Chapter 89 Going to school? Go to school my ass!

"Ahhh!" one of the operatives yelled, frantically pulling the trigger and firing at Salomon, who was standing by the car window. But the bullets posed little threat to Salomon; his rapier precisely sliced the operative's fingers, and the pistol fell to the ground along with his finger. Salomon's prediction was correct; the fear spell was indeed too intense for ordinary people. Even now, in the eyes of the operatives, Salomon's image and that fear were still intertwined.

"Is it still not over on your end?" Cassirios wobbled over in his dilapidated sedan. He got out, his once meticulously combed gray-white hair now disheveled, and the handkerchief in his breast pocket was gone. Salomon turned around and noticed traces of blood on his fingers. Clearly, Cassirios had been faster than Salomon in eliminating the action team members. He asked, "Why isn't it as quiet on my end as it is here?"

"Fear spell, I haven't copied it into my spellbook yet." Salomon thrust his longsword again, severing the throats of the remaining team members, leaving only the barely alive leader lying on the ground. Salomon reached inside, opened the car window, dragged the leader, whose nerves he had severed, out of the vehicle, and threw him to the ground. He said, "Perhaps you should cancel the mirror dimension so the radio can pick up their messages."

"Then what about going to school?" Kasirius asked as he stretched out his hand to cast a spell.

"I can't imagine whether anyone could still go to school under these circumstances. I'm afraid even a Venerable One couldn't help it." Salomon bent down, picked up the walkie-talkie on the leader's shoulder, pressed a few buttons casually, glanced around at the surroundings, and then put his ear to the walkie-talkie. "However, we need to determine who the mastermind behind the attack is first."

"Received... Please reply... Received... Please reply..." The radio system in the driver's seat beeped. Salomon awkwardly tossed aside the walkie-talkie in his hand; he had assumed these operatives communicated using shoulder-mounted walkie-talkies, like in the movies. He dragged the driver's body off the seat, sat down himself, and after spending a few seconds examining the buttons, Salomon finally picked up the radio.

"Hello," he said calmly.

The person on the other end of the radio fell silent. Salomon continued, "Are you S.H.I.E.L.D.?"

There was still no response.

"Tell me, who is in charge of this operation?" Salomon said. "Is it Agent Natasha Romanov?"

"Yes." After a long while, a female voice came from the other end of the radio, "Tell me, how are those operatives doing? I think you can use them as bargaining chips."

"I thought all secret agents had suicide pills sewn into their collars," Salomon winked at Cassirios, signaling him not to rush things. He continued, "And... I'm afraid I won't be able to return them to you."

The radio station fell silent again. Salomon's unspoken message had been conveyed to the other side: all the team members involved in the operation had been wiped out. Even through the radio, Salomon could feel the heavy atmosphere on the other end.

"But I left one alive, the one who should be considered the leader," Salomon said. Now, the agents in charge of the operation felt even more alarmed—if all the team members had perished, they would have mourned them and even sought revenge, but if there was a survivor, and who might have revealed secrets—they could only hope that the prisoner would commit suicide.

"Oh, by the way. Are you Agent Natasha Romanoff?" Salomon asked. "The sound here is a bit distorted, so there's really no way to determine your identity."

"You're Salomon Damonette. We've met before." Natasha's voice was tinged with annoyance. She wasn't sure if Salomon knew her name from the prisoners or if they already knew each other. "I don't know where you heard my name from, but listen, you and your organization are wanted by S.H.I.E.L.D."

"Wanted by S.H.I.E.L.D.? My organization?" Before Natasha could finish speaking, Salomon said with a puzzled look, "I don't know what you're talking about?"

"Salem, Collins, wasn't this an operation organized by your group?" Natasha said. "You broke the law..."

"I think I understand what you mean," Salomon said. "I'll talk to you."

"Looking for us?"

"Yes, now." Salomon said, then hung up the radio and got out of the driver's seat.

"How is it?" Cassirios asked.

"S.H.I.E.L.D. has issued a warrant for Kamar-Taj arrest. They caught me out by my actions, though I don't even know what I missed?" Salomon shrugged. "I'm planning to talk to S.H.I.E.L.D.; it'll be more effective to go directly to their boss."

"I mean, what do we do now?" Cassirios rolled his eyes. "You're going to be late for your opening ceremony."

"If I don't talk to them, I'm afraid more Secret Service agents will break in during the opening ceremony," Salomon said. "Let's just leave this guy here; he can get insurance if S.H.I.E.L.D. is willing to buy insurance for him."

