Who goes to work if they're a decent person?

Su Ming and Gu Yushu met and had breakfast together.

During breakfast, Su Ming suggested going fishing.

"Fishing?" Gu Yushu repeated, her tone filled with disbelief.

In her mind, what era are we living in? Why would anyone still go fishing?

"Yeah, fishing. Didn't I say I'd treat you to fish today?" Su Ming nodded, as if it were the most natural thing in the world.

"Perfect timing to go out and relax, right?"

Gu Yushu took a sip of soy milk and didn't say anything.

She had never fished before, but she had developed a slight interest in it.

Seeing Gu Yushu's suspicious look, Su Ming picked up his phone and showed it to her.

"Look, I've already looked it up. There's an ecological fishpond in the suburbs with a nice environment, and it's only a 20-minute drive away."

Gu Yushu glanced at it twice, then nodded in agreement.

So early in the morning, Gu Yushu drove Su Ming to the suburbs.

Gu Yushu was wearing a simple white T-shirt and light-colored denim shorts, her long hair was tied into a neat ponytail, and she wore sunglasses that covered half of her face.

Today, Su Ming was dressed in tasteless athletic shorts and an old man's shirt, with Crocs on his feet, giving off a completely middle-aged and elderly vibe.

As the car drove along the country road, there were lush green farmlands on both sides, and the air was indeed fresh.

Gu Yushu rolled down the car window and looked at the scenery rushing past outside. A rare smile appeared on his face.

"We've arrived!" Soon, the car stopped next to a wooden sign that read "Old Chen's Ecological Fish Pond - Leisure Fishing".

The fishpond was quite large and divided into several areas. There were seven or eight people sitting sparsely on the shore, all of them well-equipped professionals.

The fishing box, rod bag, and sun umbrella are all provided, which shows that the person is a seasoned angler who comes here often.

Su Ming led Gu Yushu to a simple hut by the pond, where an old man with dark skin and wearing rubber shoes was tidying up fishing nets.

"Boss, how much does it cost to fish?" Su Ming asked.

The old man looked up and glanced at the two men with empty hands, then looked at the car they were driving.

"12 yuan per person, fishing until noon, fish are sold by weight, pay for whatever you catch. Fishing rods and stools are 30 yuan per set, bait is extra."

"Okay, I'll rent two sets, and some bait too." Su Ming paid readily.

The old man took out two old-looking fiberglass fishing rods, two small stools, and two small packets of red earthworms from the house.

He pointed to a bucket next to him: "The bait is over there, make some yourself. If you don't know how to fish, just watch others, and don't make a lot of noise or scare the fish away."

Su Ming took the somewhat rudimentary equipment and then led Gu Yushu along the pond to find a spot.

The good spots were mostly taken, so I ended up sitting in a corner, in an open space with lots of aquatic plants.

It's a bit far from other anglers, but not too remote.

The two clumsily began assembling the fishing rod, threading the line, tying the hook, and attaching earthworms.

Gu Yushu learns quickly. She glanced at the actions of the person next to her, and although she looked disgusted, she was very efficient at baiting the bait.

Su Ming followed suit and baited the bait, managing to make it passable.

Their movements and their beginner gear naturally attracted the attention of several anglers nearby.

The way they looked at them wasn't exactly malicious, but it did give the impression of looking at newbies.

To put it bluntly, it's like the kind of disdain that comes from an experienced person looking down on a novice.

Especially seeing such a beautiful woman as Gu Yushu, actually going fishing with a silly boy wearing Crocs.

Still carrying such a shabby rod, a few anglers dressed like spirited young men exchanged a few words and smirked.

Su Ming and Gu Yushu didn't care about any of that. They followed the example of others, cast their fishing hooks into the water, and then sat on small stools, staring at the floats on the surface of the water.

Five minutes passed, and the float remained motionless.

Ten minutes passed, and the float still didn't move.

However, to their left, about ten meters away, an old man was slowly raising his fishing rod.

A small crucian carp, about the size of a palm, was lifted out of the water, shimmering silver. The old man calmly took the fish out, threw it into the net next to him, rebaited it, and cast his line again, his movements fluid and graceful.

A while later, a man wearing a straw hat, who was a little further away, also caught a fish; it was a fairly large carp.

Meanwhile, the floats on Su Ming and Gu Yushu's side seemed to be welded to the water's surface, remaining completely still.

"Did we make a mistake somewhere?" Gu Yushu frowned slightly and asked in a low voice.

Although fishing is quite fun, sitting here like this is really getting boring.

Su Ming was also a little puzzled. Although he had never fished before, shouldn't a novice have some novice luck?

Just then, the old man on the left caught another fish, this time a small crucian carp, and seemed to be in a good mood.

He glanced at Su Ming and couldn't help but speak in Mandarin with a local accent.

"Young men, you didn't bait the spot, did you?"

"Catch a fish?" Su Ming and Gu Yushu were both taken aback.

"That's right. When fishing, you need to bait the area first. Put some bait where you cast your line to attract the fish."

"You guys are fishing like this, you won't even come here. You'll fish until dark and still not catch anything." The old man kindly reminded him, but his tone was amused, clearly with a hint of schadenfreude.

Another angler nearby chimed in, "Exactly! You guys don't even know how to bait the area properly, what kind of fish are you going to catch?"

This drew a few low laughs from the neighbors.

Su Ming suddenly realized what was going on and quickly thanked him, "Thank you, sir, we'll get started right away."

He quickly ran to the bucket and scooped up some of the grayish, slightly sour-smelling bait.

Then, imitating others, I kneaded the dough into balls and threw them toward the approximate location of my float, throwing several balls with a splash.

Gu Yushu followed his example and threw several balls.

After setting up their fishing spot, the two sat down again, looking at the float with anticipation.

Five minutes passed, and there was no movement.

Ten minutes later, the float seemed to move slightly. Su Ming excitedly lifted it, but it was empty. The bait was gone; the small fish had eaten it all.

So he baited the hook again and cast the line.

Another 10 minutes passed, and there was still no movement.

Meanwhile, the old man on the left caught another fish.

The other anglers also caught quite a few fish one after another.

Only Su Ming and Gu Yushu became the most stable air force in this fishpond.

Gu Yushu's patience had completely run out. He took off his sunglasses and looked at Su Ming. "Su Ming, we've been ripped off. This bait and fishing rod are completely useless, aren't they?"

Su Ming didn't speak; he stared at his unresponsive fishing rod.

Then he looked around and heard the occasional splashing of water and the joy of the fish taking the bait.

Su Ming suddenly remembered his reverse buff skill, "Damn! I forgot about that, no wonder I haven't made a move while they've been consistently dropping items."

Having figured all this out, he smiled.

"Yushu, if we buy their fish now, does that mean we caught them?"

Gu Yushu looked at him like he was an idiot: "Are you sick? If you can't catch them yourself, what's the point of coming here? Wouldn't it be faster to just go to the market?"

"It has a different meaning." Su Ming chuckled, and a plan began to form in his mind.
