Chapter 67 The Conspiracy of the Isabel Mansion
Chapter 67 The Conspiracy of the Isabel Mansion
The reason Luca was being hunted was simple: not long ago, he disguised himself as a Ragnar cultist and tried to infiltrate the Ragnar cult's headquarters—the Isabel Building.
The plan, unsurprisingly, failed. The reason was not only because of the highly recognizable scarf, but also because the guy couldn't wait to take pictures everywhere as soon as he stepped into the building, including the security guards at the building entrance.
By the way, the guard's photo was a retake, which is the most important reason why he was discovered.
But perhaps because the Ragnarokists never imagined that the Isabelle Mansion would be invaded, since those who came to Vigrides were either armed with passes or were Ragnarokists themselves. After a long time, Luca was finally discovered by the guards, but he had already taken a full memory card of photos. Fortunately, even though he had slipped to the door, the guards assumed he had just entered.
Yes, Luca bought another camera, again on loan. Now he has to pay off not only his car loan but also the loan on the camera and lenses.
"Are you French? I can barely hear your accent, but your mannerisms and the fact that you wear a scarf and a tie at the same time make me doubt your nationality. Do the French really like Louis XIV that much? They'd rather strangle themselves than not wear a tie?" Salomon said. "To think you could fall in love with a young woman while on the run, you're as foolish as Bongros in Voltaire's novel."
"That accusation is absolutely outrageous. I've read *The Innocent*, but that doesn't mean I subscribe to Leibniz's optimism. Besides, wearing a tie is a lifestyle choice, a privilege of adults! Obviously, you're not old enough for that," Luca retorted. "Furthermore, meeting a young and beautiful girl in such a tense and exciting environment, finding joy in this cruel world full of messy monsters—don't you find that romantic? What's your nationality?"
"U.K."
"Oh!"
"I have no intention of arguing with you about these metaphysical things, you slave to consumerism. Just work hard to pay off your loans. I don't think I need to work, even if I'm an adult." Salomon curled his lip and said, "Right now, I can't reach Bayoneta, but I know she's here, so I came to find her. Hurry up and show me the intelligence you've gathered, the stuff that satisfies your filthy, voyeuristic desires."
"Why are you being so mean to me, Salomon? Are all wizards like this? I suspect you're still at Hogwarts, and your headmaster is Professor Severus Snape—tsk, damn pure-blood, damn capitalist. By the way, I like Gryffindor." Luca muttered as he placed the camera in front of the wizard. "Remember your promise!"
"Shut up, I didn't ask about your preferences, you stupid lion. Of course I'll keep my promise, provided you do too." Salomon, guided by Luca, examined the photos on the memory card. After a short while, he saw something extremely horrifying. Pointing at the photo, he said to Luca, "Ha! I never imagined you'd ventured into such a place! Looks like I didn't choose the wrong person."
"Of course, I'm a reporter." Luca suddenly became smug. "Keep praising me, don't be shy."
Salomon ignored him and continued examining the photographs. The horrifying object appeared quite ordinary: a bright red coffin standing atop a massive pillar, its surface resembling metal, a metallic spike protruding from its chest, and a pipe connected to the coffin carrying a deep red liquid. There were many more like this, but Luca didn't have a chance to investigate further.
He didn't realize what it was when he took the photo, but Salomon, with his extraordinary eyesight, recognized it at a glance after distinguishing a few tiny runes. Although it was wrapped in something with a highly technological appearance, its core operating principle was magic, and the deep red liquid was none other than blood.
These are probably the remains of those dead witches. After they died, their immense magical power remained within their souls. The purpose of these coffins is to imprison their souls and extract their magical power to power the Isabelle Mansion or something else.
This device may have been operating for hundreds of years, and something that requires such a large amount of magic must be extraordinary.
Salomon frowned deeply, pondering: What exactly was Baldr supporting? How was he going to use Seresa to achieve his goal? Was it some kind of spell of suggestion? But that little guy couldn't even hold a knife properly, how could he possibly hurt someone?
The suspicious circumstances surrounding the Isabelle Building greatly troubled Salomon. He meticulously inquired about the location where each of Luca's photographs was taken. These photographs also provided Salomon with excellent directions on what he would encounter upon entering the building and the possible sequence of events. Although Salomon disliked Luca's free-spirited manner, the man was undeniably gifted as a journalist, and his investigations greatly simplified Salomon's operations.
However, he first needs to find Bayonetta and give her clear directions.
-------------
In the Balda Room on the top floor of the Isabelle Building, within the strange space embedded in the ceiling that radiated warm light, the angel, originally as tall as a person, appeared as small as an ant flapping its wings. The blurry figure enveloped in energy gradually became clearer. A huge, metallic female face had become distinct, including her towering golden hair and the numerous, eerie white human face decorations covering it.
"The two eyes that govern the world will soon converge, and the resurrection of Jubilee is imminent. The angels dream as always. You are the sacrifices for the resurrection of the 'left eye.' Our wishes are the same; everything is for the fulfillment of our long-cherished desire. Yes, light, darkness, and humanity—everything is for the creation of a new world."
Baldr, the Lumen Sage, stood in the warm light. As his voice grew louder, countless angels flew from that strange space toward the real world. The light around Baldr gradually changed from a warm orange-red to a bright white, and as they approached, the light around him became increasingly dazzling.
"Hahaha!" Badr raised his hands and shouted, "Go, angels, sacrifice yourselves, become the cornerstones that awaken the 'Left Eye,' and the glory of Jubilee will forever accompany you! Go, let my dear daughter know her own power, let my sweetheart know the mission she bears. Don't hold back, and don't worry about her failing. Only through this game will my daughter understand her true power, will she understand the meaning of her existence!"
"I love you so much, my daughter." Unlike his previous grand pronouncements, Badr's last words were incredibly faint, only he could hear them, and he lowered his head, half of his expression hidden by a golden mask.
"Become the god of the new world with me, Ceresa."

Suggestion, 2nd Ring of Bewitching; Casting Time: 1 action; Range: 30 feet; Material: Sound, Material (a snake's tongue and a small piece of honeycomb or a drop of sweet oil); Duration: Focused, up to 8 hours.
You propose an action (limited to one or two sentences) that magically affects a creature within your range that you can see, hear, and understand. Creatures that cannot be charmed are immune to this effect. The wording of the proposal must make the action seem plausible. Asking the creature to stab itself, lunge at a spear, self-immolate, or perform any other obviously harmful action will end the spell.
The target must make a perception save. If the save fails, it will do its utmost to perform the actions you described. This set of actions can continue for the entire duration of the spell. If the proposed actions are completed in a shorter time, the spell will end when the target has done what it was asked to do.
If you or any of your allies harm the target, this spell ends.
