"Romu! Are you trying to kill me with heat?!"
You little rascal, you just learned how to create a fire formation and you've already set up a whole bunch of them everywhere! The house's turning into an oven!
Hamelin's shouting woke Rom.
Rom sat up sleepily from the straw bed covered with a blanket, rubbing his eyes.
The light outside was faint; it was early morning.
Jack was still fast asleep on his makeshift bed in the corner.
Hamelin was already dressed and holding an oak staff, standing in front of him.
"Get up! You're so lazy. This kind of attitude won't work in Red Dragon City; you'll hardly pass the exam!"
It seems that yesterday's treatment was very effective; Hamelin has regained his former vitality.
Seeing that Hamerin had already slung a burlap sack over his shoulder, Romuel asked curiously, "Where are you going?"
"Of course, I'm going into the mountains to gather herbs! While these old bones of mine can still move, there's a whole lot of research waiting for me to do!"
Yesterday, Cassius and Elena left the stone house before dark.
They had agreed that Rom would meet them in Silver Town that very day, and then head to Red Dragon City.
Today is the day he leaves Blackrock Town.
Luo Mu pondered for a moment, then asked:
"Teacher, before I leave, I have a few questions I'd like to ask you."
"What? Just say it." Hamelin still looked impatient.
Luo Mu looked toward the desk.
The manual obtained from the black sorcerer's corpse was placed on top, next to Professor Hamelin's diary.
He arranged it that way on purpose last night.
He didn't know how to ask Professor Hamelin about the dark sorcerers, so he could only use this method to see Professor Hamelin's reaction.
Now, the booklet's location has changed. And there's a new book called "Earth Elf Language" on the table.
Hamelin had clearly already reviewed the booklet.
So, what is the answer?
Rom did not press further, but remained silent, gazing at Hamerlin.
After a long silence in the stone house, Hamelin finally turned his head slowly.
He didn't look at Romú, but at the desk.
Then he sighed.
"Romu, I know you may have discovered something."
But there are some things I can't tell you, so please don't blame me.
Hamelin pointed to the desk: "The answers to your questions are all in that book, [Earth Elf Language]. I'm giving it to you."
If you can understand it, then you will naturally know everything.
If you can't understand it, that's fine too. In this life, you don't necessarily need to know everything.
Luo Mu frowned slightly.
This old man is playing a riddle game!
I had to get to the bottom of it.
However, Hamelin had already opened the wooden door, and he turned around to give Rom a mage's salute.
"My full name is Tyrael Hamelin, which in Elvish means 'protected by the moonlight'."
Goodbye, Rom, I'll be here waiting for you to come back.
Having said that, Hamelin closed the door and left without giving Romuk any further questions.
Outside the door, only one sentence remained:
"There are flatbreads in the pot, and your favorite mushroom soup too. Eat up!"
...
Rom did not give chase.
He has received a response.
It seems the old man really was hiding something.
But the final answer is something he needs to discover for himself.
He woke Jack up, and the two of them finished off all the food in the pot.
Luo Mu didn't have much stuff, just two sets of worn-out clothes. He tidied them up quickly and then put the [Earth Elf Language] on the table into his bundle.
"Let's go, today is the day to set off."
Pushing open the door of the stone house, although it was still a world of ice and snow, a rare ray of sunlight shone through the morning mist.
……
Things must have a beginning and an end. When Rom passed through Blackstone Town, he truthfully reported the matter of the mine to the town mayor.
"The monsters in the mine have been driven away, and I've placed a fire-gathering array at the mine entrance. That should prevent any more monsters from taking over before next winter."
The mayor was overjoyed and grasped Rom's hand.
"Thank you so much! I'll definitely send a few more barrels of barley wine to Master Hamelin later."
Upon learning that Rom was going to the Mage Guild in Red Dragon City for an assessment, the mayor became even more excited and rubbed his hands together.
He quickly gathered some residents of the town, as well as the tavern owner Gil, and pooled together some money.
There were both silver and copper coins, filling a small, bulging bag.
The basket was also filled to the brim with dry rations.
"This is a small token of everyone's appreciation. Rom, we look forward to you becoming a mage soon!"
"If Mage Hamelin gets old, our Blackrock Town will be counting on you!"
Even the filthy Krili grinned and said, "Master Romu! When you become successful, you must come back and lead the villagers to prosperity!"
Luo Mu was both amused and exasperated, feeling like the only young person in the village to have been admitted to university.
After saying goodbye to Blackrock Town, Romula picks up Jack, who is hiding in the woods, and heads to Silver Town.
...
After a four-hour journey, the two arrived at the gate of Baiyin Town.
"Isn't this the Venerable Master? Welcome back again!"
During the battle that night, the guards all recognized Rom and respected the young man greatly, greeting him warmly.
The town of Baiyin is bustling during the day, and the city walls are constantly being reinforced with defensive fortifications, showcasing the town's wealth and heritage.
"Since that day, no magical beasts have appeared again!" Several guards greeted Rom as he entered the city, introducing the situation with smiles.
"It's all thanks to the fire formation you set up."
The group arrived at the center of the town, where a large fire array was burning steadily, and many people had already appeared around praying to the fire array.
Clearly, the warm power of magic made them feel at ease.
"Shall I take you to the mayor's residence?" the young guard asked.
"No, I'm here to see the mage Cassius."
The group arrived at the mage's pavilion, only to find Elena healing an old woman on the first floor.
Upon seeing Rom's arrival, she couldn't help but smile.
"Rom, I thought you would be arriving later."
Professor Cassius is in a meeting with the mayor and nobles. Please wait a moment.
Rom nodded. "Then let's wander around for a while and get something to eat."
Elena quickly bandaged the old lady's wound, gave her a few instructions, and then followed her over.
"I'll go with you."
It seems that some traveling merchants have recently arrived in Baiyin Town, making the market very lively with many merchants selling various goods.
As they passed some clothing stalls selling various robes, Elena pulled on Laromu's cloak.
"Rom, we're about to head to Red Dragon City. Would you like to buy some new clothes?"
Romulus glanced at his patched burlap cloak and smiled wryly:
"That works too. After all, I'd look like a country bumpkin if I went to Red Dragon City dressed like this."
Elena blushed and quickly waved her hands to explain, "I...I didn't mean that! It's just..."
I bought you some clothes! Thank you for your help the other day.
Jack rubbed his hands together and said, "Boss! We've been going down into the mines and hunting these past few days, and look how tattered my robes are. Let's buy a few sets, otherwise they'll be too conspicuous in Red Dragon City."
Luo Mu nodded, and the group walked to a stall selling robes and picked out a few.
A moment later, Rom emerged from behind the simple fitting room curtain.
He took off his tattered linen cloak and put on a neat, dark blue fitted robe.
Although his clothes weren't embellished with gold or silver and weren't particularly luxurious, the clean, deep blue color made his already handsome face look exceptionally vibrant.
Furthermore, after undergoing the physical enhancement through [Flesh and Blood Absorption], Rom's originally thin body became more proportionate, and he became much taller.
Elena stood to the side, staring blankly at the completely transformed Rom.
She quickly lowered her head, pretending to search for the silver coins on her person, and didn't dare to look him in the eye.
Even Jack couldn't help but give a thumbs up: "Wow, Romulus, you really have an air about you, like a young nobleman!"
Suddenly, a harsh shout came from behind.
"Get out of the way! Are you blind? What are you doing blocking the way!"
Three burly men roughly pushed through the crowd and shoved the clothing vendor, making him stumble. Judging from their clothes, they looked like thugs.
"Make way! The young master is here!"
