Chapter 102 Wanted (Second Update, Please Subscribe)

He stated his needs frankly: "I'm wondering if we could use the guild's channels to issue a warrant for the arrest of that man named Romeo."

Gathering intelligence and searching for him myself is too inefficient. It's much more practical to have the guild conduct a large-scale manhunt through official channels.

Upon hearing Otto's words, Phyllis looked on in disbelief, and the scissors in her hand clattered onto the table.

"Is Romeo Aria the murderer?"

"How...how could this be?"

Phyllis's voice trembled slightly; she simply couldn't believe it.

Phyllis had heard Juliet mention her lover Romeo countless times.

In Juliet's words, he was a near-perfect man: handsome, considerate, knowledgeable, and a skilled lute player.

To be with Juliet, he defied his family's objections and fled from the distant south to the northern frontier, arriving in this remote town.

Even before their marriage, he refused to share a room with her. Although Juliet had prepared a separate bed for him, the man named Romeoia would only stay in hotels.

Phyllis could clearly sense the deep affection between the two from Juliet's words.

She always thought that once Romeoa settled down, she would marry Juliet and live happily ever after in Oakwood.

I was even thinking about receiving Juliet's bouquet then!

But now, Otto tells her that it was this very man Juliet loved who killed her and used her as material for evil magic.

This stark contrast was something Phyllis simply couldn't accept for a while.

Just as Phyllis was in shock, the ribbon wrapped in kraft paper completely came undone.

The first thing Phyllis noticed was a dark blue wool coat, soft and thick, clearly made of the finest wool.

This was specially ordered by Phyllis from Juliet's tailor shop last month.

In the pocket of the wool coat, a neatly folded card fell out and slowly floated onto the table.

Phyllis instinctively picked up the card, and when she saw the familiar, delicate handwriting on it, her expression froze completely.

The card was in Juliet's handwriting, with just a few lines of text. Phyllis softly read the blessing aloud.

"This is for my little ray of sunshine, Phyllis. May your smile always be as bright as the sun."

Juliet stayed.

Tears welled up unexpectedly, sliding down Phyllis's cheeks and dripping onto her brand-new wool coat, leaving a small, dark stain.

She gripped the card tightly, her knuckles turning white from the force, and her shoulders trembled slightly uncontrollably.

She couldn't believe that her friend had left this world in such a tragic way, and that the murderer was the person her friend had trusted most.

The office fell into a deathly silence, broken only by the crackling of burning wood in the fireplace and Phyllis's suppressed sobs.

Otto sat there quietly, without saying a word or offering any comfort.

He knew that any words of comfort would be pale and powerless at this moment; only by letting her slowly process this sorrow herself could she truly cope.

After a long while, Phyllis finally calmed down.

She carefully wiped away the tears from the corners of her eyes, folded the card and her wool coat together, put them in a cabinet in the corner of the office, and then gently locked the cabinet door.

When she turned around, Otto noticed that the vulnerability and sadness in her eyes were gone, replaced by a cold determination.

"Okay, I understand."

Phyllis's voice was still a little hoarse, but unusually firm.

"I will immediately contact the guild headquarters and negotiate with the town's police station to issue an arrest warrant for Romeoia."

Wherever he flees, we will find him and avenge Juliet!

At that moment, Otto understood that the somewhat naive and innocent girl had hoped to commemorate her friend in this way.

Phyllis took a deep breath, straightened her clothes, and said to Otto, "Let's go out, the upgrade assessment is about to begin."

Phyllis didn't say anything more, only that she hoped Otto would let her see Juliet again after he officially signed the contract with her, and she never mentioned the matter of the commission again.

The two of them walked out of the office together and returned to the noisy lobby.

Seeing that the upgrade assessment was still some time away, Phyllis pulled Otto to a corner of the hall and sat him down, beginning to explain the precautions for the upgrade assessment to him.

"I will be in charge of the lottery for the upgrade exam later."

Phyllis looked at Otto and patiently explained.

"The format for this upgrade assessment is two people per team, with teammates determined by random drawing."

However, Eileen has already registered you and Miss Tessa together, so the two of you will definitely be a team.

However, Miss Eileen took Miss Tess away for special training this morning; I don't know if she'll be able to get back in time.

Upon hearing this, Otto simply nodded, not worried at all.

He knew Eileen, and he also knew Tessa.

Eileen is the resident priestess of the Adventurers' Guild and a powerful figure in the Inquisition.

Even the Magical Ape only managed to glean some information about her; she was a true Grandmaster, a second-tier Judgment Knight.

She took Tessa away, definitely to teach her some practical self-defense techniques so that she could better protect herself during the assessment.

Although Tessa looks delicate, she has an indomitable spirit and will definitely come back to participate in the assessment.

Otto said calmly.

"Don't worry, Tessa will be there soon."

As Otto and Phyllis were chatting, Otto's gaze swept across the hall and he suddenly spotted two familiar figures: Sabrina and Joel.

Otto was somewhat surprised; neither of them had left Oak Town and had both come to participate in this upgrade assessment.

Joel saw Otto too, and he immediately waved excitedly before running over over.

Good morning, Mr. Otto!

Joel said with a smile, revealing a set of white teeth.

Joel had already removed the bandages from his arm, and he looked much more cheerful.

The scars on his face from Frederick's attack had faded considerably, leaving only a faint mark, and his injuries had clearly been completely healed.

He wore a brand-new gold-rimmed felt hat and a clean linen shirt, and looked very energetic.

Good morning, Joel.

Otto smiled and greeted him, then asked with some curiosity.

"I heard from Sabrina that you're planning to leave Oak Town?"

Why haven't they left yet?

Otto remembered clearly that on that day in the Valley of the Rotting Giant Trees, Sabrina had said that she planned to leave Oak Town and join the church of Entana, the goddess of disease and plague.

Their presence here is rather unusual in itself.

"Yes, we are indeed planning to leave."

Joel nodded and explained.

Sabrina wanted to become a priestess of Ntana, the goddess of disease, and to live in a wider world.

As for me, to be honest, I don't really want to continue being an adventurer.

My last experience in the Blackthorn Forest was terrifying; I almost died there.

Fortunately, my grocery store has finally made some profit, so opening a new store in a different location shouldn't be too difficult.

"However, before leaving, if I can complete the adventurer upgrade and obtain the Blackrock Adventurer's Badge, it will be easier to make connections in a new place."

Joel continued.

"After all, Sabrina is already an extraordinary being. Participating in the upgrade assessment will also bring her some fame, which may be of great help to her becoming a priest."

Seeing Joel's hopeful expression, Otto didn't say anything more.

He opened his mouth, intending to warn Joel to be careful of Sabrina, but the memory of the horrific scene in the Rotten Valley and the missing members of the Rabbitfoot Squad filled him with unease.

But in the end, he just looked at Joel and said softly, "Take care."

Just as Otto was about to say something more, he suddenly felt a cold gaze fall on him.
