

While the male lead, Song Weilong, is good-looking, his acting is mediocre and lacks any truly outstanding qualities.

The show's popularity has been hovering on the edge of the trending topics list, neither rising nor falling.

Until Gu Huan appeared.

That was when "Phoenix Prisoner" aired up to episode 12.

Lin Yu, who plays Gu Huan, makes his first appearance.

Dressed in white, with his hair tied up in a high bun, he had handsome features and a refined demeanor.

He was carrying a medicine box, a faint smile on his lips.

It's like the people in a traditional Chinese ink painting suddenly came to life.

The live chat exploded at that moment.

"Holy crap! Who is this?! Their aura is absolutely amazing!"

"Clad in white, as pure as snow, gentle and refined as jade—this is the Gu Huan of my heart!"

"Mom, I'm in love! Who is this guy?! I need all his information in three seconds!"

"Ahhhhh, it's Lin Yu! The one who sang 'Light' on 'Grade One Graduation Season'!"

"What? An actor can sing this well? I'm going to watch it right now!"

The night Gu Huan appeared, #LinYuGuHuan# surged to thirteenth place on the entertainment section's trending topics list.

The next day, they jumped straight to fifth place.

Third day, third place.

Fans went wild, turning screenshots of Lin Yu from "Phoenix Prisoner" into various memes and wallpapers, which were then shared on Weibo, Baidu Tieba, and other online platforms.

It went viral on TikTok.

His white-clad look has been dubbed the "ceiling of ancient costumes" by netizens.

His refined and scholarly demeanor has been described as "like a nobleman who stepped out of a book."

What really captivated netizens was the romantic storyline between Gu Huan and Huo Xuan.

Bai Lu portrays Huo Xuan as a spirited and valiant woman who dares to love and hate.

Bai Lu perfectly captured the curiosity in her eyes when she first met Gu Huan, the kind that seemed to say, "This doctor is interesting."

Lin Yu plays Gu Huan, who appears gentle and harmless on the surface, but secretly harbors the identity of the head of the Tianji Pavilion. This contrast makes the audience unable to stop watching.

The two characters go from acquaintance to friendship to love, and every scene they share captivates the audience.

"Gu Huan's eyes sparkled when she looked at Huo Xuan!"

"Huo Xuan only shows her girlish side in front of Gu Huan, it's so adorable!"

"I'm totally shipping this couple, I'm keeping the key to them!"

Especially the scene where Gu Huan confesses his love to Huo Xuan, the barrage of comments was so dense that it covered the entire screen.

When Lin Yu said those four words, the deep affection and restraint in his eyes made countless viewers scream in front of their screens.

"Aaaaaaah, he confessed! He confessed!"

"My girlish heart is fluttering! I could look at Lin Yu's eyes a hundred times!"

"Bai Lu, just say yes! If you don't, I'll take you!"

Bai Lu's portrayal of Huo Xuan progressed from shock to emotion to shyness, with each layer of emotion building up and prompting viewers to exclaim, "Bai Lu's acting has improved so much!"

The two have amazing chemistry, and #HuanxuanCP# immediately climbed to seventh place on the trending topics list.

As the plot unfolds, Gu Huan and Huo Xuan's relationship deepens, and viewers become increasingly engrossed in their romance.

Especially the wedding scene.

Gu Huan, dressed in a bright red wedding gown, and Huo Xuan, adorned with a phoenix coronet and embroidered ribbons, looked at each other during their wedding ceremony, a sight that brought countless viewers to tears.

"They're finally together! I cried so hard!"

"This couple is my sole motivation for watching the show!"

"Lin Yu and Bai Lu have such amazing chemistry! Could they actually be together?"

"Hey upstairs, stop talking, I'm already starting to imagine it!"

#HuanxuanCP# has once again topped the trending searches, this time reaching number four.

Lin Yu and Bai Lu's Weibo followers also skyrocketed along with the popularity of the drama.

Lin Yu had ten million fans before "Untouchable Lovers" aired. The week Gu Huan appeared, that number jumped to eleven million.

By the time the wedding scene aired, it had already surpassed 12 million views.

Now, it has just surpassed 13 million.

The number of fans of Bailu is even more exaggerated.

She was previously an unknown newcomer with less than a million followers on Weibo.

After the premiere of "Untouchable Lovers", the character Huo Xuan made her a household name, and her fan base skyrocketed—two million, three million, four million—and now it has exceeded five million.

Bai Lu's agent's voice was trembling when he called her.

"Bai Lu, do you know what? You're gaining more followers in a single day than you did in the entire past year!"

Bai Lu laughed on the other end of the phone, but her eyes reddened as she laughed.

She recalled the day of her audition for "Phoenix Prisoner" when she was so nervous that her palms were sweating.

It was Lin Yu who accompanied her to rehearse and explained the character to her, which gave her confidence in front of the director.

She remembered those late nights when Lin Yu, dressed in his pajamas, would sit at her doorway, practicing lines and blocking with her over and over again, never finding it annoying.

It was all worth it.

At this moment, under the red walls of the Forbidden City.

Li Yitong linked arms with Lin Yu, rested her head on his shoulder, and the two walked slowly.

"Little Lin, have you been particularly busy lately?" Li Yitong asked.

"It's alright, I only filmed for a few days as a GG spokesperson, and spent the rest of the time at home," Lin Yu said.

"Have you seen the comments online? Your Gu Huan is driving all the girls crazy." Li Yitong's tone was tinged with jealousy.

Lin Yu smiled and said, "I saw it, the fans are very enthusiastic."

"It's more than just enthusiasm," Li Yitong said, pursing her lips.

"When I was scrolling through Weibo, I saw a comment saying that Brother Lin Yu is my ideal type and I want to have his babies."

"Do you think this is reasonable?"

Lin Yu was both amused and exasperated: "That's just how fans are, they never have a serious mouth."

"I don't care whether they're being serious or not." Li Yitong looked up at him, her eyes serious.

"Anyway, you're mine."

Lin Yu paused for a moment, then smiled.

"Yes, I am yours."

Li Yitong nodded in satisfaction and leaned her head back on his shoulder.

After walking a few steps, she asked again, "Was your wedding scene with Bai Lu a real kiss or just a camera trick?"

Lin Yu's heart skipped a beat.

"We really kissed," he said truthfully.

"Hmph." Li Yitong snorted, but didn't get angry. She just tightened her grip on his arm.

"That was all acting, it was necessary for the plot," Lin Yu quickly explained.

"I know it's acting," Li Yitong said in a muffled voice, "but it still makes me uncomfortable."

Lin Yu didn't know what to say, so he remained silent.

After walking a few steps, Li Yitong said again, "But it's okay."

"Um?"

'

"I don't care if you and she get married on TV." Li Yitong looked up at him with a sly smile on her lips.

Anyway, you and I already consummated our marriage last night.

Lin Yu's heart raced at her words. He quickly looked around to make sure no one had heard before he breathed a sigh of relief.

"Sister Yitong, please keep your voice down," he said softly.

"What are you afraid of?" Li Yitong said matter-of-factly. "I didn't say who it was."

Lin Yu shook his head helplessly.

This woman is as gentle as a spring breeze when she's gentle, and as bold as a raging fire when she's bold.

He really couldn't do anything with her.