"It would be strange if Hydra would even buy insurance for its members," Salomon thought to himself. But regardless, a proper talk with Nick Fury was imperative. As for going to school, forget about it. After Kasirius opened the portal, he helped push the wrecked car inside. Regarding the meeting with Nick Fury, Salomon refused Kasirius's offer to accompany him, insisting on going alone. Kasirius could only say he would inform the Sorcerer Supreme.

"I don't think S.H.I.E.L.D. poses any threat to me." A burst of golden-red flames erupted above Salomon's head, and a large bird wreathed in flames appeared out of thin air and landed on Salomon's shoulder. As his summoned demon, the phoenix that resided in the mortal realm, Salomon certainly wouldn't forget it. The arcane mage cast a spell to open a portal, and he and Phoenix entered together.

"I'll tell the Sorcerer Supreme!" Kasirius shouted towards Salomon on the other side of the portal.

"I know! Go on, I'll be back in a bit!" Salomon waved and closed the portal.

"'Do you think you're the only special person in the whole world?' I especially like that line; it so easily conveys a certain condescending sense of superiority." Salomon sat at the director of S.H.I.E.L.D.'s desk, speaking to the person behind it. Beside the arcane mage, Phoenix spread its wings and circled in the spacious office. But if anyone were to notice, they would realize that this large, fiery bird seemed a bit off; it was belly-up, like a turkey on a plate.

But if you turn things upside down, everything makes perfect sense, including Nick Fury, who was clinging tightly to the edge of the desk. Both his blood and his intuition told Nick Fury that the ceiling beneath his feet was the ground, but even as the battle-hardened director of S.H.I.E.L.D., Nick Fury found it hard to accept what was happening before his eyes.

After receiving news of the mission's failure, Nick Fury returned to his office, intending to access Salomon Damonette's file on his computer. Coulson's amnesia, the mission's failure—all signs pointed to Salomon Damonette's organization being more complex than it seemed. But as he turned on his computer and looked up from behind his desk, Salomon Damonette, the target of this operation, suddenly appeared before him.

Before he could react, everything turned upside down. Looking out the window, he saw the view reversed, as if the building had been folded up. Before he could even draw his pistol, a piercing shriek slowed him to a crawl. By the time the folding was complete, he could only cling tightly to the desk, struggling to stay upright. And that bastard, Salomon Damonette, sat there headfirst, completely unfazed, still sitting quietly in his chair.

Then comes the scene at the beginning.

Is this an illusion? Or is it real? Nick Fury pinched himself discreetly, but the scene before him remained unchanged.

"As the guardian of secrets, I ask you, do you think you know all the secrets, Nick Fury?" Salomon asked, though he didn't expect Nick Fury to answer.

"Why not let things go back to normal so we can have a proper talk?" Nick Fury said.

Monther Fxxker! When did the Director of S.H.I.E.L.D. ever get threatened by the S.H.I.E.L.D.'s Triple Wing?! But this situation only confirmed his suspicions—this organization was indeed not simple.

"This kind of conversation can help clear your head," Salomon said. Just then, the office door opened, and a tall woman with short black hair walked in, carrying a document. This was Maria Hill, Nick Fury's adjutant assigned by the World Security Council, though now under Fury's command.

She looked around in confusion—she had clearly seen the director enter the office, but now he was nowhere to be seen, and the computer on his desk was on. However, having been a secret agent for so long, she knew what she should and shouldn't ask. She simply put down the documents and left the room without doing anything else, making sure to close the door before leaving.

"She can't see you," Salomon said. "And she can't see me either. We're in a virtual dimension now; you entered the mirror dimension the moment you stepped into this office."

"Is this also one of your abilities?" Nick Fury asked. "It seems our intelligence was wildly wrong. The superhuman organization behind you appears to be quite powerful."

"At this point you're still trying to get information from me; that just shows you're a born spy," Salomon said. "And when did I say it was a superpower? It's magic!"

"Magic?!" Nick Fury didn't believe such nonsense. He thought the guy in front of him was a fool who mistook superpowers for magic—S.H.I.E.L.D. had arrested countless people like that. He shouted, "Does that mean God and the devil exist too?"

Salomon remained silent for a long while before speaking.

“Yes,” he said. “You’re absolutely right. What you’ve encountered are just aliens, threats from the real world—the Kree, the Skrulls. What we fight against are threats from outer dimensions—demons, devils, angels, dark magic creatures. Why are you looking at me with such surprise? Do you think it’s hard for us to know these things? Kamar-Taj has existed for over a thousand years; it’s normal for them to know these things.”

"Or are you trying to sneakily press your little pager?" Salomon stood up from his chair and walked towards Nick Fury across the floor, which now served as the ceiling. "This is the mirror dimension; signals can't be transmitted outside. Perhaps I should let you try. You can call Carol Danvers back; that bull who only knows how to unleash her energy, I could trap her with a flick of my finger."
