Chapter 994 The Gift

"Mr. Christant, you're not quite right. Philo did tell me about his plan, but he only told me part of it. He avoided discussing many details and other important aspects. And most importantly, when Philo told me about his plan, he didn't mention the involvement of the Church of Storms!" Connor continued slowly and deliberately, maintaining a smile.

Christant was clearly unconvinced by Connor's explanation. He gave Connor a deep look and said in a low voice, "Since Philo didn't explain it clearly to you, let me emphasize it again: the Church of Storms wants Reyes dead, and Connor Ferguson, your job is to do everything in your power to help us find him!"

"That's why Connor Ferguson is here, and not in the Storm Church's water dungeon! My patience is limited; I hope you don't let it run out!"

After Christant's threatening words, Connor seemed unaffected, shaking his head and saying, "Since you're being so direct, Mr. Christant, I won't waste any more words. The place you're looking for, I speculate, should be in the area surrounding Frosinone. As for the exact location, I'll need some more time to find it."

"Of course, I know your time is very precious, Mr. Christant. If you're in a hurry, why don't you mobilize all the members of the Earth God Cult and the Storm Church in Frosinone to conduct a thorough search of the area around Frosinone, inch by inch? That way, it shouldn't take long for you to get what you want, Mr. Christant. I know you have the ability to do that!" Connor said, smiling and nodding at Christant, his intentions unclear.

Although Connor's words were somewhat vague, upon hearing Connor's last ambiguous statement, and realizing that Connor Ferguson had seen through his identity, Christant's eyes instantly sharpened. He looked at Connor and asked coldly, "Who told you?"

Seeing Christant's change in expression, Connor smiled and shook his head, speaking slowly and deliberately: "My dear Director, don't forget, I'm a member of the Secret Society, and my mentor is the number two figure in the Secret Society, Professor. When they first told me about your identity, I was somewhat skeptical, but now it seems I was simply blind to your true nature. I couldn't have imagined that you were the top intelligence chief of the Storm Church!"

Christant, whose identity had been exposed by Connor, was unaffected by Connor's teasing. He looked at Connor coldly and said, "Connor Ferguson, do you know that your words alone are enough to make you and your Ferguson family regret it for the rest of your lives?"

"My dear Director, stop bluffing. You know what you're supposed to know, and you can't access what you're not supposed to know!" Connor said with a smile. He then took a small wooden box from his spatial ring, handed it to Christant, and explained, "This little thing is a small gift for you, Director. I'm sure you'll like it!"

Upon hearing Connor's words, Christant's expression changed slightly. He looked at Connor, then at the small wooden box Connor had handed him. After a moment's hesitation, he opened it and found a green stone about the size of a fingernail lying inside.

Upon seeing the green stone, Christant looked puzzled, seemingly unsure of its nature. Before he could ask, Connor explained, "Mr. Christant, as you know, my dear mentor is a master of disguise. Therefore, I prepared this for you. Whenever my mentor appears within a one-kilometer radius of you, this will warn you!"

As soon as Connor finished speaking, Christant, who had a premonition of the effect of the small green stone, had a fleeting glint in his eyes. Then, under Connor's gaze, Christant took the small green stone out of the wooden box and examined it carefully.

On the surface, the small green stone Connor gave him seemed like some kind of rare mineral. However, upon closer inspection, it became clear that this green stone was quite different from any mineral. Compared to minerals, it resembled a crystal, and if one's mental strength was powerful enough, one would discover that the surface of this small green stone was covered with a layer of tiny runes invisible to the naked eye…

"Connor Ferguson, are you sure this thing of yours can sense Reyes's presence?"

After carefully examining the small green stone, Christant returned it to the wooden box, then looked at Connor and asked in a deep voice:

"Theoretically speaking, it could indeed have such an effect. Of course, this thing has never been tested, but I think it won't hurt for you to carry it with you. After all, although you have a magical item for self-defense, you know Reyes' strength and courage. If he appears in Frosinone as you all predict, then..." Connor said meaningfully.

Hearing Connor's words, Christant remained silent, but his gaze towards Connor held a hidden murderous intent. Connor smiled slightly, then waved his hand and explained, "My dear director, rest assured. My secret society friend only told me your identity; he knows nothing else. As for you carrying demonic items, that's just my personal guess!"

"To be honest, it's not hard to guess. Given your strength and status within the Church of Storms, it's only natural that the Church of Storms would provide you with some protection in such a high-risk place as Frosinone!"

After Connor finished speaking, Christant's expression remained unchanged, as if Connor's words had had no effect whatsoever. After a few seconds, he slowly said, "With Connor's mental strength, I believe you should already know Dezerby outside your mansion, right?"

When Christant mentioned the "very cautious" old pastor who had stopped monitoring him after being discovered, Connor nodded and said, "Of course, I even said hello to him. To be honest, your Storm Church really didn't give him enough funding, leaving so many of them to stay in such a poorly equipped hotel!"
