Chapter 77 Devouring

Chapter 77 Devouring

The spell "Tasha's Laughter" comes from the famous witch of Perilan, a hardcore imprisonment play enthusiast, the creator of "Demon Chronicles", the lover of the three giants of the abyss, the Lord of Darkness, the Two-Way Plug, the Six-Finger, the Lord of the Triple Realm, Grazzt, who is both an enemy and a friend, and the mother of the demigod Iwz - Igvelf of the Grey Eagle World.

Baldr and Bayonetta are natural spellcasters; the powers of angels and demons flow in their veins, and the closer they are to these powers, the greater the force they wield. This affinity for magic is charisma, evident in Bayonetta's unparalleled allure, while Baldr's voice remains captivating even with half his face veiled. Therefore, Salomon chose this mind-controlling spell to exploit the weaknesses of natural spellcasters.

Bullets are always faster than incantations. While Salomon was still chanting, throwing cakes, and waving feathers, Bayonetta's bullets were already hurtling towards Baldr's head. Then, an invisible force spread out from Baldr, freezing everything in place. Within this area, everyone except Baldr was still. He easily raised his hand, caught the four frozen bullets, and turned them around.

Baldr's fingers swiftly swept through the air, and everything returned to normal. No one realized what had happened, but Bayonetta, with her exceptional reflexes, managed to dodge the bullet that was meant for Baldr. However, it was precisely because of this that Baldr seized the opportunity. The Sage's free left hand reached out and tightly gripped Bayonetta's neck, lifting her up.

"That's it, Ceresia! Fear not your destiny!" Baldr's fingers dug deep into Bayonetta's slender neck like iron hooks, ignoring her cries of agony. "Hold your head high, my child, grasp your true potential! Hahahahaha!"

Baldr burst into maniacal laughter, his tense muscles forcing him to hunch slightly. Even though the left half of his face was obscured by a golden mask, his madness was still evident. Suddenly, Salomon appeared between him and Bayonetta amidst a thin wisp of silver mist. The sorcerer's right hand held a dagger, slashing at the sage's left hand, which was beginning to weaken due to the spell, forcing him to release Bayonetta. At the same time, Salomon reached out his left hand to the little girl held in Baldr's arms.

The Disappearance Step spell is far too useful; it's practically an instantaneous teleportation with an extremely short lead time. Whether for escaping, chasing, or even infiltrating the battlefield, it's always invaluable. However, due to the time constraints, Salomon couldn't cast any more spells, let alone have time to activate magical items.

Without Salomon saying a word, the chubby gray shorthair cat stretched out its sharp claws, grabbed Baldr's priest's robe, and climbed up. Its movements were so swift that it seemed as if the fat didn't exist. Salomon's pet scratched Baldr's neck hard, leaving four white marks.

The invisible domain expanded once more. Baldr coughed a few times, then took a deep breath; all the negative effects of Tasha's Laughter had vanished. (Willpower Check)

"I still admire you, arcane mage." He released his grip on Bayonetta, shoved Salomon hard, grabbed the fat gray cat that was about to bite, and threw it aside. He then slapped away Salomon's outstretched hand that was reaching for the little girl.

While maintaining this power was somewhat troublesome for Baldr, his excessive confidence allowed him to spend time rambling when he held the upper hand, even though he knew Salomon couldn't hear him. He said, "To deduce the Sage's weakness after only a short time, worthy of being the Sorcerer Supreme's disciple, worthy of being the Holy Son. But you're just lucky."

Badr suddenly threw a punch.

Time resumed its normal flow, and Salomon felt himself attacked twice in an instant, once in his left hand and once in his chest. Before he could react, the immense force sent him staggering backward, crashing into the soft, warm body behind him. Bayonetta and he were both sent flying backward, slamming into the slowly rotating giant rune disk.

"Cough! Cough! Ugh!" The attack almost made Salomon gasp for breath, and Bayonetta was still recovering from the pain. When Salomon pulled Bayonetta to her feet, they saw Baldr lift the young Bayonetta up, and the little girl floated up, her whole body radiating blue magic.

"Ceresa, we are one, my child." Baldr gazed at the little girl before him with rapture. The little girl, floating in the air, crashed into Baldr's chest and vanished. Immediately afterward, a massive surge of blue magic appeared out of nowhere, surging towards Baldr like a tidal wave. This magic stirred up a whirlwind in the spherical room, centered on Baldr. All the tapestries, tables, and chairs were pushed outward by this force, colliding and shattering with a deafening roar.

The sage cried out in pain, yet his voice held a hint of joy. Salomon and Bayonetta, however, had no time to comment on this utterly bizarre scene; they could only hide behind the Seraphim Shield erected by Salomon, struggling against the overwhelming power. But Salomon couldn't hold out for long. The Seraphim Shield he had erected was stretched by the magical storm, and countless dazzling sparks, like paint poured into a rushing stream, were swept into the air in an arc by the current.

Fortunately, the magical storm abruptly stopped just as Salomon was about to collapse, but something worse followed. The magic, having gathered around Baldr, erupted with even greater force, shattering the Shield of Seraphim into sparks. The massive impact even shattered the floating spherical room into fragments, reaching the spire of the Isabelle Building, sending huge blocks of concrete and steel falling from the sky. Bayonetta clung to Salomon, using her own magic as a final barrier, falling with the sorcerer.

Baldr floated in the air, and the peacock feathers behind him suddenly bloomed, unfolding like wings, just like the ones Bayonetta had seen five hundred years ago. He had ten feathers of different lengths on each side, symmetrical to each other, for a total of five pairs of wings, which also symbolized Baldr's identity as Jubilee's human representative.

Unlike five hundred years ago, azure magic surged across his body, and a small head made of blue magic emerged from Baldr's chest. The face made of magic was exactly the same as Ceresa's, and even the glasses and the flower tucked behind her ear were identical.

"Boya! You..." Bayonetta, still falling, unfurled beautiful butterfly wings, attempting to slow herself and avoid the falling rocks, but Salomon, bleeding from his mouth and nose, filled her with immense worry. Salomon waved his hand, coughing up blood—Baldell's punch had punctured his lung, and he still felt a dull ache in his ribs. But it didn't matter; he could heal himself with the positive energy provided by Vishanti.

"Go..." Salomon said, "Remember... lipstick! Kill him..."

A target hit by the Laughter spell will need to make another check every time they are attacked... So, remember to use this on a kitchen knife, but don't use it on a divine spell user, or you'll regret it.
